Whats in the Flip-Mat pack?

Prerelease Discussion

The preview image looks like the Forest double sided one from 2017. I'd like to pre order but not if its maps I already own.

It's possible that's a placeholder image; confirmation of that would be good.

And just because I haven't seen it explicitly stated (but there's been a LOT of stuff put out and could easily have missed it), maps are still scaled as squares and 1 square = 5 feet, and therefore "1e" flipmats/map packs/map tiles are compatible with 2e, correct? Buying new books/PDFs for the new edition I understand, but buying new maps because the old maps aren't compatible wouldn't feel very nice.

Concur on desire for more information on the 2E flip-mat & scale.
Paizo's maps are my only consistent purchases now, so this matters to me a lot more than most of the other announcements.

Even just a note from someone in the know on staff that "maps are still 1" squares and will be entirely new maps" would be great.

To answer this one, in case the OP or others stumble upon it and Paizo staff doesn't have a chance to answer it amongst all the others: yes, new maps and maps are: burnt-out crypt under the city of Magnimar, a ruined temple in the demon-infested Worldwound, a remote wizard's tower beside a mountain pool, and an arcanist astronomer's subterranean workshop.

Please, make sure it's really 1 inch per square, not like the Starfinder one.

The product image is a mockup using existing art, since the all-new maps are not ready yet.

And I can guarantee you that we're not going to change the game in a way that makes you buy all new maps and minis. Flip-Mats will continue to be 1":5' scale.

I'll boycott if my Lego and Starburst minis are no longer usable in PF2.

Protip: if you use skittles minis instead of starburst, you can transition between grid and hex systems with ease!

(You also don't have to unwrap them, so "you eat what you kill" brings that much more instant gratification!)

Only playtest product that will have a shelf-life beyond the playtest. I recommend buying this one!

Hmm

I snagged it from the product description under the 2E playtest area of the site.

Ah, thanks! And yes I bought the flip maps because I’m an addict!
