Interest Check - Hollow's Revolution!

Recruitment

For the longest time, I've loved the setting of Falcon's Hollow. A very adventure friendly patch of land with plenty of danger, mystery, monsters, and even a jackasses lumber boss who crushes the poor people under his boot.

...someone really ought to do something about that, you know?

It occurred to me that the Lumber Consortium kinda has Falcon's Hollow practically under tyranny and slave rule... and being inside Andoran's border, you kinda expect the Eagle Knights or the People's Council or SOMEONE to notice that and go "Oh hell no". But to my knowledge, none of the material ever really addresses that. Yeah, there are good folks trying to make the place better, but... that's all? No up and coming contingent of Cayden faithful or members of Iomedae's church (which has a temple in town!) or some other band of ambitious merchants or anybody eager not to see that crap eradicated coming along to save the day? The possibilities seem pretty wide open! Faith warfare, financial competition, tricky and corporate espionage, street Russel's with Kreed's thugs and cronies? Sounds like a solid campaign to me!

Now I am by no means a good GM nor would I try to trick myself into attempting this. I might could organize and Co-GM, but when it comes to this... I make failure look like an art. :( But I'm curious to see if any other board folks would be interested in a game like this. A mix of sandbox and adventure all in one... Kinda!

The idea sounds interesting. I'd like to see more character creation detail and the like, of course, but that will probably depend on the GM, I suppose.

Sounds like fun. I've never played Pathfinder, I'm more of a 5e guy. But, I did buy the rules recently. This sounds like a good time to try it out. I'm fine with a mediocre GM because I'm sure I'm a mediocre Pathfinder player at best.

I'd be willing to help out.

I'm actually GMing another Falcon's Hollow game already, so I have some experience with the setting.
I also have all the sourcebooks for the town and Darkmoon Vale.

Let me know what you think.

I'd be very interested in playing in such a game.

I'd also be interested in playing in such a game!

Oh anyone who has played in Falcon's Hollow hates that Kreed guy!Good idea!

Silver Crusade

hmmm. haven't played falcons hallow, but this sounds interesting.

So I would 1000% be down to run a Milanite rallying a People's Revolution for this.

Probably an Inquisitor? But also maybe a Cleric into Evangelist PrC.

I really can't stress enough how Extremely My Thing this is.

Silver Crusade

This sounds interesting, and a good setting to implement my Gathlain Phytokineticist concept I’ve been working on.

As for the political situation, could it be that the Lumber Consortium has certain members of the Andoren government in their pocket, thus the hypocrisy?

To resume:

1) Looking for a GM.

2) Looking for players.

Q:
3) which ruleset: D&D 3.5 or PF?

4) Allowed stuff: Yes, maybe and no?

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Since CaptainFord put forth the initial pitch, I would not want to step on their toes, so they have the final say.

That said, I would be willing to GM this.

If I did, I would use Pathfinder rules and definitely allow everything on the Pathfinder Reference Document while considering other options on a case-by-case basis.

Kinda needed to be asked since quite a few Falcon Hollow related stuff were made with 3.5 rules.

Oh, I certainly have no plans to run this. I know my limits, and GMing is way beyond my ability. I was mostly just interested in seeing if anyone besides me would be keen on a concept like this... and I'm glad to see I wasn't alone!

To the notion of Andoran putting with Kreed's crap, I think part of it is that the Consortium does put out a steady supply of wood that is hard to get and Andoran can purchase on the cheap. They might also not be fully aware of how crappy he treats the people or, if they are, lack the legal means to prove it and push him out. There's also the matter that he employs a lot of people and could also do them a ready amount of harm. Which means that any good guys looking to put a stop to him have a couple roadblocks ahead of them. I imagine Kneed absolutely would hold the lives of every man, woman, and kid in Falcon's Hollow hostage if it meant quelling the efforts of a few upstart heroes. Even if they do stop him... that's a lot of folks out of work. And though he might pay them crap, Kreed pays them... and that money buys food.

...but that's what would make it such a good story! The heroes can't really just go hung ho on Kneed and the Consortium like that! There's chance for espionage, world building, underhanded tactics, maybe even a vigilante! Plus, who knows what kind of allies they have behind the scenes! Admittedly, I used to think the Lumber Consortium was an offshoot of the Aspis Consortium... but if they are in cahoots, that opens a whole new can of worms!

I was also thinking a Vigilante might be fun here.

"My name is Fenna and I speak to you from sad experience. You will fail and end up murdered like my dear friend Alwin, or running for your life like me! The Lumber Consortium has eyes everywhere, and a longer reach than you imagine. It runs the Vale through force and fear, and Almas through money. Beware the enemies you will make if you go there!"

This is seriously awesome! Fenna is my Ruins of Azlant character and this premise is exactly her background. A bard and Milani worshipper, she and her boyfriend went to rally the people to unite against their oppressors by giving speeches on the street corners. Collective action to overthrow the power of the Lumber Consortium!

Her boyfriend wound up face-down in the river, and she decided to run. Much better to fight the good fight before the corruption runs too deep, like at a new colony in old Azlant.

Have a great time with this! Kind of wish Fenna wasn't already spoken for.

BTW: Andoran, Birthplace of Freedom has lots of good information for a campaign like this.

I'm working on a cleric of Cayden Cailean right now. But, if necessary for party balance, I can make a vigilante or a monk instead.

Sounds like we have a victim err volunteer.

Actually, before I start, how are we rolling stats 4d20 drop lowest, point buy, something else?

I’ve always loved falcons hollow as an adventuring ground myself. If there’s room still I’d love to play in this.
