I play in the Society universe. Right now there is a discussion going on about what non-core races and how soon those non-core races should be made available for play.
I am curious about what are Homebrew games doing about the new races made available by the Alien Archive? Are you playing them all? Only some?
Any explanation as to why the decision was made the way it was would be great.
Thank you!

We're already in the middle of a game now so unfortunately aren't going to be able to use the Archive races yet (barring an unfortunate character death)
But if we were starting now I'd say ok to any and all of them. I've always been one to let my players play anything they want to that best fits their "image" of the PC they want. The more options the better in my mind

My PCs already made their characters by the time Aliem Archives hit, but going forward, I am leaning towards allowing all of the small and medium races for now, sans the ones that are radically non-humanoid in general form
Interesting. Society has allowed two large races as playable, one a giant insect and the other a large flying elf-thing.

Well, part of my reason is that I have one player who is invariably drawn to the weirdest most "snowflaky" race she can find and tends to use that as a substitute for a personality, and the characters often just end up as a bag of quirks that irritates everyone else at the table. She's satisfied with Shi'rin for now, and I'm no hurry to point out that they have an optional race of 10 foot tall spider people that take pride in their butt spikes.
