Test of the Starstone-still there?

General Discussion

It's fair to say the Starstone is now even more of a centepiece given how it's become a great Drift lighthouse.

Of course, given how it's at the heart of a space station, I wonder; is it still possible to use it and become a god? And if so, is there still a gauntlet of security to get past before hitting the Divine Power Now Please Button?

And more importantly, does anyone remember?

The starstone security is described in general terms in Dead Suns volume 1. It's as much to protect you from the starstone as the starstone from you.

You reach out to touch the Starstone and a computer voice says, "I'm sorry, all available divine power is currently in use. Please try again later."

Do they ever explain who moved the Starstone from its place on Golarion to the Station itself or how they did it?

was wondering this last night,,,,

I like to imagine the test of the starstone now involves a written test as well as the "practical exam" of security bots, but the info you need to know to pass was lost to the Gap.

That's the same as it ever was. There never was a class before exam with the Test. ;)

Anyway, unless the material says explicitly otherwise ( I don't have the AP ), I imagine that *technically*, someone could still take the Test. They just would need to first convince the government of Absalom Station that, one, this isn't a waste of everyones' time, and two, you aren't a psychopath or saboteur. Pass both requirements, and they'll open the door and let you attempt to reach the Starstone. And then, when you are never seen again, they can at least take consolation in that they made you sign a whole bunch of *really* detailed and unambiguous disclaimers.

After all, think about it: its only been three centuries since the Gap ended. Looking at the pre-Gap history books ( Pathfinder ), the Test of the Starstone averages well more then three centuries between successful candidates.

Achaekek just hangs out in the Starstone's chamber now, waiting.

Hey, that kind of *would* work as part of the Test. After all, Achaekek is kind of sort of "only" a demigod. Beating, or at least overcoming in some way, a demigod seems a good test for becoming one yourself. ;)

He's a full five domain god. Only in the pre-PFRPG RotRL was he a demigod.

Now I'm just imagining Achaekek sitting around, holding a newspaper between his mantis claws, bored out of his mind.

^Considering his Intelligence score (6 if I remember correctly) back from when he was statted as a quasi-deity, he's probably been watching SLY News and its associated game shows . . . .

AP backmatter spoiler:

Noone can reach the starstone at the moment. They lost the access codes during the Gap and whenever someone tries to enter by force "overwhelmingly deadly magical defenses" activate.

Demolishes a clothing boutique reaching for his coffee.

Maybe the Starstone could not be moved by what made Golarion disappear. And the Station was built, or appeared, around it.

Plot twist, (read: blatant and rampant speculation) Absalom station is the last living entity to pass the Trial, and is low-key the God of refugees.

A neat idea, but I think Absalom Station would be more. . . weird, if that were the case. Like, at the very least, it should be bigger on the inside.

Since when is that weird? Extradimensional spaces have been around for a while.

Maybe, but the key thing is, Absalom Station *isn't*.

Have you seen the artwork of the interior? It would have to be bigger on the inside to have half the things they show in the artwork.
