If you're a player in the Dead Suns AP don't read the spoiler unless you want to be... spoiled.
Anyone got any better suggestions?
Well it's kinda hard to suggest a new name when we don't know precisely how it functions, although we can certainly guess. Other than being "on the nose" what don't you like about the name?

Yes. The first sounds like a fantasy name, the second like a science fiction name.
Yeah I kinda like the name, it feels nice and scifi, plus the name hints at what it does so there's a good reason to be afraid!

So we just need to combine the two, right?

** spoiler omitted ** It's certainly better than

I really hope the final boss is asking for "1 million credits or he'll fire it."

Well the AP is called the dead suns, why not call it the dead sun, or sun deather (j/k), seriously though if you don't like it's name may I suggest sun slayer, star slayer, solar decimator, sun destroyer, solar doom, star darkener (again j/k)
Guess the project name could be Project Dim Bulb. ;)

I may call it something like, Final Desolation.
And Solar Decimator would fall short of killing a star as it would only reduce it by 1/10.
I apologize for the vague names of the aliens involved here, but I can't remember the names of the races involved and don't have the AP at hand. I'll edit this later to be clearer.
I'm also trying to be mindful of when the builder's information, versus when the beings who hid its information is being looked at. Each race would likely have different names for the device. So, for me, the "Builder's" called it:
and the "Hiders" called it the Stellar Degenerator.
this lets you do some cultural anthropology on the two races by way of inference, with one race clearly more literal and the other metaphoric in their world views.
