Fey Races

Advice

Silver Crusade

Are there any races out there that actually have of a subtype of fey, or is there a way to make someone fey?

Gathlain have the fey type (not subtype).

You're amazing as always. Thank you.

Silver Crusade

I'm talking playable races. Not monsters.

they are all playable assuming you have enough levels to pay for the cr cost

Pretty sure pathfinder doesn't have rules for level adjustment attached to race.

Anyway, Naiad is fey from bestiary 6 and less likely to provoke a GMs ire than a Gathlain as they don't have in built flight.

Huh. They managed to make naiads mechanically boring. I'm a bit sad about that.

Pathfinder has some rules to play monsters...it's something most people did skip in the original bestiary, guess because reading is hard or something.

The rules aren't great but they are there.

But anyway Monster as PC can be found in the appendix 4, bestiary 1, page 313.

It basically goes like this:

if everybody plays monsters...no need to worry about a thing.

If someone want to be special snowflake:

You all make characters at whatever approriate level:

Let say a level 6 party, a monster can join CR 4 + 2 class levels to match up.

But from now on, it will gain one level for every 3 levels, the regular pc get. Repeated a number of times equal to half the CR of the monster rounded down. So in our example here, the CR 4 monster with 2 class levels, would need to level twice before, he can finally level normally, which means...after the party has gained 6 levels...so the party is level 12, the monster is CR 4+4 class levels, now they can all level at the same speed.

edit: they do recommend to level the monster half way between the 2nd and 3rd level.

What would you have done with them?

Mea culpa. It was an uneducated comment. I checked a third party site and they forgot to list a few things in their race entry, like a swim speed and water bond. The monster entry was more thematic, and I have no complaints.

Wooo I like em too

Heroes of the Wild introduces alternate racial traits for the core PC races to make them feyborn. However this doesn't change their type, or even grant them a "feyborn" subtype.

The Inner Sea World Guild has the Fey Foundling feat, but again no changes to type or additional subtype.

In Legacy of the First World, there are more fey racial traits for the core PC races, fey story feats, and a wealth of options for fey-themed characters. There is the Nornkith monk archetype that does change the characters type to fey, but it's part of the 20th level capstone. Even the Fey-Touched Creature template doesn't change the creatures type to fey or grant a fey-ish subtype.

You can become a Fey with a 1 level dip into the Feysworn Prestige class.

Also if you're looking into 3P there are a lot of Fey races in Dreamscarred Press Bloodforge (including children of dryads, satyrs, redcaps, nymphs and more) as well as feats to get Fey themed abilities (Mixed Blood and the subsequent Heritage Feats).

Therigens are race of fey anthropomorphic animals.
