Defending Weapons VS Damage Reduction

If I have a +5 defending weapon, and I am using all of the +5 bonus to enhance my AC, does it still bypass DR as if it were a +5 weapon?

I do believe so, you just no longer apply the bonus to damage or attack rolls. Like always say, just don't quote me on that.
