Good sorcerer builds other than the standards.

Advice

I'm trying to find a "good" focused build for sorcerers that is not 1. a blaster or 2. The Kitsune enchanter.

Arcane is a good bloodline for standard spellcasting but I'm looking for something a bit more specialized the same way a blaster or enchanter would have been.

Razmiran Priest.
For when you want to save money and replace the cleric.

You can make a debuff-focused sorcerer starting with void-touched and playing with metamagic/the amplification feats, a psychic sorcerer with a fighter dip who wears full plate and a tower shield, the standard sorcadin gish, a sneaky shadow sorcerer, and more. Some examples here.

Cross-blooded Undead/Pestilence

Grand Lodge

Sylvan Razmiran Priest buff your AC.

The Psychic Bloodline Sorcerer is awesome, because all of your spells effectively utilize the Silent and Still spell feats for free, without penalizing the spell level or requiring you to have those feats. And it works with any build you want.

I personally like to play utility casters, which means I'm usually taking an Ancient Lorekeeper Archetype for Elven Oracles. It replaces the bonus spells from your Mystery with spells from the Sorcerer list, giving you a pretty wide variety of utility spells at your fingertips (at a +1 spell level penalty for the Sorcerer Spells). I like to combine this with the Heavens Mystery, because you can summon armor that doesn't interfere with your casting, gain fly as a spell-like ability, and have certain illusions be much more effective than normal.

Well, Blasting is a typical reason to be a sorcerer or Dip a Sorcerer. But you can accomplish many other styles of builds. But somewhere along the lines, you will take a Blast spell here or there.

You can easily build a debuffer, illusionist or controller type Sorcerer just by your spell/feat selection. The bloodline with its abilities is just Icing on your 9th level casting cake.

What exactly are you looking for?

What spells really interest you?

Then we can optimize around your interests.

I was trying to look for a different niche.

You have bloodlines that gave large boosts to compulsions so people built characters around that. You had some that boosted damage so people built around that but none of the rest seem like something you can build around.

I'm probably going to settle on an Arcane bloodline.

Other than making another thread my focus will be on suggestions for a school other than enchantment for someone planning to take both spell focus and greater spell focus.

Well, let's look at what Arcane does.

Bloodline Arcana: Whenever you apply a metamagic feat to a spell that increases the slot used by at least one level, increase the spell’s DC by +1. This bonus does not stack with itself and does not apply to spells modified by the Heighten Spell feat.

This basically begs you to use Metamagic.

Now for the Powers:

First, it gives you a Familiar. In the beginning, this gives you free bonuses. If you take a Familiar Archetype it can also provide you with lots of utility. If you gain Improved Familiar you then have a Wand user that increases your action economy. I see a wand of Ill Omen and just smile to myself. This can be part 1 of your Nitch. Lots you can do with just a wand of Ill Omen.

At level 3 you get Metamagic Adept. You are now more proficient at using meta magics so your build needs to have a few. Since your not blasting I recommend Persistent and Dazing to be your go too Metmagics. I am sure you can find a few more. In the early game, it will be difficult to pull off +2 and +3 meta-magics so you. So this ability will come into play later. But there are a few meta-magics that could be of use to you early if you retrain it later. Toppling spell is nice for the first 7 Level when on a Magic Missile. Perhaps take Toppling at level 3 to ride it till Level 7 then retrain it to Persistent or Improved Familiar.

Level 9 Adds more spells to your list. If your Human or a Half Blood (Probably should be), You can have a ton of spells Known. Giving you superior choices when facing many obstacles.

Level 15 adds School Focus. This gives you reason to pick a spell focus or two. I recommend Conjuration and/or Necromancy. These spells work well with Persistent and Dazing. You do not need to summon with Conjuration as you have a ton of control spell options. Glitterdust is an amazing spell that works on most enemies. You can be popping off Persistent Glitterdusts with strong DCs that stay relevant from levels 4+.

So, all in all, Pick a few spells from the school you like. Take spell focus and have some fun.

Perhaps some of the more unusual ideas from my Crazy Character Emporium thread and online gallery can help springboard your imagination:

My gallery also has some really powerful sorcerer blasters and kitsune charmers, as well as other non-themed sorcerers for those still interested in that sort.

If you like what you see, please favorite the first post of my thread.

Wild-blooded (void-touched) is a solid start on a debuffer, sylvan gets you an animal companion (which works well with share spells & the sorc/wiz spell list), psychic frees you from ASF and isn't bad otherwise, shadow (w/seeker archetype) can make a sorcerous rogue, rakshasa is good for the paranoiacs.

If you go with arcane though - illusion is versatile. Besides actual illusions there's shadow conjuration and friends. Conjuration itself is always good too.

I personally like the Arcane (Sage) Seeker sorceror for the magical spy/rogue type. It works well with almost any form of control you want to pick. Being an Int caster means you have masses of skill points and can very easily face with the right choice of traits. Basically you become magical James Bond. Go human, half elf or half orc for the extra spells known.

I have two of them in PFS, this one recently hit semi-retirement at level 12. The stat block includes mage armour and overland flight although he has plenty of other buffs he keeps up regularly.

I am trying out the Ifrit Wishcrafter (fire elemental bloodline). A bit low-level right now but it is nice to get SM I critters that last 2 rounds at level 1. Also, the theme of "granting wishes" is pretty cool - I might go further and let the party choose what spells I learn at higher levels.
