Well, that's not a problem I can relate to in the slightest... most people in my orbit are not merely okay with ratfolk, they're actively psyched at the chance to unleash all-Ysoki parties on the cosmos.

i actually am not that fond of Ysoki either but for me its because they look too much like regular mice, rats and hamsters. Sort of like a children's cartoon design rather than a workable body plan for a humanoid species... i dunno, something about them just break immersion for me, cant take their look seriously.

I have the same problem with catfolk. I wish they had a different name (I thought I read one somewhere, but cannot find it now.) and hate, hate, hate the pics of them as big cat-heads on human bodies. I much prefer the pics of them like the one in the bestiary. Despite not being digitigrade and having more human-like features, that pic seems more non-human and downright alien to me, especially with that slinky house cat-like pose. I love it.
The tengu give me a similar feeling, but not quite as bad since they have talon-like hands and feet to go with the crow face and feathers.

I think you are on to something; i am a very disgruntled and agrumentative person and yet... i completely agree with your post.

My first character's background includes a deep hatred of the Ysoki, as he was embroiled in conflict with a Ysoki gang which ended very badly for him and his best/only friend. Can't wait to see how that gets handled ;)
Not quite the same as simple disgust with rats in general, though.
