Seeking new GM for Dragon Mountain

Recruitment

I was one of the players selected to play in this game and we were having fun. The GM stated straight up from the beginning that he has some health issues and that it might pop up every now and then and that he would be away from the game. Well it seems that these health issues have taken the GM out and away from the game for an extended period. The game has been moved to an inactive state. We the players wish all the luck for our GM and will miss him.

Now onto what we are here for.

Looking for a GM to take over this game that is in the beginning stages. Right now we have 4 of the original players up for continuing this. I am looking for a GM that can motivate this group and keep it moving along at a good pace. Would like to have some heavy posting to keep this moving as it is a large module. The original GM had converted the module over to pathfinder rules.

It is our hope that we can find a GM to take over.

Old Dragon Mountain Campaign.

I am one of the "wanting to continue" players mentioned in the OP.

Is the conversion available somewhere or would new GM need to do that?

@Mishima
He did all the work on that and any new GM would have to start from scratch.

I'm also a player in this game, and I'm excited for the possibility of continuing the adventure with a new GM.

I am one of the original players of the game that is still active.

Your biggest problem is likely finding a GM who has that particular module....

Plus the fact that it was a 2ed Module requiring some work to revamp for Pathfinder likely from a foe standpoint as well as a story standpoint.

But good luck!

That was one of the reason it drew me to it. A module from the good old days. We decided that we would try and see if anyone was interested.

Yep, I almost submitted for this one but level 10 is a LOT of work for a submission that might be accepted from a DM without a good track record for posting.

If I can find a copy of the module in PDF format and have a bit of time to look at converting things, I would be willing to pick up GMing duties.

That would be a great pick up as DM, Vrog is a great player.

No luck finding a copy yet, but I have found that someone coverted dragon mountain to 4th edition, so I'm trying to track those files down.

Stay tuned.

I will check at home - I may have it in PDF. I do have a physical copy, but it would take quite a while to manually scan it all.

Could probably find it on DriveThruRPG.

I checked drivethrurpg because someone had mentioned it in one of the forum posts I found, but couldn't find it on their site.

Wow. Interesting, I wonder why.

Thank you to everyone for taken the time to help us out. You could try and contact the original dm. He has already converted the module to PF....might be able to upload it for you.

So, good news all. Thanks to a certain Shadowy character, I will have a PDF copy of the boxed set on Monday, and I will be taking a look at the gameplay thread to see what I need to convert still, as I haven't heard anything back yet from the original GM.

While I played the adventure a couple of times during the hayday of 2nd edition, that was quite a while ago, so I need to read through the adventure and then make notes and the like as I go.

Here is what I would appreciate: If I could get the current players to chime in so I know who all is still here and what your group's composition is and what have you.

I'm not going to lie: we will probably not be starting again for a while (as I remember the mountain being huge) as it will probably take me a while to get everything set up.

Finally, as a request to people who are playing games that I GM, if you find yourself dissatisfied with the way the game is going, please let me know and we can discuss it, but if after the discussion you are still not satisfied, we can write you out of the game; I understand that not all play styles mesh. I just ask that if we are in the middle of combat, you at least finish the combat before leaving the game, as well as letting people know, so that we doing have it wither while waiting (pardon the alliteration there) for you to act.

This should be A TERRIFYING DEATHGRINDER Fun!

I will keep you all posted with my progress, and when I get close I will start a recruitment if one is needed.

Sounds great

Wonderful! I'm still here, and I'll keep an eye out for further developments.

Still alive and looking forward to it.

Still here.

The Dragon (I presume) has landed.

Yep, beginning to re-read and start conversion. I have some ideas for a threat system (similar to something like stars in grand theft auto) that will determine how much opposition you will encounter and that sort of thing, but that is a bit off.

Just a quick update: I'm done reading book one, and I've started on book two. After starting to try to convert it, I realized that I should just read the whole thing first to familiarize myself with it. My hope is to be done with at least book two by Wednesday, as I have the 3rd and 4th off.

Okay, I'm through book two and partway through book three. I have a couple of options for you guys, so I'll put them to the group: I can start converting book one now and then we'll take a break while I convert book two, or I can finish reading book three and then do all of the conversions at once.

The difference in the two would be that I can probably get book one converted in a week or two tops, but we would have a longish break after finishing up book one and then probably a longish break while we finish up book three, or we can have one long break while I do the converting now and then run the whole thing straight through.

I'll leave it up to the group to decide and see where we go from there.

I think there is a difference between one long breaks and several so I am up for converting now and doing the module without any delays.

Same here..I would like to keep the game moving on a good pace. If we do recruitment perhaps we we can make it a requirement that posting should be 1/day and 1/weekend..or something like that. Botting a character if they do not post within 3 days or 1 day during combat. I personally do not like it when the game is held up due to a player that posts 1 time a week.

Yeah, I'd be fine with converting everything before we start.

If you need to Recruit I'm interested.

Okay, sounds like the consensus is that we'll go with one long break.

*pokes nose*

Just an update: I have forged through most of the first book and I'm going to finish that up probably by the end of next week, with a tentative hope to push into book two by that time as well.

About that time I'll start existing characters and take a good look at the character creation guidelines from the original campaign. Like any GM, I might have one or two things that I see that I don't allow in my games, but we'll deal with that when the time draws near.

Update the second: I've started the book two proper, but this book (and three) will take the most time to convert. Just wanted to make sure you didn't think that I had forgotten you.

:-)

Good to hear!

Sovereign Court

Woo!

thank you again.

Nice to see an update!

Silver Crusade

Hurray!

Sweet...

Updating again:

I'm about halfway through book 2 at this point, so I expect that I will be finished with it about the end of September, when I'll start on book 3. I will let you guys know when I am finished.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Thanks for the update

Nice!

Okay, next update: I should have book 2 finished either tomorrow or the next day (I ran into a longer project at work which has caused me to work some OT and not have time to work on this unfortunately).

As things stand right now, I'm going to revise my start estimate to mid-November.
