Nah I think he finally found his inner godhood.

Vid,

I don't think they're going to rehash the clone thing...So that was Thor, not Clor.

K I just figure maybe hel made some sort of instant chlor. crazy god powers etc.

Vid,

Nah. I think we're done letting Bendis write any more movies...I HOPE!

OK, ready for Ragnarok now. That's what a Thor movie should be: strange, beautiful landscapes, combat beyond the pale, and...journeys into mystery.

Comic-Con Trailer drop

All I have to say while I loved the first one, THIS!!! This is the kind of Thor trailer I had fantastical dreams about. Comedy, drama and LOTS of greatness!

This moment when Hulk grapples a gargantuan dire wolf summarizes my joy quite concisely.

I think that is fenrir.

Possibly Garm if not Fenrir; Hela's pet, the Cerberus equivalent, would also make some sense.

Either way, it's once again the "I have an army" "I have a man with monumental rage and control issues"

It also appears, at least on the surface, that Loki is doing what Loki does best.

Be an a-hole for the Greater Good, though sometimes folks don't realize it at the time, including himself.

Oh yes, this new trailer hits my sweet spot. It's fun and funny and epic and weird and makes you root for the characters. The new Justice League trailer doesn't do that.

I think is a result of the DCEU films playing catchup. Ragnorak gets to be weird and batshit with its imagery, setting and story, blending fantasy, sci-fi, and buddy comedies because Marvel has firmly proved itself. Justice League on the otherhand has to play it save with this Avengers 1 clone. Hell, they even got the same director, Whedon, instead of being bold and getting someone like Taika Waititi to make their film. Could still be good but am afraid am going to get a sense of deja vu from watching it.

Great trailer.

Well that looks like Fenrir, at least how he is described in myth.

I loved the Hulk talking. LOVED IT

If someone had said to me 5-6 years ago that I'd be more gleefully excited at the prospects of a THOR movie than a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie I would have laughed at them.

I'm not laughing now.

Except with that THOR: RAGNAROK trailer which is hilarious AND EPIC. Hela and Skurge look like HELA AND SKURGE. I mean Cate Blanchette and Karl Urban look so much like those characters it's scary.

I was telling my buddy yesterday, JL is going to have to have some incredible word of mouth for me to even consider going to see that in the theaters. THIS? I'm there opening day.

The Hulk talking is a breakthrough... super pumped that they even remembered he can talk in the comics... this gives me confidence they're finally getting the Hulk right... and I'm more than happy if they release 'team-up' spidey and hulk movies instead of just a hulk movie ('cause I think they're having a hard time with the standalone hulk movie planning due to some legal garbage... but team-ups? no problem! :) )

Well yes but also some Kieron Gillen. But yeah Simonson at his best, no doubt.

Also I'm 100% POSITIVE that's Fenris/Fenrir. Garm generally doesn't feature much in Ragnarok that I'm aware of.

Also Shin, I had hopes for Thor Ragnarock being better than JL. This just confirmed it. ESPECIALLY now that we not only see Surtur but hear him too! It's been confirmed that ole Lex Luthor himself, Clancy Brown WILL be his voice. I'm officially IN for eternity.

Let's not forget the obvious Kirby-esq stuff in that. Costuming, backgrounds and architecture screams Kirby.

It's like a holy trinity of cool Thor creators!

Well it's clearly a homage to Thor in all his 60s/70s and 80s metal glory.

Talking Hulk.
Hulk vs. Surtr.
Thor/Loki team up (the only part of Dark World I really enjoyed)
Hela dining on the scenery in the best way possible.
Thor telling Banner, "I won. Easily." "That doesn't seem right."
The prospect of a Hulk/Loki "reunion."

Yep. I was in anyway (Thor is my favorite founding Avenger in the comics, so I keep seeing his friggin' movies, in a desperate hope of seeing some Kirby or Simonson), but I'm a lot more sanguine now.

I'm not quite as over the top about this as some others. There are definite hints of coolness. Skurge, especially.

Thor without the hammer is also a nod to the current Odinson/Unworthy storyline, even without Jane getting the hammer and with it being destroyed rather than Thor not being worthy.

I'm really not fond of Hela catching and crushing Mjolnir. That's going to take a lot of justification for me to swallow. I'm not really sold on the whole Gladiator World Thor/Hulk thing. Hulk vs Surtr? Bah. Thor and Odin and Loki vs Surtr - now that I'd pay money to see.

I'll certainly see it - I'm a big Thor fan from way back, but they've been nodding to Simonson and Kirby all along, without actually pulling it off.

Cole,

I think for sure they'll going to pull of a much better one.

Jeff,

I think for me, it's possible they combined Hela with Death (the Cosmic Aspect). Therefore she MIGHT be kind of more powerful/powerful enough.

I do get why you might not LIKE Hulk versus Surtur...but honestly it's just 5 seconds of it. Certainly MORE than enough time for Thor and Loki to a) find Dad/Odin and b) Get him to send Surtur back.

I dunno if it was a nod, but I will admit, the timing is pretty good.

Also I think they needed to do something with Hulk to explain why he wasn't around (or at least not on Earth) when Civil War went down. This works for me.

I could even see a legitimate 'meta' reasoning.

The Collector picks up Hulk because 'only human what has beaten an Asgardian in raw combat' (Loki, Avengers Uno) then has him gathering dust in the Collection until the Grandmaster goes "Oh, hey, bro-dude, are you EVER going to break that FREAKIN' BOX OPEN?! IT'S KILLING ME seeing such potential just SITTING THERE!"

Personal opinions about M:TG collectors vs. players may be factored into this, here.

wait, this doesn't come out till november? I was expecting this summer...

Norse,

Sadly they had to move this around to allow Spidey to get his own movie. Not that I'm complaining since it was/is a GREAT Spidey movie...just wish Marvel Studios hadn't moved Thor around for it.

Wei Ji,

Very good meta reason.

Gladiator World is a nod to Planet Hulk methinks

Its a full body macarena , not a nod.

Is Hela Cate Blanchett? if so holy shit!!!

Everything she does cranks the coolness factor to the stratosphere!! just wow! I'm in love!

Son of Cayden,

Yes Blanchett is our Hela. She makes my heart swell. :)

Norsey,

Well full bodied but still different. I mean there's no Red King. Hulk doesn't have a Warbound. Oh and no one shot him into space that I saw.

I thought he shot himself into space at the end of Age of Ultron. He was in the cloaked quintet, and I thought he just went as far as possible.

Imbicatus,

No...Quinjets can't leave the upper atomsphere. It is known. Unless he found some kind of wormhole on Earth, the Quinjet crashed on Earth, not out in space.

Fury mentions the quinjet being found in Fiji at the end, but supposedly it shows up offworld in the trailers. Maybe there were some other shenanigans that transported both.

Yeah, she said if Frodo gave her the ring, things would go spectacularly badly, and here they are, going spectacularly badly!

It's all Frodo's fault!

Maybe it was found in F.I.J.I., like Coulson was in T.A.H.I.T.I.?

Nah. I'm pretty sure fiji was the island, not an acronym.

As for whether it got transported off world? No idea. I still think it stayed on Earth and Banner/Hulk some how got taken off world.

Spoiler:

Months ago, there was a rumor Fin Fang Foom was also in it, but I'm not sure now, especially since they've already shown Fenrir and Surtur.

If you're looking for suggestions, I'd recommend Joe Quesada and Ike Perlmutter.
