Hey I thought we might want to meet and greet before I put up the recruitment for our own campaign. You see another one went up asking for a Hell's Rebels GM, so I didn't want to throw ours up at the same time. I'll go for it today as soon as we've met though!

Felicia returns the gesture in an exaggerated manner, "Pleased to meet you as well! I hope you're both here for the same reason I am. Have you heard about the *ahem* thing going on tomorrow morning?" She glances about with a nervous energy.

Lubella glances around to see who might be listening in. "Yes, I wonder what's going to happen. The authorities won't be too pleased, I imagine," she says discreetly.


If what my father used to say is true, I imagine... Amalie's voice trails off as her lips clamp shut.

What are you doing Amalie? You don't know these people at all! They know nothing of who you are or who your father is. Why bring it up now?!

Felicia lets out an adorable albeit mildly crazy sounding giggle. "Authorities? You mean those delusional thugs that think Thrune gives a damn about them? Ha! Bunch'a big tattletales is all they are."

She notices Amalie cut her sentence off and steps toward her, softening her tone. "Hmm? Why so glum? Hey you're among friends now! Felicia Lafou, pleased to meet you both! Things could get crazy tomorrow, us girls should stick together! Whaddaya say?"

Lubella was a blonde, blue eyed halfling woman with a slightly bronze complexion. Her clothing betrayed some foreign influences, and she spoke with a slight Kelish accent.

"Well, keep in mind that the Lord Mayor is a Thrune," Lubella replied. "Don't fool yourself, he's not going to sit by and do nothing. Yes, things could get crazy." She wondered how much to say to these two. I need information, but I have to be careful about giving away too much to the wrong people.


M'name's Amalie - Amalie Hirtzel. It'd sure be nice to have some friends around, that's for sure. And I'm not glum, so much anymore at least. Scared for the people, really. My father is - wasn't a good man. A vile person, actually. I ran away when I realized I didn't like hurting people like that. I much prefer to heal them. I've a touch of magic in that vein. Amalie says, taken aback slightly by the admonishment and joviality Felicia put forward.

would you each mind sending me a spoiler full of stuff you want to tell the prospective GM's about your characters? I'm just doing a paragraph about personality, party role, and the fact that my custom race is not mandatory if we choose one that doesn't like it.

"Aww you are just so sweet! I much prefer to hurt people that would hurt nice people. Not much for magic anyway, it smells funny." She pulls her menacingly shaped blade from her pack. It looks like a hybrid between a sword and an axe with wicked corners and edges. Felicia carefully wipes down the blade with a slightly oiled cloth before placing it back in it's scabbard. She stretches, causing a pair of men walking by to gawk. She seems not to notice.

Personality:
-Lubella is outgoing and friendly, but is initially guarded about confiding in others.

-She has matured since her days of youthful indiscretions and is trying to be more responsible. She still likes her wine and can get a bit rowdy when she has over-indulged.

-She is highly altruistic; she will devote considerable energy to helping people she doesn't know. Wealth is unimportant for it's own sake - it only matters as a mean to helping others.

-She will associate with evil creatures if the greater good is served, or if she feels that they could be redeemed.

-Violence is a last resort; diplomacy is her preferred option.

10 min Background:

Step 1: Write 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character.
1. Lubella is outgoing and friendly, but is initially guarded about confiding in others.

7. She fears that when confronted by a fiend such as a devil or demon, she will freeze or make the wrong decision, leading to the death of a companion.
8. She has matured since her days of youthful indiscretions and is trying to be more responsible. She still likes her wine and can get a bit rowdy when she has over-indulged.
9. Although she was initiated into the Cult of the Dawnflower, Lubella identifies more with the Avistan branch of the church of Sarenrae. She regards the Cult of the Dawnflower as overly militaristic, and not focused enough on compassion and redemption.

Step 2: List at least two goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game.

1. Send money to her mother in Katapesh to enable her to live comfortably. (character goal)
2. Convince an evil doer to turn away from their destructive path and towards the light of Sarenrae. (character goal)
3. Defeat a devil in single combat (player goal)

Step 3: List at least two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet.

1. Lubella experimented with Pesh when she was younger. She didn't become seriously addicted, but it still wasn't easy to quit. She saw the effects on people who didn't stop soon enough and is hostile towards drug dealers.
2. Carlotta Jakupi, the High Priestess of the Temple of Saranrae in Korvasa (see people below), doesn't expect Lubella to return from her mission.

Step 4: Describe at least three people that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile. If you like, you can include an enemy of yours here as well, so I have an instant NPC nemesis to throw at you.

1. Carlotta Jakupi: High Priestess of the Temple of Saranrae in Korvasa. She regards Lubella as a bad influence: irresponsible and too fond of partying. She admits Lubella is talented, but considers that talent wasted. (GM: As far as I know, the leader of the temple in Korvosa is not detailed in the any official material. Feel free to alter the details as you see fit.)
2. Petros Lorrimor. Soon after her arrival, on a dare, Lubella broke into the Jeggare Library at the University of Korvaso one night with a couple of new friends. They were discovered by a academic working late, who turned out to be none other than the renowned scholar, Petros Lorrimor. Given her record, Lubella feared she would be suspended at the temple, or worse. Luckily, Professor Lorrimor took a liking to her, and did not report the intrusion, on the condition that he could call on her for a favor in the future.
3. Sandor Ricci: human dockworker in Korvosa. Lubella befriended him soon after she arrived in Korvosa. Sondor was one of the people involved with Lubella in the break in of the Jeggare Library.

Step 5: Describe three memories, mannerisms, or quirks that your character has. They don't have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor.

1. Lubella remembers riding on her father's shoulders at a fair when she was four. She felt safe and happy.
2. She remembers her father lying in bed, face pale and gasping for breath, his body ravaged by plague. She felt frightened and helpless, and he died a short time later. She was 14 years old.
3. She speaks in a formal manner with strangers, or when she is nervous.

I should also add that Lubella has been submitted for a Curse of the Crimson Throne Recruitment, although her odds there aren't great, considering the large number of applicants (34, I believe).

Looking at our team members, we seem pretty balanced. I'm not seeing any obvious weaknesses.

I'll have to end-up reworking Amalie a bit (she was rolled as a 2nd level, so I'll have to tweak her back down to 1).

What are our thoughts on the subs so far?

As I see it so far, we have:

Misroi as interest only (said they'd be adding GM creds later).

Corsario dotting as interest only.

DoubleGold:

First: I have the whole series, but I will be a busy man in the summer, thus you may have to replace me, or you may not, I'll see when it comes around and let you know.

Posting habits: often. Though there were games I was sick or under stress and I did not post often. I had overwhelmed myself, but learned to limit the games I was in.

Build requirements. Build your character as if you were following PFS rules. I will allow any core or featured races, except Orc and Drow since they are discriminated against as evil.

House Rules: Technically speaking none, or very small. I do allow creative solutions just like PFS allows and don't punish for creative solutions. Like if you have to disable a trap, but you cannot get high enough on the disable device, you can disable it if your descriptive writing makes sense. If the only way to get magic item X is to kill opponent X, you still get it if you resolved the solution with diplomacy or made him fall into a volcano where you would not be able to recover the item. Experience will not be tracked, but you will be a level behind or ahead if you do better or worse than average, find all the traps, kill all the enemies, do all the secret missions. Your level will be in par with PFS. If book 2 says your level is anywhere from 4 to 6, you will be anywhere within that range in the PFS portion of that book, since whole books are not played in PFS but only portions. Then say book 3 says level 9 to 11 for PFS, any part past the PFS portion of book 2 means you can be levels 7 or 8, etc.

GM style: My style has changed over the years. I try not to mess with the difficulty of the game, if three of you are fighting, tough luck and if seven of you are fighting and it makes combat much easier, then good you have the advantage. I do mess with the difficulty if the book says 2d4 skeletons pop out and I send out as many as I think would be fair. When the book does not have a map for the encounter, I'll make up the scenery a bit. If you want maps, I can use google Docs, if it ain't important to you, I can use theatre of the mind. I take rule read as written and really read into it, so that it makes sense. It it says it takes 1 hour to dig that up with a shovel and everyone is using a shovel, I'll be like it said a shovel and more than one was used.

Resume: My style has changed, so looking at it might not help you that much, not to mention I've been sick in the 2016 year affecting my ability to DM wl. I'm recently Dming Mummy's Mask book 1 for PFS, which would be my most accurate version.

The Catch: I want a module DMed for me in return, don't care what it is, just want a module Dmed for me.

Posting habits
I should be able to post each day, but I don't really apologize or expect apologies for a single day or so where you just can't get on. Understand that as a gm sometimes it can be difficult because I need to get to my material so I can't just post from my phone. If I have an extended absence, like getting into police academy, I will try to get a friend to interim GM.
When I bot players (After 24 hrs) usually I just roll safe attacks or have them be distracted by some comical non story thing.

Build requirements
I am partial to a 20 pt buy, standard build. Custom material needs to be discussed with me, and I'm actually more accepting of player created than 3pp.

House Rules/ optional systems
I'm not married to any one system. I could take it or leave it, but wouldn't mind test driving one during an encounter or two.
I do have several house rules that come up, but essentially they are just things that make sense. For instance each character gets a "Personal lore" To know things that she should know.

Personal Lore
"I am not trained in K (local), but I should be able to find my favorite bar. "
This roll is equal to level + Highest Mental Mod + class skill + Knowledge modifiers + Situational bonus
Personal lore can be a knowledge or profession check based on things the character should already know how to do or know all about.

Most players seem to enjoy my thought process.
GM Style/extras
I tend to be a more forgiving and comical GM. I can get serious when need be, but I prefer to keep the mood light. I will kill characters though. You'll see custom NPC's and some homebrewed content here and there but I'm careful to respect the flow of the content.
My characters may swear and my battle animations get graphic at times, but I'll tone down if asked lol.

That said, I do like roll20 and would prefer to use it as I already have the maps loaded in.

I can fulfil doublegold's catch, but he seems like a stick in the mud to me. Just my preference though he seems perfectly capable and I'd enjoy myself.

I threw my own hat in the ring to show that if we have no good options I will take it on myself rather than let you down. I'd recruit an additional player and leave Felicia in an NPC slot. This would be difficult as I have taken on another campaign as well rn, but I could manage, especially once I land this new job


My biggest "eh" with DoubleGold's was the whole build out using PFS rules. Or is he wanting to run this as a PFS game?

As for Space Duck, I'm confused by the Roll20 bit. Is he wanting to just use Roll20 for maps? Or actually doing sessions on there (re: dealing with the cat in games).

From his latest post, Cosario seems acceptable to me. I like that he's willing to change things in the AP when necessary.

It's too bad that Misroi hasn't posted further interest, because for me it's a good sign that he ran a module all the way through to the end. However, a dot by itself only goes so far.

My opinion is that we should make a decision soon to keep the momentum going.

I agree with Lubella, Misroi seems pretty great, but given that Cosario has expressed interest and has flexibility about things I'd say that they're the best option.


Misroi just posted up, and honestly either Misroi or Cosario seem like the best fit to me personally. Either way, I'll need to adjust Amalie to drop back to 1 and make sure the stats fit the right way if we change to a different point buy.

To me Corsario seems fun, but his app was kinda bare and minimal, and I hope he doesn't GM like that, I love that he will go off book though!

Misroi seems reliable, safe, and well spoken. Not kooky, but that's both positive and negative.

I'm happy with either, but I'll abstain my vote for a while to look at their other stuff. What about the rest of you?

(Btw I am GM Space Duck and I withdraw because we have much better choices lol ^-^)

My first choice would be Misroi because he has a proven record of sticking with something to the end. A module is nothing like and AP, of course, but still. Corsario would be my second choice (with a higher chance of needing to recruit another GM down the road). I have nothing against DoubleGold, but there is a condition attached there, and I'm not going to push for others to meet it.

Seriously, though, hey folks! Good to meet you all - I hope we have a lot of fun with this one. I'm currently running Hell's Rebels in meatspace as well, and we're close to finishing the third book, so I have some practical experience on the campaign as well. I'll have a full design doc relatively soon, definitely by Friday, so you can have the weekend to tweak your characters.
