Do Monkey Goblins qualify for Goblin feats?

Rules Questions

Hi everyone, quick question, my brother is planning to build a Pistolero/Gun scavanger for his new character. he was wondering if a monkey goblin would meet the "goblin" requirement for the goblin gunslinger feat. technically he a gun slinging pirate monkey goblin that duel wields medium pistols, than reloads them with his tail (not optimized, but fun). does it work?

They are an offshoot of the goblin race (unlike hobgoblin that are a separate race althogether), so I would say that yes being goblins they can take goblin feat.

As for the tail, I don't think, by RAW, it can reload a gun.

Quote:
Prehensile Tail (Ex) All monkey goblins have long, flexible tails that they can use to carry objects. They cannot wield weapons with their tails, but the tails do allow them to retrieve small objects stowed on their persons as a swift action.

There is a big bifference between retrieving a small item (say a bullet or a powder charge) and having enough fine motors kill/hand-eye coordination to load the weapon.

he's not loading the gun with his tail. he plans on holding the gun (not wielding)with his tail and uses his now free right hand to load both guns. (with rapid reload and cartridges) than hand it back. if my memory serves me right, its a free action to take your hand off a weapon and to grip it again.

Ah I see, yeah, depending how you define small items, that could work as all he need is enough strength to hold onto it.

Monkey Goblins do not qualify for Goblin feats. They'd need a "Goblin Blood" feature.

I'd allow it. Basically a goblin subrace. Not like they have any racial support of their own.

Hobgoblins and monkey goblins both share the "goblinoid" subtype with goblins.

Subtypes are definitive (Drow qualify as Elf for all purposes thanks to the "elf" subtype), if that subtype was "goblin" I would not hesitate to state that they qualified. For me "goblinoid" is close enough, but another GM may not agree.

I'd tend to agree that monkey goblins count as goblins for the purposes of prerequisites and whatnot. if nothing else just take adopted.

HeroLab considers Monkey Goblins as regular Goblins & lets one select Goblin Feats, Goblin Traits & Goblin Archetypes with no errors. Based on this, Monkey Goblins most assuredly meets the Goblin requirement. Hope that helps.

you could just get a wand of Unseen Servant or a string of porters (each NPC porter tends to die off from area of effect spells).

Monkey Goblin Inr Sea Bestiary has them on pg 16 as Monkey goblin barbarian 1, CR 1/2, NE Small humanoid (goblinoid). Island of Dr. MoreauMediogalti... "Monkey goblins are an offshoot of the goblin race ..." should cinch it...
now to just get it past your home game GM...
