Warrior spirit with a double weapon

Rules Questions

Silver Crusade

Concerning fighter advanced weapon training: warrior spirit.

It works with one weapon each day.

How does it work with a double weapon?

Can you enchant both ends?
And if so, can you enchant them as one std action?
And is it one use per end, or one use for the weapon?

I would say you can enchant both ends. Each end would require a point of spiritual energy and a separate action.

^ This. You can do both since they're the same weapon, but it'd require separate actions and 1 point per end.

I also just realized that Warrior Spirit doesn't actually have an action listed...

Defaults to standard for SLAs and Su abilities.

The action part struck me as odd as well. The Warpriest and Magus have similar abilities and are both swift actions. Given that Warrior Spirit doesn't specify, it defaults to standard.

The Occultist's Legacy Weapon ability also uses a standard.

and the paladin's divine bond is a standard.

I hate to be a spoil sport, but I would say you can only enchant one end of the weapon.

Double weapons count as two weapons for the purposes of enchanting them normally, and I would say this is no different.

Since you bond with only 1 "weapon" I think you can only use Warrior Spirit on one end.

Yeah, Inquisitors have to take the Double Bane feat in order to do so.

Exactly. And I certainly wouldn't let a warpriest, paladin, or anybody else (with similar ability) enhance two separate weapon, which is how a double weapon is treated mechanically despite being one "physical" weapon.

Good point, it looks like you are correct.

For reference, here is the FAQ that goes over the general rule.

Sorry, it would be great if you could at least choose to split the bonus between the two ends.

Yeah, it kinda sucks. So far, I've been searching very hard for reasons to take a double weapon, and here I thought I might have one. But alas, awesome looks are still the only thing going for them...

Thanks to all for your thoughts, though!

I mean you can use double weapons two-handed, so they're not strictly worse (though probably don't have as good of damage die as a greatsword or the crit range of a nodachi).

Two-bladed sword is probably your best bet, and will have slightly worse crit range and damage, but you could use it two-handed. It's not optimal, but it's an okay choice if you really want a double weapon.

Damn I was hoping to be able to use this with my double sling fighter.

You still could, simply focus on enchanting one end of it and using this on the other.
