Seeking players for an Adventure Path (see thread for details)

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 65 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

So, I've decided to give play-by-post another try. Years ago I frequented another board as a player, and I'd like to try my hand now at GMing for a play-by-post group.

I am looking for players that can generally post at least once a day. Please do not apply if you cannot do so. I will be trying to post several times a day if possible. I do reserve the right to place the game on "vacation," especially around the holidays, but it is unlikely that such a hiatus will extend more than 3 days at any time, and would most often probably involve a one day hiatus on the weekends if I happen to be busier than normal. If special circumstances arise a player can let me know and I can make exceptions or additional hiatuses.

Now, to the Adventure Path. I can offer multiple options in that regard, some of which I prefer more than others. I have hard copies of at least the first book for Rise of the Runelords, Kingmaker, Skull and Shackles, Shattered Star, Reign of Winter, Mummy's Mask, Iron Gods, Giantslayer, and Strange Aeons. I have other options in PDF form, but unless none of the aforementioned adventures interest anyone, I would prefer to play one of them.

Additionally, I have ran Rise of the Runelords, Kingmaker, Mummy's Mask, Iron Gods, Giantslayer, and Strange Aeons at least partway through, and in the case of RotRL and KM, partyway through multiple times. I am currently running Kingmaker and Strange Aeons at my face to face games.

So, with all of that said, I would like some input on which one people would prefer. I am personally leaning toward Shattered Star primarily, with Iron Gods, Giantslayer, or Mummy's Mask as my secondary choices, unless someone can make a really good argument for something else.

Just a little information in regard to what I will require of players in this game:
-Written backstory (it can be as short or as long as you find necessary, but this will be the primary standard by which each potential player is judged)
-15 PB
-All classes, feats, etc. from Paizo products (no 3rd party)
-Core Races (others may be allowed with a good enough backstory)
-1 campaign trait and 2 other traits, and please make an effort to work these into your backstory)
-ability to post once every 24 hours, minimum

Let me know if you have any questions, and if you are interested in playing, any suggestions on the Adventure Path choice. Feel free to submit characters, and once we decide on the book you are free to edit or create the backstory to more closely fit the path.

I don't think you'll have problems finding players for any of them. Just run whichever one you want to run the most.

I'd like to leave that up to the players to some extent. I realize there will be plenty of applications, which is great, as it should give me an opportunity to locate players who are good roleplayers and who post frequently.

Liberty's Edge

I add a dot for Iron Gods, which I've always been wanting to play.

Dotting for Mummy's Mask. I want to GM this one for my kids and their friends but I would really like to play it first as a PC.

But, if no one else wants MM then I'll take any other AP from your list.

I'm preparing an Investigator for this.

Iron Gods is definitely most interesting to me of your preferences.

Grand Lodge

I will dot for Mummys Mask

I'm interested in all of them.

I'd love to get in on any of them, personally.

So far we have two votes for Mummy's Mask, and two votes for Iron Gods. Voting will remain open until 7:00PM EST, and then I will make a decision on what I will run so potential players may begin submitting characters. I will probably keep character submissions open until about the same time tomorrow, or possibly Tuesday, with the plan to get the campaign started as soon as possible.

Dotting for shattered star.

Would like to play Kingmaker, Iron Gods or Strange Aeons.

Submitting this guy. No preference as to adventure path.

First choice would be Giantslayer. Would still be interested in Iron Gods and Shattered Star, though, out of your first and second choices. From the rest, I'd be interested in Rise of the Runelords, Reign of Winter, and Strange Aeons most.

I'd be interested in Mummy's Mask

Grand Lodge

Dotting for mummy mask.

I have the current tally as 4 for Mummy's Mask, 2 and 1/3 for Iron Gods, 1 each for Shattered Star and Giantslayer, and 1/3 of a vote for Kingmaker and Strange Aeons.

We have three other players showing interest but abstaining from the vote.

I'll give Mummy's Mask a try.

Well, I guess I'll dot for an adventure on Mummy's Mask.

EDIT: What's the total amount of gp each character starts with? Do we roll for how much gp we have, use the average gp of each class, or do you have a fixed amount of gp we can have?

mummy's mask or iron gods looks cool.

Dark Archive

Hey, Pendrak, Mummy's Mask-ing you to run her AP, XD

So it would seem.

Each character will receive average gold for her class.

If you rename your character you will have a better chance of receiving a place in this game.

FYI, dotting for MM

It appears that Mummy's Mask is the players' choice.

To reiterate, character creation guidelines are as follows:

-15 PB
-All classes, feats, etc. from Paizo products (no 3rd party)
-Core Races (others may be allowed with a good enough backstory)
-1 campaign trait and 2 other traits, and please make an effort to work these into your backstory
-average wealth for your class

Character submissions will remain open until Tuesday at noon EST.

Let me know if you have any questions, and feel free to PM me in regard to playing races that are not Core.

Background skills?

If you decide to do a 20 PB shattered star LMK, I would love to play.

I will not be using any optional systems.

Although I wouldn't mind hearing an argument for why I should...

Sindenky wrote:

I might consider it, but if I did I'd probably run it for 3 players if we are using that PB, as I find that Pathfinder Adventure Paths are too easy at 20 PB or higher for 4 players.

I do have a lot of free time currently.

Alright, I'm getting my elven archaeologist bard made (just gotta recalculate her gear with her average starting gp).

Is there a way to edit the title of the recruitment thread to reflect that this is now recruitment for Mummy's Mask?

I've played Mummy's Mask before but the PbP died REALLY quickly, i think we got up to the third or forth room in the dungeon of the first book, so hopefully that's not a problem.

I've been wanting to play a dervish since forever, i'll submit something as soon as decide which dervish archetype i'm going with.

To be honest I don't have a problem with a player who has played or run the entire Adventure Path. I assume we are all adults here, and understand the difference between meta-knowledge and player knowledge.

Also I have a soft spot for dervishes of any kind, just FYI.

Grand Lodge

The background skills allow you 2 extra skill points to give your character a bit more fleshing out, only a few of the Knowledge skills are there, all the craft and perform and job skills are in there.

I have seen lots of people say that if you do background skills you have to pick a job like skill to help flesh your character out a bit more and it allows you to since skills on lower SP classes are needed for the basics that every adventurer should have.

Applying with Aliva, alias of Raltus

all her info is in the profile.

Alrighty, i'm going Dervish of Dawn Bard, will have stuff done by tomorrow.

Copying Aliva's format...

Applying with Irakelesh, alias of MindXing.

All his info is in the profile.

Liberty's Edge

Ok, bowing out of this one, have fun, y'all!

I think I will try with a Vigilante, if I can get her ready in time

Aliva Kulthane wrote:

Unless I'm missing something her point buy is 20, which is 5 points too high for an adventure path.

I thought I lowered it but I could be wrong

I must have for someone else I was applying with to a different game.

Edit: Ok I adjusted, she has the +2 to Dex for her Human bonus.

I will re post her stats and such when I am home and fix her on HeroLab.

--------------------
Background:
Born to a middle-class merchant family in Wati, the middle child of five, Selassie's interest in the priesthood was kindled at a young age when a Pharasman midwife saved the life of her mother during the birth of her youngest sister. As she grew older she gravitated to the Great Mausoleum and other places frequented by the clergy of Pharasma, until they eventually took notice of her and took her on as an acolyte. Now, as a recently ordained cleric, she has been asked to join with a party of adventurers to ensure that the exploration of the tombs of the necropolis disturb the rest of the dead as little as possible, and also to put down any undead abominations that may be lurking in them.

Appearance:
Technically a quarter Kelesh, but it's hard to tell, as she looks very Garundi, tall and sturdy. She prefers to wear her hair in a single braid, rather then the many braids often worn by her people, though she often decorates it with a silver clasp. She prefers the more liberal style of Pharasman vestments, in blue embroided with silver, though for the most formal occasions she will wear the more traditional black clothing.

Personality:
She tends to try to cultivate an air of solemn dignity to cover her uncertainty in new stiutations and when dealing with new people. Once she opens up she reveals a warm heart, though she is still on the quiet side. She actually has a pretty good sense of humour, though she doesn't generally make jokes herself she's not above laughing when other people do.

** spoiler omitted **...

Not to be Mr Perfection, but I think the GM wants the participants to have their PCs with 3 traits (with one of them being a campaign trait), so I think you're missing a trait. Just something I thought I'd point out-unless I misread what the GM wants.

No problem. On the bright side, I also noticed just now that you only have 2 traits; you can choose 2 traits as well as a campaign trait for this game.

Edit: Ninja'd by KoolKobold. Both players need another trait.

Apologies for ninjaing you Penrak, just wanted to help. Didn't know another PC did the same thing.

Grand Lodge

I am pretty sure I had 3 traits then read it again and went back to 2 traits. I will get her all fixed up this evening.

Oops! I failed to pay attention. That's what I get for trying to make a character late at night I guess. Fixing now.

Edit: Fixed it.
