From Time Magazine's description of D+D in today's induction of the game "that gave rise to World of Warcraft" into the National Toy Hall of Fame.
The charisma score is usable to decide such things as whether a witch capturing a player will turn him into a swine or keep him enchanted as a lover.”
So check your favorite character's charisma score and tell us all..
Swine or Lover?

Charisma is the least relevant of the Ability Scores, it's true. But personally I never to make it a dump stat - I'm a hero, dammit! So I'm a lover, not a swine.
+++!!!
Good call, and I couldn't agree more. Every time I see some guy on these boards bragging about how dumping his charisma allowed him to get a few extra points of strength (or some other prime requisite) or even how dumping strength allowed his wizard's INT (and hence DCs for spells) to rise to even more astronomical levels, I just have to cringe.
I'm a hero, dammit, not a brain-dead social pariah!
Think of it as the "Clint Scale". Do you want to be the good, the bad or the ugly?
All my characters have a CHA of at least 12, when I'm doing point buy.
YMMV.

Swine...Cha 5 (conversion inquisition dwarf, so his face stats are still through the charts) and Cha 7 (Barbarian...but between racial, traits and Ioun stone, he has an effective Cha10 for Diplomacy and Intimidate).
So come to think of it, in most cases why does Cha matter if your face stats can still be quite good?

Seduction checks baby. Its either put points in charisma or waste good gold. My current Dm has a very fun rule of thumb. Each pc gets 1 recurring love interest per point of cha bonus.

I tend to think of playing a character who needs (or even just wants) a high Charisma as playing on "hard mode." It's an easy dump stat, especially since there are other ways of boosting your social skills, so needing it means you'll probably have to dump something more important. That said, even when I don't need it, I rarely dump it outright-- you never know when you're going to need that Diplomacy check. Or to not be a swine.
