The Millenium Falcon (Star Wars)

Slave One. TNG's Enterprise. The Arcadia.

I need to give it some thought, but ships from the Mass Effect and Babylon 5 settings are likely where I will make my selections from.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Sulaco from Aliens. It is the iconic generic warship in my mind.
Liberator from Blake's 7. Gotta love the underdogs and their weird ship. Remember to clear those neutron blasters.
Cylon Basestars, from the original Battlestar Galactica. Proper ominous hovering.

I seem to like grey ships. There are so many more to choose from, but I get confused by all the options. About half of Babylon 5 and half of Farscape. Klingo-Romulan Bird of Prey, and the ST:TOS Romulan Warbird. A flat ship is good ship, too.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

There are others that are cooler, but I think these stand out as 'favorites', for a variety of reasons.

Prometheus from Stargate SG-1, because it genuinely looked like the sort of ship the US military might build. All blocky and practical, rather than jumping straight to something shiny and advanced. SG-1 did a good job of making each species have very distinctive technology.
Tin Man from Star Trek: The Next Generation. This was one of the first 'living' ships I saw in SF/Fantasy, and always stood out as being both a cool ship and having an interesting backstory. Kind of feels like a precursor to Moya from Farscape.
Visitor Mothership from V. Between the vast motherships and the shuttlecraft, I just really liked the look of the tech on that show.

In no particular order... and in two categories, because reasons.

Big Ships:
24th Century Romulan Warbird (dat wasted space and senseless design!)from Star Trek: The Next Generation

Moya from Farscape

Shadow Battlecrab from Babylon 5

Honorable Mention: The Ambassador-Class Enterprise-C.

Little Ships:
The Millennium Falcon from Star Wars

The Milano from Guardians of the Galaxy

Max/the Ship from Flight of the Navigator

The title ship from Star Ocean.

Moya, Talyn, and Lo'La (Farscape)

Millenium Falcon
Star Destroyer
Space Shuttle (I always wished NASA had put a moon lander in the cargo bay, had the pilot point the nose of the shuttle toward the moon and fly it like a friggen spaceship . . . )

Small fighters-
Buck Roger's ship from the tv series in the 70s? link
Hawk's ship from the same series link
and the Colonial Viper from Battlestar Galactica original series link

Enterprise-D

Normandy SR-1

Normandy SR-2

2 people marked this as a favorite.

The Normandy from Mass Effect, the Serenity from Firefly, and the third one's a toughy but I guess I have to go with the Outlaw Star from the anime of the same name.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Hm, the Ebon Hawk (KotOR), The original Romulan Warbird (love the design), and going really old-school...The Solar Queen.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Fighters -
X-Wing - Star Wars
Vipers - Original BSG
Starfighter - Buck Rogers 70's/80's show.

Larger Vessels
Enterprise Refit (ST:TMP) I've always loved that version.
Whitestar - Babylon 5
Star Destroyer - Star Wars

Honorable Mention-
Nell from Battle Beyond the Stars
Moya - Farscape
Starfuries - Babylon 5

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Millenium Falcon. Just the perfect size ship.

Colonial Vipers. First space fighter I ever saw. HM to the Buck Rogers Thunderfighters, which were actually going to be the COlonial Viper design but got beat out. I like both designs better then Tie Fighters and x wings. A streamlined and powered-up Y-Wing would be megacool, but alas, has been replaced.

I love both the Battlestar design and the Galaxy-class. Both are iconics.

In terms of comics/anime, I have to agree the Space Battleship Yamamoto is my favorite. In terms of video games, I have no particular favorites, although the Claw design TIE fighters are pretty cool.

Enterprise E

Battlestar Galactica (James Edward Olmos version)

Discovery One from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Hmmm...

Smaller ships:
- Millenium Falcon (Star Wars)
- Serenity (Firefly)
- Outlaw Star (Outlaw Star)

Larger Ships:
- Enterprise D (Star Trek)
- Normandy SR-2 (Mass Effect)
- SCVA-76 Nahel Argama (Gundam)

The smaller ones all seem to be light smuggler type ships. The Enterprise D because of all the possible Star Trek ships this one introduced the holo deck. Normandy SR-2 because I spent SO much time captaining her. And how could ANYONE not love the Argama multi role mobile suit support battleship.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Normandy SR2 (Mass Effect)
Moya (Fascape)
Enterprise A (Star Trek)

Millennium Falcon (love me some Star Wars)
White Star (Babylon 5)
Battlestar Galactica (original series)

I thought about being silly and including the moon "ship" from Gurren Lagenn. Or maybe the ships that throw galaxies at each other like shuriken.

Liberty's Edge

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Nostromo (Alien)
Arcadia (Space Pirate Captain Harlock)
Heart of Gold (Hitchhiker's Guide to the galaxy)

I’m having trouble limiting myself to three here, really, but I’ll try to keep to the spirit of the thing. :)

Hmm… I guess I would have to go with, in no particular order:

the Destiny Ascension (Mass Effect - why yes, I am an asari fangirl, why do you ask?)
B-wings (Star Wars)
Klingon Bird-of-Prey (Star Trek - both cruiser and fun-size!)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

The Lexx (Lexx)
The Equinox (Start Trek Voyager)

Anything from this list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_spacecraft_in_the_Culture_series

but especially the GOU/PS Falling Outside The Normal Moral Constraints.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I didn't have a "small ships" list, so adding that now.

The X-Wing (original trilogy version)
Spaceman Spiff's ship (not sure if it ever had a name)
Star Fox's Arwing (for when you need your one-man fighter to be able to take on multiple space fleets with Smart Bombs to spare)

Spoiler:
Also, an honorable mention to the Tector-class Star Destroyer. Don't ask me why.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Post Dated Check Loan (Schlock Mercenary) Ok fine, I just really liked the AI.

The Muffin XFB-1981-B (Legostar Galactica) It had everything on it. Holodeck, room with chains, command station, everything.

The Savage Chicken (Freefall) Held together by luck, spit and duct tape. The owner bought it used after a crash, entirely because it was cheap.

The Exchange

The Liberator (Blake's Seven) - awesome Sci-Fantasy RPG material in that series.

The TARDIS (Doctor Who).

The Millenium Falcon (Star Wars).

2 people marked this as a favorite.

For a large ship of elegance and practicality, I find it hard to beat the Battlestar. I could watch it for hours. Next, would probably be the Klingon Bird of Prey from Star trek 4. Next up would be probably the classic Imperial Destroyer from Star Wars episode 4. These three manage style and personality while not being too far over the top in unrealistic design without being as practical and somewhat boring far more realistic designs.

I have answered this before on Facebook, but I have had more time to think, I have to break it down like some here have into categories.

Ships for an adventuring crew:
Raza from Dark Matter
Serenity from Firefly
The Ghost from Star Wars Rebels

Capital ships:
Andromeda Ascendant from Andromeda
Defiant from Deep Space 9
Galactica from Battlestar Galactica the reimagined series

Fighter craft:
Starfury/Thunderbolt from Babylon 5
Mk II Viper from Blood & Chrome (it was redesigned from the series to be a little bigger.
Hammerhead from Space: Above & Beyond

Shuttle type craft:
Puddle Jumpers from Stargate Atlantis
The Marauder from Dark Matter
Danube Class Runabout from DS 9

Spelljammer ships:
Triop
Smalljammer
Hummingbird (Who wouldn't want to cast Magic Missle as a capital weapon)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Hmm...

Capital Ships

Bentenmaru - Bodacious Space Pirates

White Star - Babylon 5

Starjammer - X-Men

Shuttles/freighters

Millennium Falcon - Star Wars

I want all the toys that come on the Next Generation Galaxy-class Enterprise. Transporters, food replicators, a decent medical bay, etc. All the toys.

As for the *look* of a ship, I don't care if it's a spaceship and could be a random collection of junk held together by force fields, I want sleek and aerodynamic. The Defiant, the White Star, that chrome SR-71 thing the Queen of Naboo was flitting around in during The Phantom Menace or a Cylon Raider, for sure.

Luxury liner from 5th element

The spaceship inside a giant turtle shell from Space Usagi

Millenium Falcon - because it's so quirky and such a hangar queen

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Large Warships:
Alita/Armitage-class (Star Trek Online)
Prometheus/Daedalus (Stargate)
Tie between the McKenna (Battletech) and the Valiant Strike Carrier (Jovian Chronicles)

Fighters:
Z-95 Headhunter (star Wars)
F-302 (Stargate)
Stalker (Star Trek Online)

Non-Military ships:
Millenium Falcon (Star Wars)
Serenity (Firefly)
Shuttles from Armageddon

I know most people will pick the X-Wing or TIE if they chose one from Star Wars but I prefer the simplicity of the Headhunter to it's more famous descendant.

* The Outrider YT-2400 Heavy Freighter (Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire/like five seconds of Star Wars: A New Hope)

Honorable Mentions

* Your unnamed ship (Solar Winds: The Escape & Solar Winds: UNIVERSE) I LIKE OLD COMPUTER GAMES FROM THE 90S ALL RIGHT

* Enterprise (NX-01) (Star Trek: Enterprise)
