FYI- I'mma outta here for a week, for reals! Starting sunday!
I'll be in a Condo in Florida, spending all my money (and some I haven't earned yet!) taking the family to Disney for a few days.
I should be back to insanity, I mean NORMALITY, on or about Monday the 19th. :)
Happy Mardi Gras Ya'all! (And Happy Valentine's Day too!) :D

thanks, Treppa. yes, at least I don't have to worry about that, whooping cough for a 1 year old is not without dangers.
the bacteria should be killed tomorrow by the antibiotics, but the cough will stay 4 weeks because the caughing fits are caused by a toxic substance the bacteria release into the blood. and that toxin causes the coughing :-(

So one of my friend's has just gotten divorced from his wife of 10 years. They have two kids. Now understand, these are nice people with different personalities. I think. Anyways, the point is my friend wants to do something on the weekends, like board games. He will only have the kids every other week and considering he's a night owl anyway, they'll be asleep for some of what we do. (I think!) So...I guess: should I run Strange Aeons for him? (Most of his tabletop experience is with older D&D editions and Pallidum games.)
Thoughts?
I really like it, I'd highly recommend it and I think you can scale it down to solo fairly easily.

I am glad I was not drinking when I read that Treppa, I could picture it in my mind which made it THAT much more hilarious for me!

OK, that was a bit of a different session I ran tonight. Out of my 4 players, I knew 1 had cancelled - then another suddenly (with an hour's notice) cancelled .... so I only had 2. But another person turned up (he had a character, but doesn't like sudden-canceller chap) so I had 3.
Of course this meant the campaign had to change slightly, so I ran the session with only 1 sentence of preparation.
"Hunt a phoenix in the Dreamlands."
But it turned out very enjoyable.

This whole Krampus one shot I planned has now semi-extended itself to be a full year campaign it looks like since I can't expect a 14 year old girl to fully process the awe, the terror and just the sheer creep factor that I will want to do for Strange Aeons. Plus side, she wants to blackmail Santa Claus.

Some of the best adventures I've run started with one sentence.
I am ususally a prep monster and with so much RL BS going on for me lately I've had to wing some table top games. Players are telling me they're some of the best sessions I've run in years.
Not sure if that means that I should just wing it from now on or not :-)

In my experience, it's much harder to throw a game together off the cuff with the 3.x and PF rules. 1e and 2e were very easy to do that with, IMO. Anymore I have a notebook that I start with a story line that often changes two or more times before I'm happy with it and the biggest prep I do is finding encounters and printing them from the d20pfsrd website. I tell ya, that site is invaluable to me.
