Our life seems to be bounded by allergies and reactions and illnesses these days. I'm not a epidemiologist , but I always wonder if there is some meta factor we are missing. Plastics? Petroleum? Foods inoculated with massive antibiotics and hormones?
Meh. It is above my pay grade. Hopefully when 3D printing becomes a mature technology a lot of these contaminants will disappear.
There are worth things in life. It would be nice to have something like diabetics have, with a fixed diet that is generally healthy and a device to measure how the body is processing things.
Evening, all. What did I miss?
Well, I am working all the time. But that's not really news.
I am making split-pea soup tomorrow. That should be fun. Part of my resolution this year is to bring food to work with me. Trying to go eight hours without eating is dumb, and only leads to me buying stuff that is expensive and unhealthy. I have turkey soup and ham sammich tonight.
I'm also bus driving tomorrow. Always a fun time. I picked up quite a few shifts there, which is good because there isn't much going on at the hospital. Which suits me fine, I am getting a bit burned out dealing with the belligerent drunken junkie segment of Cape Cod's population.
In local news: Barnstable was named one of America's top 100 most dangerous places to live.. So that can't be good for tourism. Having dealt with Falmouth's seamy underside I can believe it, because whatever Falmouth's faults, Barnstable is an order of magnitude worse.

Evening, all. What did I miss?
Well, Patrick's latest round of bus driving duty turned out to be relatively quiet, after he was tasked with transporting a group of mimes. Meanwhile, Holger's efforts to alleviate his son's cold with chicken soup caught the attention of a major restaurant chain looking to expand it's menu. And, across town, Max and Gary's quest to locate a better....No, wait! That's my soap opera!

Split-pea soup is almost a thing.
I don't know why, but there is something that satisfies a deep thrifty Pictish part of my soul when I can get about twenty meals for and outlay of roughly $10
In another parking lot. It's not so bad now, I don't do the parking lot shuffle as much now that my hospital time is limited. The weather is cool, but not uncomfortable and I should be home by 7pm which will give me a chance to rest before my shift at WHOI.
I'm about to dig into a virtual pile of books I bought with Cthulhu Mythos stories. Pretty stoked about that. Over the summer I bought a couple hard-copy books at GenCon from the Pelgrane Press booth with some good Mythos-inspired stories. One in particular was very well done: It was written by Rob Heinsoo, of WotC fame, and it was set in Polynesia and dealt with the Mythos through their cultural lens. Very well done.
It's 5 am and I just ate my... Uh... Dinner? It could be a breakfast as I got up around 3 am.

Indeed. But it all cooks down into a yummy green soup. And I dislike peas as a rule, but this treatment of them doesn't bother me.

Pish. easy as falling off a log. I'll get off work, then be back for another 16-hour shift on Sunday/Monday! Then School in Boston Monday afternoon followed by work again Midnight Tuesday! ad infinitum.
Best thing is? I couldn't be happier. Why? Because I am forever grateful. By being grateful I remain happy. And happiness is the end state we all strive for, paupers or millionaires. I live in it constantly, and it makes any chore I have set before me light as a feather.
Finally got around to downloading all of the Legendary Planet goodies I had been blowing off. Good stuff! And I see a certain badger's name displayed prominently :)
I'll have some fun going through all of that stuff

Hey All,
Sorry for absence, but I am on a trip with my daughter this week/end.
As I have mentioned, she was at space camp in 2015 the same time they were filming a documentary, "The Mars Generation". And she is featured in the film fairly prominently.
Many thanks to the producers and NETFLIX for making it possible for her to attend the grand premiere this weekend at Sundance in Salt Lake City Utah. The weather here is phenomenal. IF YOUR FREAKING LOVE SNOW ;P
So far My daughter and a few other Space Campers in the film who managed to make the trip have been at two screenings of the film (which seems to be very well received) and done Q&A afterwords. Sunday they have a full day of interviews lined up for them and another screening. Then we have to catch a plane early in the morning to get back.
I, while I admit that I am a little biased because my kid is in the film, think it is a very well done documentary. It gives a bit of history of the space program, of opinions of past and current scientists, mixed in with a lot of footage of the space campers doing their thing. Everything a good documentary should be. And it seems to hold the interest of adults and younger kids alike. Look for it in 3 months or so on Netflix.
So, short version, sorry I'm absent from all of my PbP's, I'll be back to my USUAL level of insanity of work/shows/games starting Tuesday. :)
(My daughter's show of Guys and Dolls is loading into my stage tomorrow, without me, so I'm a little nervous. And I'm currently also in rehearsals of Sweeney Todd. I'm just a glutton for punishment!) :)

Good news is I can breathe again and stay up past 9:30 so my PbPs are up and running once more! Yay.
