That and Batman and Catwoman might find a way to raise Damien better. Maybe.

Well... you don't need to be reminded of that. How can anyone ever forget how horrible a character Damien consistently is...

And yeah... Don't count on that. Catwoman is the type of character who makes the people around her WORSE not Better!

I dunno. She made Huntress pretty awesome.

Anyways right now I'm wondering if Aquaman's stuff will start a new flooding of the surface...

Yeah it's pretty damn annoying they're taking EVERYTHING from Wally just to prove they could.

Mostly I'm against what they were doing in terms of trying to remove Original Wally just so they can say F you.

Yeah, I figure if they keep f&*$ing with Wally so much, I'll go ahead and drop Titans. Then I'll drop Flash as a title, as my own version of "f~&# you" to DC.

Eh. I'm not sure dropping Flash would help since apparently they're screwing more with Barry by having Nu-52 Eobard come back for revenge.

Amusingly, I still hold Deathstroke is the best book DC has.

Not sure I completely agree, but I do agree it's better than some other books...

Dropped it like a hot potato after a few issues.

I always thought of Deathstroke as a sort of evil Captain America. Now that we actually have one of those, maybe they can do a cross over fight where they kill each other off. That would be nice.

Eh. I always thought Deathstroke was less an evil Captain America and more like merc Frank Castle/Punisher.

I vaguely recall that Deathstroke, Taskmaster, Deadpool and Prometheus were all knock-offs of each other in some tackily incestuous manner.

Set,

It wouldn't surprise me if they were. Not sure incestuously, but certainly relatable.

I think Taskmaster was first by a couple of decades.

I would have thought Deathstroke was first, but it turns out Taskmaster was first by seven months or so. (May 1980 for Taskmaster, Dec 1980 for Deathstroke.)

I thought Taskmaster had been around since the 1960's. My Comic-Fu has failed me.

All I know is Deathstroke's current run is decent, not awesome.

aren't they?

Not sure all but I do agree they are related in some ways, Freehold.

Deadpool wasn't originally intended to be a parody of Deathstroke when they conceptualized the character, but Liefeld turned in the initial sketches and the writer was like "Rob, this is Deathstroke. You made an off-color Deathstroke. <beat> Screw it. He is now a parody of Deathstroke and his name is Wade Wilson. Done."

I've always found that incredibly weak. He doesn't look like Deathstroke...His costume and colors are nothing like Deathstroke... he doesn't act like Deathstroke... his origin and powers are nothing like Deathstroke... Punisher is as much a deathstroke clone as Deadpool is.

Pretty much the only connection is his alter ego name and when it comes to accusations of copying... that's really weak. Darkseid/Thanos... Superman/Gladiator/Sentry... Those have some serious obvious connections... but Deadpool?? I like the explaination that Leifield said where he was copying Spider-Man because he really liked the Spider-Man mask and wanted to draw it... but wasn't on Spider-man books. So he made his own version.

THAT at least I can actually draw some similarities to... it feels a lot more believable then the constant Deathstroke/Deadpool cloud that always comes up when the two characters are mentioned.

Though that would be more "Deathstroke is a Punisher clone."

But mostly I agree. They're all off in the same basic direction: Gun using vigilantes/mercs. Anti-heroes or villains with a code.

They're clones about as much as any superstrong invulnerable character is a Superman clone or any non or low powered acrobatic brawler is a Batman clone.

LOL, yeah... I knew it when I typed it, but wondered if it would slip through ;)

There are a lot of characters that are pretty much rip-offs of something else... but really most have a pretty solid grasp on their own unique thing that sets them apart. I really never see the connective tissue between those two. Both taking a paycheck for killing enemies as mercanaries really isn't close enough to consider them rip offs or clones... May as well call Silver Sable and the A-team Deathstroke clones or vice-versa then.

considering just how many of those showed up in those very same books, it's pretty obvious.

...So Nth metal is our new McGuffin! Who had thunk it for a series titled "Metal" eh?

GAD Damn It Bats, There are things you shouldn't mess with, let alone Keep in a Secret Vault and not tell anyone about.

Dark/gritty isn't my thing as a general rule, and based on their blurbs, none of the six Dark titles seem to appeal to me. But I am curious as to the basic premise behind the series/alternate universe. Spoil it for me.

Spoiler:
Batman had Superman build him a secret vault under the Fortress of Solitude. Then he put something in there and made Sups promise not to look. Then he had the key to the vault shot into the sun.

What did he put in there?

One of the Dimensional Tuneing Forks from Crisis on Infinite Earths

Grey,

Don't forget about his hunt for Nth Metal, one Joker and apparently a bunch of artifacts inside a secret cave INSIDE the Batcave.

Plus apparently Plastic Man. And using Mister Miracle as a Key.

That and hints of JSA Hawkman.

so much cool

but the thing in the vault kind of takes the cake for "Batman did a dumb thing"

Grey,

Yeah that did floor me quite a bit...but I have a feeling it's all connected...to NTH METAL!

Which universe though? Is it going to be another game tie-in like injustice?

Green Lantern just dropped a nice bomb as well.

7 original Green Rings, created from the Travel Lantern.
7 Rings with an imprinted desire to return to Earth.

How long have people been asking why there are so many Human GLs these days.

Around 6 at the moment isn't there

Hal
John
Guy
Kyle
Simon
Jessica

oh wait
there is one other Magic Ring wasn't there

Alan

Charles Scholz wrote:

I have a feeling it's more like Anti-matter universe type of thing. But I could be wrong. And no I don't think it's like injustice. More like Kingdom Come.

Grey,

Yeah well they are setting things up for Jessica to lose hers to Volthoom. But whether or not the seven ring is with Alan Scott is a mystery.

They are, however, showcasing the original 7 ring wielders that imprisoned Volthoom.

That's kinda cool.

I always liked Power Ring/Volthoom.

Freehold,

Well you'll love the fact Volthoom is not just the First Lantern but he also had himself kind of mentally cloned into a ring. Thanks to Mordru.
So we have TWO of them now. :P

Right now though, the Dark Days: Metal has some interesting stuff ahead of us.

Found this. It's apparently not just an Earth-3 type dark universe or even an antimatter universe like the one that includes Qward, it's an entire dark multiverse underlying the "familiar" multiverse in the same way dark matter and dark energy make up most of our own space.

My head kind of exploded at the thought of Dark Plastic Man. Does... not... compute... Error! Errrror!

Still, it means something involving Nth Metal. I think. Good find though Damon.

I may have to pick up the main storyline. Still can't generate any interest for the five spinoff titles based on the scant descriptions I've read.

One of the books I enjoyed this week was Martian Manhunter vs. Marvin the Martian. Very interesting actually. M'arvin's personality is very much in line with his loonytoons self but with more of a serious back story. Giving us a story of predjudice vs. understanding as J'onn tries to save earth from him.

Then followed up with a more Loony Toons style story Where Marvin is trying to trap J'onn using cookies so he can steal his powers.

Damon,

I might pick up/read some of the one shots, but honestly the main series is where my focus will be.

Huh. Just found out that 'Death of Oracle' is now back in continuity. Looks like Babs-as-Oracle is a bit longer this time

how are they going to explain that away?

Did you get into batgirl of burnside?

Matt,

Yes they did make it that way because otherwise Oracle wouldn't be around for Batgirl.

Freehold,

My understanding is it just happened. How? Blame Superman, I guess.

Also I guess Manchester Black will be mooing more. Maybe.

Speaking of Superman, what race are the people of Hamilton? At first I thought Coluan, because Kathy and grandpa had green skin, but in issue 25 other townspeople had different color skin.

Charles,

No idea. But I'm pretty sure whatever race they are, they're not from the current Multiverse. Maybe.

But like I said, poor Manchester Black...

The Loony Toons/DC crossovers have been sheer genius. Wile E/Roadrunner/Lobo is a riot.

*has honestly been avoiding them because he doesn't feel like laughing*

Isn't that when you need a laugh most?

Ask the Joker. He's forgotten how to laugh too in Batman #25...

But right now I'll enjoy the fact Green Lanterns is building up the cosmic side more than they usually do.
