A WEIRD QUESTION . . .
Son, this doesn't even scratch "almost peculiar" around here. :D
/patronizing tone
I do recall there being a metagame artifact in Artifacts & Legends that basically allowed a PC to be reduced to small statue for easy carrying when the PC couldn't make game night. At next session, you could basically summon back PC and poof - back in the party.
There is a bit of mix-up - you're blending the figuring of the concealed companion with scar of destiny. The figurine only works for familiars et. al., whereas the scar is "random" (i.e. "when a player shows up for the game").
OP, do you mind letting us know the situation? More creative solutions might be derived if we knew.
That said, sequestered seems like something you might be looking for? Or temporal stasis? Or both? Heck, both and into a bag' means that you get the best of all worlds (so long as you don't place said bag' into a portable hole)*.
If you're a much lower level, sepia snake sigil might be what you're looking for. Again, put it in a bag'* and you're good to go. Just be aware, it's not as well protected that way.
For protecting the comotose body, just use the normal spells to protect a creature or object other than yourself (basically the abjuration spells, plus a few conjuration and transumtation).
* You may also put the character into a portable hole. Either way, really, just so long as you don't put a 'hole in a bag' or vice-versa.

appreciate the clarification on said items
I knew immediately only because I'm kind of obsessed with those items. I heart them... for really no discernible reason, that I can tell.
I've also mixed up my fair share of items in the past too (and spells, sigh), so no worries on that score. I'm glad to help! :D
EDIT:
Necklace of adaptation and bag of holding.
Well, you know, if you want to do things the obvious way...
;D Good catch!
EDIT: Also, an iridescent spindle is another solid option.

Shadow Projection spell, last 1 hour/level and I can already hear DM's crying about it
Hahahah~! Okay, now I see. Yeah, sure. The things I mentioned would work well for that.
Of note, there is no mention of planar anything within the spell description, so putting him in a hidden bag' or 'hole is about the best defense you can get.
It gets much better, later, when you can use veil on yourself, too. Now you feel just as real a normal!
Just make sure to guard your hidey-hole well, and probably have a contingency with breath of life on your actual person.

Carry Companion is a great spell that lets you shrink a companion and put it in your pocket.
Animal Soul used to let you be targeted by spells that targeted animals if you wanted to. Now, it just makes you immune to spells that don't affect both animals and your subtype.

Thanks!
... quick question, though... uh... why would the "new" Animal Soul ever, ever be useful to anyone ever?
| Tacticslion |
Immunity to any spell that only targets humanoids. So, it is kinda sort of mildly useful every third Tuesday in July.
Heh.
But, no, I mean... okay, when does anyone ever need it?
The only way I know to actually change Type, per RAW, is the (nature? life?) oracle revelation-thingy at twentieth level that lets you become a plant or animal. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure polymorphing - even permanent stuff - doesn't mechanically change your type. And by the time you've hit 20th level, you're not gaining any more feats...
EDIT: To be clear, I'm asking: when, in the game, other than that revelation, do you ever change your type? And do any of them happen when you still have the ability to gain feats?
| Tacticslion |
It doesn't need to change your type. It just makes you immune to any spell that couldn't affect both your current type and the animal type. Hold person only affects humanoids, so Animal soul makes you immune to hold person.
Ah, gotcha. I see it now. I was being tripped up by the words,
your original creature type
... that it has. Thanks!

Is there a good way to carry around a comatose body while adventuring? Magic item or spell that can protect or otherwise hide said such body?
thanks
If the body is dead and in need of Raising, the easiest way to transport it is Decompose Corpse, which turns the Corpse into a skeleton, and when you get it to the high level Cleric, cast Restore Corpse, so the body can be Raised. By RAW this procedure does stack with Gentle Repose, but I can easily see any GM disallowing that.
There used to be a spell called Feign Death which allowed someone to go into suspended animation, appearing quite dead, and wake up hours later. If that's still a spell, they changed the name, and I don't know what they changed it to.
The cheapest way to transport heavy loads I know of is with a Stretcher. It's in Ultimate Equipment, and you can drag a stretcher behind you up to the limits of what you can drag, dropping her as a Free Action when you have to go into Combat. Keeping the body clean and free of vermin only requires regular applications of a Prestidigitation Cantrip. A Stealth Check can disguise the body as something else, just baggage, maybe. Using Stealth on other people imposes a penalty, but since a comotose person can be counted on to remain perfectly still, there's probably a bonus. A Negate Aroma Spell would eliminate any Animals' interest in exploring your stretcher. FYI, a Stretcher being used by a single person to haul cargo is called a Travois, but Travois is not a game term: Stretcher is. The weight of your load on the stretcher might be mitigated with spells like Ant Haul or Lighten Object.

Life Bubble, if you don't mind casting a 5th level Cleric spell every day. Or a 4th level Druid spell. If you get a CL booster and an Extend metamagic rod, you can eventually only need to cast it once every two days. Once they're life bubbled up, just toss them in your Bag of Holding.

An Overkill Solution:
Create demiplane, lesser. Make it a nice warm place, with lots of machines that go PING! "The demiplane is another plane of existence, and therefore is outside the range of any spell or ability that cannot affect or reach other planes." Nice and safe for a coma-friend.
A REALLY Overkill Solution:
Gate. Someplace really nice, where the locals are morally obligated to care for the comatose. One of the celestial-inhabited neighborhoods should do. Pop the coma-friend in there until you need them, then gate them back out.
A Slightly Less Overkill Solution With Significantly More Needless Complexity:
Flesh to stone, followed by shrink item, selecting to "change its now shrunken composition to a clothlike one." Now your coma-friend is safe from anything except occasional absent-minded use as a pocket handkerchief.

Wait, if you apply permanency to shrink item, but then un-stone the person, are they still reshrinkable?

Of course, if you don't mind casting a 5th level Cleric Spell every day, why not then just kill Sleeping Beauty and then cast Raise Dead just the 1 time? Problem solved. Or surely if the party is high enough level to do lots of the high-level things that are being discussed, they could also just revive the patient?

That, unfortunately, doesn't work. He's talking about transporting his comatose body while he goes out adventuring as a shadow, via the shadow projection spell.
That spell doesn't require them to be on the same plane, but does have some drawbacks if you are reduced to 0 hit points in that form and your body is alone.
Of course, if he's an orc with access to breath of life, that should work well.

Well, that makes a lot more sense. I must have missed that part.
