Armour Silence Avenger? not Stalker?

Ultimate Intrigue Playtest General Discussion

Kinda like the title says, I was just wondering why the armour silence ability

"Armor Silence (Ex): The avenger vigilante doesn’t apply the armor check penalty for light and medium armor on Stealth skill checks. The penalty applies to other skill checks as normal."

is an Avenger talent? it just seems much more stalkerish? I was just wondering if anyone else thought this strange? Still I think its an awesome talent though. would be awesome when combined with an Agile Breastplate.

The intent seems to be to allow the more martial geared avenger to still perform vigilante activities at low levels. It wouldn't really fit on the stalker since it's much easier to get low to no ACP on light armor at low levels.

The Avenger and Stalker should be fused. Separate they make the avengers base class features mostly useless while the Stalker is just a worse Rogue. Together they make something unique.

I just assumed that they assumed everyone going Stalker would be a light armor/dex based build. It's actually the Heaving training ability, that allows you to use armor silence with heavy armor that's the real ability you should be working towards.

But yes, it is a little odd, and out of place. They could probably have had a section of talents that every specialty could pull from for abilities like this, or Another Day, or several others for that matter.

Together they are the g!!~$%n batman

Let's face it, many of the talents should be put into a "general" category accessable by all specializations, or else should be repeated among multiple specializations.

I have a feeling they were two specializations in the beginning:

Avenger and Warlock
The Avenger could choose from Stalker and Avenger talents. He started with assault training and hidden strike. Full BAB and weird sneak attack. You could be a straight up fighter or sneak thief but it was up to you. While flanking, he got reduced hidden strike, but he could attempt to strike unseen for more. Armor silence better silences his strikes.

Warlock could choose from arcane or divine training at 1st. And choose both talents of Warlock or Zealot.

It feels like it, but this is just my thoughts.

I wholeheartedly agree with the "General" category. Does anyone else feel like the specializations might as well just be archetypes?

The two casting specializations might work better as archetypes: take away the 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, and 20th level talents, and the base ability, in exchange for a proper 6th-level casting progression plus access to the relevant talents.

It's not for stalker the same way Armor Training is not for rogue
