Each round at the start of the shaman’s turn, if the bonded creature’s hit points are reduced to –5 or fewer, it heals 5 hit points and the shaman takes 5 points of damage.
Wording is clear enough. Does nothing until the target is at negative 5 or lower health then heals them for exactly 5 points.
Usefulness is another story.
Was this just poor editing or was the Hex really intended to be this weak? If the former then when will there be a faq to correct it? If the latter then why? Could there not have been a better middle ground between the Oracle version and the Shaman version?

That sounds hilariously not-useful. Seems like it's correct from what I can see though (shaman stuff is different for a number of things..)
Wouldn't sound like an unreasonable house rule to say it engages when the target reaches either Half, Quarter, One Tenth, or 1 HP depending on how much more powerful you'd like it to be.
Maybe not bother with taking it though. Even the oracle's version is... marginal at best until you combine it with Energy Body to give yourself 1d6+Oracle Level fast healing as long as you spend the move action to heal yourself.
At that point it's actually pretty useful.
FAQ'd none-the-less.

Item 151 on today's glitch list.
Hopefully it won't be too much longer before the ACG errata is finished.

I don't think it is all that clear.
How often does it happen that a creature's hit points are reduced at the start of the shaman's turn?| Bronnwynn |

Particularly if the creature is one that the Shaman wishes to keep alive - that is, one that a shaman would use an ability named Life Link on that heals someone.

Nothing I care to search for, just something I recall.
One developer could have said one thing, and another something different, as well. It's probably the better practice to keep everything ACG-related to one location, but herding forum goers is like herding cats, so it probably won't matter in the grand scheme of things.
Plus, something inevitably will fall through the cracks anyways.
