I'd like to see an "Off-Topic" thread for PbP campaigns

Basically I think that PbP can work well if the players socialize a bit; talk about their lives and stuff other than gaming. But I think this would work better if it were to be placed in a separate thread, so that the discussion thread is kept for game-related things.

Would this be possible? And do other people think this is a good idea?

That's what the Discussion thread is for. You just have to use it that way.

I get what Peet is saying, I've had trouble keeping players reminded that the OOC thread can be used for, oh I don't know, things you want to talk about out of character, and that makes it a good point

On the other hand, for the most part my experiences here have been with mostly players who don't really want to talk to each other at all and only want to talk to and get responses from the DM

I think DMs could encourage that to happen. Maybe posting a question of the week for the players to answer.....

I enjoy off-topic discussion. But I think the Discussion thread is more than adequate to the task, for interested players and GMs. I'd prefer not to see another tab appear, actually, unless it offers something more compelling and unique than (what amounts to) a second discussion thread.

One option that might be unique would be the option of making a discussion thread private as in only open/readable to person who are in the game.

Or private messages to and from the group as a whole....

Not sure if another thread is needed...
