OK, THAT one I didn't see...
Got my share, now I'm off to bed before I loose it to my exhaustion and post a commentary on this Spamwar that would get me banned.

By the way, there's an assumption that because they're using Korean characters (they actually sprinkle some Japanese characters) that the domain user is Korean.
That's not necessarily true. Here's the WHOIS on the spammer domain, it looks like it's hidden behind a domain privacy service.

I have a suggestion. It it's possible, add a specific category for spam when flagging (maybe put it at the top, so that it's immediately accessible). Also, it would be nice, if the flags for spam could be visible to all, so as to avoid redundant flagging.

I'd be inclined to suggest crowdsourcing. Identify a core group of volunteer spamcops, and when four or more of them jump on a post, it's automatically removed.
This also addresses the "who watches the watchman" issue; if someone decides to go on a vendetta against a real poster and start flagging everything they write, that won't actually have an effect unless there are three other co-vendettae.
Would you be able to share any of the other reasons?
Really I'm just curious, but it does seem like this would be a good place to harness community goodwill - I'm thinking those of us on the other side of the world would be especially useful in cleaning things up during (your) night time or on weekends. I know less than nothing about computers but could imagine there might be security problems with giving non-employees superpowers, but even if it wasnt the use of the banhammer, it might be useful for you if some designated community members were able to access a "global hide" button which hid the thread from everyone else, including google. A kind of halfway house, to be reviewed and probably purged when you guys got to work.

Uhmmm, SOMETHING needs to be done. Spam posts account for more of the current posts on the front page of the site than anything else...and it's been this way for most of the day here in Oz...
I think that message is getting through. ^_^
This morning's wave is crushed. I have some thoughts about a more aggressive solution to this problem, and will bring it to one of our internal moots to see if it can be done sooner than later. I really don't like that our community is having to deal with this, but appreciate your patience and help in isolating these accounts.

Sorry Kalindlara, I didn't see that post.

Wow. There's close to 400 spammer threads right now in General Discussion (as well as 2 in Ultimate Intrigue Playtest). That's the worst I've ever seen.
Yeah. I did about fifty threads/posts this morning before the phone rang and I had to start doing real work.
I fear for the weekend. You know that as soon as the Paizo staffers go home on Friday, there will be a tsunami.

Yeah the weekend will be brutal, with carnage everywhere. I also fear for Gen Con, when everyone is out of the office.
