Thanks again to Tim, Paris, and all the other people who work on this great fan pub!

Can't wait to see what this issue will have.

It won't have my article on monster mating calls and rituals.

Cuz I never wrote it

Maybe we could do something more productive, like speculate on upcoming Wayfinder issue themes? Or spitball article ideas?

Ditto for my article. RL school/work kicked my arse.

Sorry to hear about your dog, Paris.

I lost my dog back in March. He was twelve. His back legs stopped working and I was left with the same terrible option. I miss him. He was a white German Shepherd dog. If you've even watched that old flick "Beastmaster" or the couple snippets from "The Lost Boys" he looked exactly like the dogs in those movies.

Oh! Clearly I am a little behind on the news. This was a super-nice surprise over the weekend. Thanks to the reviewers and editors for all their hard work!

Update!

Hey, Folks! I finishedthe formatting work last night. I'm traveling this evening, but will be handling editors' assignments tomorrow and Saturday. After that, we'll be able to focus on getting notification and guideline acceptance confirmation emails out to the writers. We're still trucking along. Thanks for your continued patience and support.

Have any of the upcoming themes been announced yet?

I skipped over the post about the articles picked, so that was a pleasant surprise.

For those that didn't get picked, and may be feeling rather down; are they able to resubmit their fiction to Pathfinder Chronicler?

Absolutely!

Our submission guidelines are set up so that authors and artists retain the rights to their work.

Submissions that are not selected for use in Wayfinder are completely, 100% under the control of the submitters. We retain no rights to them, whatsoever.

Submitters whose works are selected are free to continue using their work in any way they wish, as long as Wayfinder and Paizo Fans United retain the ability to reprint those works. If we decide to use something you've created for us, we will let you know.

In the meantime, you can post work on your web page, share it with friends, or whatever. If you happen to submit it to another publication, however, you have to make sure that other publication is okay with us using the work. You can't submit it to someone who would then try to tell us we can't use the material, anymore.

I will add though, that if your submission WAS selected for this issue, please don't share it right now. I'd like your work to debut in Wayfinder, not here on the boards, or on your blog post. Give Wayfinder that honor, OK?

Same goes for art, please don't jump the gun and debut your Wayfinder art in your gallery before we even get it out there.

Once we release the issue online, contributors are free to post their art and written materials and share at will. We would totally prefer that you also point them towards the link to download a Wayfinder to see it there too, but no one's forcing you to.....

Thanks, Tim. That last paragraph of mine was intended to apply mainly to work that hadn't been selected for inclusion in Wayfinder. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

Next theme selected.....hope to post this weekend.....this one will have a LOT of diversity, so it could almost (ALMOST) be like another more open-themed issue again.

Awesome! Looking forward to it!

I've gotten way busier since this one... hopefully I can find the time. How long do submission periods tend to be again?

Submissions for this will be due in December...so about 3.5 to 4 months.

It'll be a pretty busy holiday season for Isabelle, then.

Also, thank you again for the opportunity. I'm only busy because of you. ^_^

Hey, folks. Paris, here. I thought I should post a little update on the status of Wayfinder #14. I think all of our awesome editors have returned their articles from their Round 1 assignments. I had planned on getting to those and assigning Round 2 edits this weekend. I was busy running a Pathfinder game for my daughter's Girl Scout troop as part of a "Daddy-Daughter RPG Day" event, yesterday, as planned, but this morning, I managed to pull a stupid, totally unplanned move and dealt a 2nd degree burn to the index and middle fingers of my left hand (oven mitts only work when you wear them, by the way). Fortunately, I'm a righty, but typing with just my right hand is really tough and the pain was pretty distracting, so I didn't make much progress on edited articles. It took 12 hours, but the pain in my hand is pretty much gone, now, so I'll be getting back to the articles tomorrow after work. Despite the delay caused by my dumb move, we're doing okay on the timeline for this one.

Tim will have news on other stuff before too long. If you didn't see his post from Friday on our Facebook page, you should check it out.

Say What You Will, I Live Free.....

If you haven't heard by now, the theme for Wayfinder #15 will be the River Kingdoms.

I will be posting the Call for Submissions sometime this week on the Paizo Messageboard, under the Community Use Projects forum here.

For now, start thinking about what you'd like to write, and plan on having until December 2015 to do it!

Courts are for Kings!

I actually have an idea for this one.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Ooookay.
I'll make:
Options for Caydenite characters
Options for Milanite characters
and a Weal or Woe which develops one controversial character just hinted at in Guide to the River Kingdoms, in a little, little realm...

I haven't done an article since #11, so I think I want to get in on this. Luckily I ran a lot of Kingmaker, so I have some good old notes to use for inspiration.

Silver Crusade Contributor

I might try my hand at a Weal and Woe.

I have an archetype from back in the 2013 Superstar contest that I've never done anything with. Maybe I'll dust that off and toss in a couple others that'll fit with it.

I obviously need to learn something about the River Kingdoms.

All I know is I want to do something a little crunchier this time.

What monsters could infest the River Kingdoms? Fey are obvious pick, but I wrote a number of them... A new kind of troll maybe? Hag? Do we have a river hag? Or more precisely, is the river a place for a new hag different than sea or green one?

What's that, you say? Get to working on more Golarion Gazetteers? If you insist, boss.

If you wonderful folks are able (by skill, wit, and a little bit of luck) to stay on target for the development of this issue, is it likely it would come out before the(we) Americans celebrate Thanksgiving?

We definitely aim to have this issue completed before the holiday season. We're making good progress, too. I will be finished with my final edits on the articles today or tomorrow, then Tim can review them before we pass them off to our layout gurus.

Art is coming in, as well, so hopefully things will come together for an on-time publication.

Don't forget to post a comment or...even better...a review!

Everyone involved wants to hear the readers' thoughts on what they liked/disliked about the issue. It means a LOT to us all!

Bestiary writers reveal yourselves! Who wrote what?

Mine was Disemboweled prophet...

Dark Archive

There's always great art, but some really jumped out at me. My favorites include;

Erin Frye's haunting picture on p. 7.

Paul Chapman's lusciously colorful serpentfolk on p. 27.

Frank Hessefort's channeling the same creepy awesomeness on p. 35 as Erin Frye did earlier.

Several of the Bestiary entries, whose artists I'm not clear on, such as the Disembowled Prophet (p. 68), the Grim Harvester (p. 70) and the Wechselkind (p 74).

I love lots of other pictures, including the one accompanying my Cyclopes article on p. 61 (thanks Andrew DeFelice!, it's always great to see such great visuals of stuff that's only ever been in my head!), but those ones really pop for me.

Disembowled Prophet (p. 68), Chris Kimball
Grim Harvester (p. 70), Nick Russell
Wechselkind (p 74), Erin Frye again

I take great pride in my artists, and this issue is no exception. Doing the art direction for each issue has become my favorite part of the process, actually. And when I get such incredible art, can you blame me?

Tim
