While I had hoped that it would change (the all-black image when you try to copy maps, etc), it has not.
I have to ask... is this intentional? It has really made it difficult to extract the maps for the scenarios, if I am to print them out. I'd prefer not to have to purchase software just to extract images and to print maps (note, I use a Mac, but if there was a good linux based extractor, I could be potentially use it... plus I could create a windows VM, but...)
Is this something that will be changing in the future?

Yes; use the image extraction feature of Nitro Reader (which is free).
Note they will be extracted with the alpha channel intact (which is what causes the black in some image programs) -- you can simply save them to a format that doesn't support transparency (.jpg, .bmp, etc.) to convert the alpha to white (which is likely what you want).

Thanks, Aaron, I'll give that a shot. I did use Nitro Reader to extract ALL the images from the pdf into a folder. This works also, but you get all the different layers too. You end up with a ton of pics, but it's easier to pick out what you need vs copying one at a time and saving them.

I don't have a link handy, but they have said it isn't entirely clear what changed on their end, and it wasn't a deliberate change.
