I have experienced a minor issue with the formatting of my campaign and new post lists. Instead of the expected 4x4 layout with highlights, I sometimes see rows with a maximum of seven listings and no highlights. This persists even after I refresh the page or navigate away and return, but it is resolved after I restart my browser. This issue occurs about once every week or two while using Firefox and has persisted through recent updates. It is not a major issue but can be slightly inconvenient.

I've used the Chrome extension happily for some time now. I particularly like the feature of being able to replace an avatar image. Lately, however, some images "don't stick." They replace the image but when the page loads again, it is back to the default image. Other aspects still work fine. And some avatars still load the replacement image.
I thought I might re-install and now I see a warning that the extension is in danger of extinction for not meeting some code requirements.
A re-install did not fix the problem. Is this a cache problem?
Will there be an update to bring the extension code up to requirements? I'd hate to see it go entirely.

I inadvertently uninstalled the extension on my Chrome browser after discovering that it was no longer supported. I find the extension very useful as it allows me to easily check for new posts in a given campaign. I hope the developer fixes the extension so that it continues to be supported, and allowing me to reinstall it in my browser.

Ugh, okay, I also miss the function that keeps the appropriate alias I'm posting as for the various play-by-post campaigns.
It still works in Firefox, at least so far.
It's like you're living in paradise, but you can see the mushroom cloud off in the distance. It's just like that.

Hmmm, you made me curious. The Chrome extension was last updated in '22, but the Firefox extension was last updated in April of last year.
If that's a nudge to check out Firefox, and you haven't tried it in the last few years, I encourage it (for the stronger privacy protections as well as for getting to keep using this awesome extension).

hmm, could be due to the difference on how the browser engines handle plug-ins.
As Chrome, and other Chrome based browsers have been forced onto Manifest v3, removing Manifest v2 which was made to disable Ad-blockers from working along with other valuable plugins for the past few years, around 2022 was when it was pushed in.
Firefox on the other hand, are allowing the running of Manifest v2 which means Ad-blockers work, along with other Plugins that Manifest v3 breaks. But Firefox also has Manifest v3 support for extensions in their browser.
This means if you wanna use the Paizo Forum plug-in, your gonna have to take the dive and use Firefox, or a Firefox derivative browser.

That is how they getcha and keep you, they give a new nugget to make sure you don't switch and become an addict, kinda like Microsoft does for companies and governments.
But I'm slowly but surely breaking free from the big fish that tend to be anti-consumer.
If you need cloud storage and I had no issues with, Dropbox is a good one, there is a FREE version (I know cause I use it) with about 2GB of storage space.
You can find an alternative to nearly ANY software on this site.
Operating System wise, all my Laptops run Linux, my desktops are mostly dual-boot systems since I can't run some apps I like in Linux.

That's a very helpful site, so thanks for sharing it!
I recently had to upgrade my very old tablet that I use to do editing for a friend's writing. I used MS Word for Android, and that worked very well for what I needed. Now that I'm on a new tablet, the Word app that I had to download doesn't have many of the old features I used unless I pay for a subscription. So, I've been looking for an alternative (Google Docs isn't cutting it), so maybe looking through that site will be helpful.

As for a replacement for MS office, I recommend Libre Office, Open Office, or even Only Office software suites.
The tablet is likely just fine, you might just need a new OS on it.
There are a fair number of Operating Systems for tablets, other then iOS, and Android. You just need to use Distrowatch and search for a new OS based on the Tablet's ARM CPU, as there are a few different variants of an ARM CPU.
Most Linux distros come with a software center of some sort where you can download compatible software for the system. I believe LibreOffice being one of them.

Let me thank you, because as of yesterday I started moving to a new environment, out of Google. I've switched to Firefox and proton for most of my needs, so far I'm doing good.
I'm not ditching Windows for now though, since I still need it for most of my software and will probably get a new machine toward the end of the year. Maybe at that point I'll switch to Linux, who knows.
One thing though: what do you use instead of Google Slides? I haven't found a good alternative yet (to give my players access to the tactical map and other stuff).

Here's the best part, if you want to dip your toes into the Linux pond.
You can TRY Linux on your system WITHOUT INSTALLING it onto the system. (If you have an older system you can use it for trying out Linux.)
You just need to boot a Linux Distro from a USB stick and can try it out, though some features won't work as it requires installation. But enough to get a good feel for that Distro (some Distros have multiple desktop environments, and each one has a different aspects and feel.)
You can also setup Dual-boot using GRUB (installed by Linux) on the system to switch between Windows and Linux.
If you don't have Bitlocker turned on in Windows Linux can access all the Hard drive and even write to them.
Which means if Windows Crashes, you can still recover files on your C:\ Drive before wiping and rebuilding the whole System.
I currently run Zorin OS as my Linux OS of choice, since it is VERY newcomer friendly.
Though I am looking at bazzite for some potentially better Windows Program compatibility, but you need to know your hardware to select the right one.
I've also heard a rumour that Windows 12 will be subscription based, a minimum of $80~100 a year for one PC for the most Basic version, $200 a year for the Pro version.

Sadly, I don't have a good answer on that front.
Roll20 could work, but that was for a game I was in for a short time since it died quick.
I know there are options, but I haven't tried that many.
If it was a Real-time game I know a few options, but for a PBP where it is at one's own pace, I unfortunately can't answer that.

gyrfalcon |

Re Slides, the main open source option I'm aware of is Impress. And I find roll20 great for PBP maps.
For myself, I still use Google docs (including Slides) a good bit for both work and play...but I do them mostly now from Firefox. The main reason I'll go back to Chrome is for offline docs, typically if I want to work on something while flying. Otherwise I'm very happy with Firefox.

Owlbear Rodeo is probably mostly used for live games, but we used it for a Discord-based PBP just fine. But I’ve used Roll20 and Google Slides the same, so it’s really up to you.

Firefox and those based on it are fine for the extension.
Chrome is literally the first word in my post.
