Yup, same here, Goblinworks seems intermittent at best for me.

You're right ,the 4th time I got in, Goblinworks.com is connecting now but it is really slow.

Yeah, back in now. Goblinworks still very intermittent.

Got my alpha code late last night. Now I can't dl the installer. =(

Yeah the website wouldn't load for me either just now.

Still having website, and "Connecting to Server" issues.

Multiple attempts usually to get back in after a crash.

Since it and GW.com are at the new host and both are slow, I have a feeling something needs to be optimized or evaluated.

Wonder if a firewall setting on their end is showing issues .. or perhaps just bandwidth limited at the provider?

I can, but it's been very slow all morning, over a minute to update when I press F5.

EDIT: from the comments below, "over a minute" was short-changing the situation; it's more like a four-minute average once I put a timer on it.

It's taking me over 5 minutes to load a page on goblinworks.com.

It would be nice to see a comment here from someone at Goblinworks, like maybe the community manager, that they are aware of the issue and working to resolve it.

Same issue I have tried 10 times with no luck. I can get the GW sight to load very slowly, about 5 mins. Hope someone at GW is watching the boards.

Yes that is what is affecting the alpha, but the site should not be down too.

I'm in. Working fine so far. Just took about 20-30 min for initial "connect" and 5 min for after character selection

Unable to get to Goblinworks.com and unable to get past the Alpha 8 login screen - error message "Could not connect to alpha.goblinworks.com"

I was in the game for several hours this morning, but have been having this problem for about the last 4 hours, starting around 4PM ET.

My internet is fine...no problems with any other website. I have restarted my machine and renewed my IP address several times.

I have cleared my browser cache and deleted temp internet files, cookies and history.

I am running the patcher as administrator.

Also, please note in the patcher dialog, while the file comparison is running, I get a "page cannot be displayed" browser error in the dialog as well as a new browser window popping up with the same message.

Alpha forum is being very difficult this morning.

I am unable to play from home (fibre 50GB broadband) since Alpha 8 anyway. I have a weird issue where after a minute or two of normal play the game seems to "time out" and you cannot click on anything in game though you can still walk around, its like somehow the game loses the connection. Never had this issue with Alpha 7.

If I take the same laptop to a friends house it works fine so its nothing to do with my laptop or install.

Looks like we have had some ddos activity this Sunday. We are still investigatng.

I have tried to connect 3 times today and have not be able to, just says connecting to server.

I immediatelt get the "Could not connect to: alpha goblinworks.com"; I haven't been able to log on for hours after getting booted off in Thorn Keep.

Strange, I guess I'm one of the few that had no problems connecting. Connected quickly each time.

Everything works fine this morning, like it did when the alpha first started. Got right in the game and goblinworks.com is back to normal.

Strange...and over my head from a technical standpoint. I have no idea how goblinworks website and Alpha could be fine for some and dead in the water for others...but I'm still dead in the water. Can't get to goblinworks.com (error message "Page can't be displayed") and can't get into Alpha (error "Could not connect to goblinworks.alpha.com").

Normally I'd think the problem must be at my end, but I have no issues getting to any other website.

Alpha 8 seems super sensitive to lag and intemittent connectivity.

My uninformed guess is even the slightest lag spike now disconnects you from the server. This did not seem to happen before Alpha 8.

It appears my DSL modem/wireless router had a bug in its craw from yesterday. I restarted it and everything is working fine now. I got into goblinworks.com no problem and was able to get into Alpha.

When I restarted, I shut down all machines connected to my router, shut down the router, started it back up and waited until it had an internet signal and then restarted my machines. Maybe that sequence had something to do with my success.

I'm the friend Bitter Thorn was referring to.

We went over to his house and had my wife take a look into it. She's a lot more savvy about this than either of us.

She dug and dug into everything and finally came up with the conclusion that it had to be on goblinwork's end...both server and website. Even went so far as to restart their modem (they don't have a router).

Don't ask me what it all means, it's WAY beyond me. But, I live literally a mile from them and we've both got the same ISP. I haven't had a problem at all getting in.

Ryan mentioned that there appears to have been some sort of DDOS (distributed denial of service) attack Sunday. That means that someone or someones were using many different computers, such as a bot net, to create artificial traffic on the scale of an assault, keeping the network overloaded and largely preventing most of our access.

But if they've already identified and resolved that, you'd think they'd be able to log on....and they still can't.

I still have no problem at all.

If I were a smart man, and I'm not, I'd almost think it'd have to do with IP address. Theirs is different than mine...I don't know how much different...but they're in a different neighborhood and they're both hard-wired into their modem.

I dunno.

Hmm. If there was a DDOS attack there might have been other offensive things happening as well. Is their antivirus up-to-date do you know?
