I am a beginning dungeonmaster/gamemaster. I decided that Dragon's Demand would be a good place for me to start.and am currently running it. Reading through the module the only thing that seemed confusing and boring to me was the auction. It has a lot of steps and I just don't think my PCs will find it interesting. So does anyone have any alternatives to the auction? Preferably it would still introduce Clausyre to the players.

I rolled a d4 for each item. I had the opponent bid that many times against the party. If the party bid beyond what the opponent was willing to bid, they won it, if not they lost. You can adjust the die roll up or down to either give loot to the party if they need it, or remove access to items by pushing the cost out of their budget.
I didn't involve the intimidate checks and all that other nonsense, I wanted an auction, not a 2 hour mini-game.
Hope that helps.
