let's check the Advanced Class Guide : Shaman (p35)

spirit of LIFE, granted power (@ lvl 1) :
Channel (Su): can channel positive energy... her shaman level as her effective cleric level ... number of times per day equal to 1 + her Charisma modifier.

so far OK.

now let check the "Witch Doctor" archetype for the shaman (p.113)
Channel Energy (Su): At 4th level, ... as the cleric class feature. ... her shaman level – 3 as her effective cleric level, ... times per day equal to 3 + her Charisma modifier. This ability replaces ...

so @ level 4 I can channel 1+Cha for 2D6 and 3+Cha for 1D6 ?

Wow, Holy Vindicators are going to love this.

Grand Lodge

Good question.

Sovereign Court

Is it really intended that these abilities award two separate channel pools? Both of them say "link a cleric" or "as a cleric" so it seems to me that they would be treated as the same ability. But then the question is how do you calculate the damage dice and the number of channels you get?

Very confusing. Maybe we can get developer opinion if we FAQ this?

Dark Archive

Yes, as it stands with the FAQ that is how it should be interpreted: two separate channel pools. If you added a level of cleric you'd have three pools, and so on.

I've been playing it as two separate channel pools with different dice.
The FAQ seems pretty clear that they're tracked separately.

The Exchange

Im building this built as a blind shaman half elf boy and I was curious how this would work exactly

The same works if you play a Spirit Guide Oracle of Life with the Life Wandering Spirit.

Scarab Sages

In my Homegroup, I am planning to be:

Spirit Guide Oracle (Life) X
Spirit Whisperer Wizard 1
Varisian Cleric 1
Shaman 1
Spirit Summoner 1
w/ Phylactery of Positive Channeling

That is:
1+CHA - nd6 Channel
1+CHA - nd6 Channel
1+CHA - 3d6 Channel
3+CHA - 3d6 Channel
1+CHA - 3d6 Channel
1+CHA - 3d6 Channel

Toss that with Channel Ray and Channeled Revival, and you have a bucketload of Breath of Life shots.

My question here is how does the phylactery of positive channeling affect your channel dice when you have multiple channel sources? Do I have to pick one source to get the +2d6 or do all my sources get the boost?

all

Scarab Sages

Add in Bless Equipment and you can give out Bane Weapon Enchantments for 3 rounds with you lowest channel.

If I take the extra channel feat do all my pools get 2 more uses per day or do I pick one?

pick one. I read it somewhere officially at some point, it was wherever they clarified that it would be a different pool per class

Actually I was technically wrong, I found the FAQ, they are floating so you can uses the two however you want every day.

FAQ/Errata

If I take Extra Channel and I have more than one class with the ability to channel energy, do I have to assign the extra uses to a particular class when I choose the feat?
No. In effect, the feat gives you two “floating” uses of channel energy per day, and you can use them with any appropriate class you have which grants the channel energy ability. For example, if you’re a cleric/necromancer, each day you could use 1 channel as a cleric and 1 as a necromancer, 2 as a cleric and 0 as a necromancer, or 0 as a cleric and 2 as a necromancer. Note that this does not give you an extra two uses of channel energy for *each* class that grants it—the feat gives you exactly two extra uses per day.

Given that Channeled Revival has a prereq of Channel energy 6d6, shouldn't it cost channels that are at least 6d6 to use?

Thank you.
