I was a bit bummed at the grocery store this morning. They had no turkey pieces parts in the meat section. I was hoping to smoke some turkey this weekend.
Hell, I’d have even settled for one of their Split Turkey Breasts. Apparently, however, they’re having warehouse issues. At least, that’s what the young man working the area said. He wasn’t quite clear on what issues, but I doubt it’s the kind of thing management would take the time to explain to him.

WOOT!!
Just saw an article reporting that Disney actually might be planning something smart with Star Wars by releasing the original film in theaters in 2027, for the 50th anniversary. And the rumor is it might be the actual theatrical release.
Shut up and take my money!!!
I mean, wasn’t it Revenge of the Sith they released in theaters again for one weekend awhile back? And it made like $25 million.

While I was watching, my daughter came down to tell me there was a gecko in her room. So I went up to see about catching it. As soon as I turned the light on, the little shit crawled in the gap between her shades and the top of the window frame.
Since it was late, and I didn't feel like dismantling the shade to try and get at the little turd, I told my daughter to go sleep in the guest room. Later today, the boy and I will get in there to try and track down the elusive reptile.
I would prefer to "catch and release" it. That's my usual MO when these things get in the house. I'll kill it if I have to, though.

I've been fighting a cold, and bought some store-brand cold caplets yesterday, both daytime and nighttime. Took some of the daytime stuff yesterday afternoon, with no problem. The nighttime stuff, though....
I took the nighttime stuff before bed last night, and I'm still feeling the effects. It was even worse a few hours ago, when I first got up to take my medicine.
Needless to say, though I may take some of the daytime stuff a little later, I will not be taking the nighttime stuff again. It just knocks me for too much of a loop, and I have to get moving more quickly on weekdays.

I might also see if the wife wants to take the kids over to Walmart for some back to school shopping. They don't start until the 13th, but it might be worth it going today. The boy certainly needs new clothes for high school.
That doesn't have to be today, though. As I recall, the boy has an orientation for highschool on Thursday, and I was thinking of taking off work so the wife and I could both go. If I do, then we could probably do the back to school shopping the same day.

That remains to be seen. Already, there have been....omens.
The drive to work was exceedingly annoying for the first half. There was more than the usual amount of idiots on the road. Once I got up to the interstate, things improved a bit.
Now that I'm hearing in the office, Thomas is out (again). And there is a beeping noise. It's fairly steady. Not too loud. Not sure where it's coming from. I'm debating whether to try and track it down.

I did end up solving the gecko problem in my daughter's room. First, I checked the top of the blinds to make sure it wasn't hiding in there. Then I put some painter's tape over the gap between the blinds' top and the window frame, so that he wouldn't be able to crawl back in there. Then I waited.
Sure enough, last night she called down to say it was on her ceiling. So I enlisted the boy to help wrangle it. We did manage to catch it alive, but the boy injured it. I release it outside, but it was still there, and feebly twitching, this morning.
It's no longer in the house, though. So there's that.

One thing about the drive in I failed to mention...When I got off the interstate, the light was blinking red where I take the u-turn under the overpass. That actually turned out to be a blessing for me, though. It gave just enough delay to other cars that I was able to pull out onto the feeder road without a problem.

And I reached out to one of my old coworkers at the place I worked when I first moved down here. Thankfully, he remembered me. He's the head of all the mechanical engineers now. I had sent him a connection request on LinkedIn, but he hadn't accepted it yet.
So, anyway, I emailed him. We had a brief, but pleasant, exchange. He said he doesn't get on LinkedIn that much, which is why he never saw my connection request. Maybe that's true. I don't really care.

The boy had his first PLC meeting of the year last night. The last time he held the position of quartermaster was under the old scoutmaster (who's kind of a wanker), and that a-hole didn't want the quartermasters in the meeting. Although that didn't seem to apply to his son, the other quartermaster at the time.
Anyway, now we've got a new and improved scoutmaster, and he wanted the quartermasters to attend.
Afterward, I asked the boy if he at least contributed something. He said yes.
