The stuff around the house is a bit more extensive:
I've got a pork butt to get in the smoker, along with some maple bacon. That'll all take a good portion of the day.
Then there's showering and trimming my facial hair. I shaved my head yesterday, so don't need to worry about that until tomorrow.
There'll be some dishwashing up in there somewhere. As well, a bit of laundry.
Finally, I'd like the three of us (wife, daughter, myself) to get some cleaning done.

We should here from the boy and his expedition sometime today. They fly home tomorrow, so I imagine if they aren't already back at base camp, they will be before the day is done.
From there, they get cleaned up and head back to Minneapolis for the flight home. That should put them back in here in the home city sometime tomorrow evening.

I keep hearing more terrible news about the flooding here in Texas. So very sad. You wonder what could have been done to prevent the tragedy. Then you also wonder just how much we can ever do to protect ourselves from "nature's wrath", so to speak.
Nevertheless, I shall continue to offer up small prayers for the families.

The drive to the office was mostly annoying as f@#k (kind of like some people I'm familiar with). On the main road to the interstate, I was stuck behind some slow grandma-style driver. When this person finally did speed up, however, I was able to get around him.
Getting off the interstate was worse. Two big passenger buses were getting off at the same exit and moving at a snail's pace. They had several cars trapped, mine included. I got around one of them, but the lead bus was in front of me going through the U-turn under the overpass. I did finally manage to get in front of him on the feeder road, though.

The father of one of the scouts in my son's troop passed away. F@$k cancer. I didn't know him well, but what little I did know was that he was a pretty decent dude. And his kid's a good kid. Hopefully, the boy will continue on in scouting.
I might see if my boy wants to go to the funeral and pay his respects.

Now what I could be reacting to is another question entirely. The little tree I park my truck next to has blossoms all over it. Subsequently, they're all over my truck as well.
I'm also beginning to suspect maybe I have some pork allergy. I hope to all the gods that ever were or ever shall be that's incorrect. It would, however, be exactly the kind of sick joke the Universe would play on me.

Anyway, the boy is home. Safe and sound. He did lose his wallet, and the lake did, in fact, "take his hat". Otherwise, he had a fun trip.
They forgot some of their food and TP when they left base camp. The food part was hard to work with. The TP was easy, however. They were able to get some leftover from a crew going back in to base.

About a year ago, the company put a new feature on our company page: Employee Spotlight. The first person spotlighted was my supervisor. To this day, he's the only one who's been spotlighted.
Yet myself and another coworker were the two largest employee donors to the most recent fundraising....crickets.

At least, I think they say it. There are so many young people these days, and they so often say such silly (or just plain stupid) things, it's hard to remember.
I do know I've heard it said. That, at least, I do recall. Not sure of the origin, however. Perhaps I'll look it up one of these days. When I have absolutely nothing better to do.

The daughter of one of my younger fraternity brothers is appearing in a theater production of Annie. There appear to be two girls playing the role actually. Both of them appeared on one of the local news programs the other day. Good for them.
I think it's the same news show my mother watches. I'll have to ask her if she saw the segment.

It was weird getting home yesterday from work and seeing the boy. I had kind of gotten used to him not being there. He was useful though.
I had to run over to another scout leader's house to pick up some paperwork and made him come along. When we got there, I made the boy get out the truck and run up to the house to get the stuff.

Reason #1,394 why I occasionally dislike the IT department:
They needlessly complicate what should be a relatively straightforward process. I have two applications from a company for which new revisions were released. Updating to those new software revisions should take all of 10 minutes or less. Instead, I have to sit here and wait for someone to "approve" the updates so they can actually be installed. Even though the ticket I submitted had an email from someone IN IT who said, "yes, this is approved".
F#$king morons.
