I was slow to get in here and do my usual posting this morning. When I opened my email, there was a message from my supervisor with a task from the bigger boss of our group.
Apparently, before the other, younger mechanical engineer left he created an updated stress report for this problem project. Naturally, he sent this report to bigger boss last Friday. And naturally bigger boss didn't bother to look at it until yesterday - the day AFTER younger engineer's last day in the office. And NATURALLY, he found a mistake. Not a big one, but still a mistake.
So I had to fix that this morning. And since all the files for that project are stored on that idiotic OneDrive, it took me longer to find and save the project files than it did for me to actually make the changes.

I found out that one of the other mechanical designers (who was here when I started) turned in his one-week notice yesterday. Several of us kind of saw this coming. Ever since his buddy got let go, he'd been taking a lot of time off, and even negotiated a slight raise based on a reported other job offer.
I like the guy, but this is no big loss to be honest. He was a quick worker but made a lot of small errors.

Yesterday evening I did another Eagle Board of Review. This was for the older brother of one of our former problem scouts (cleaned up his act when we got rid of a malign influence). This older brother is a good kid, and a solid scout.
During the Board of Review, he told us about his "good turn" of the day - helping his parents with their dog. The dogs has failing back hips and is probably not long for this world. He helped carry her into the vet, then back home, and comforted her.
It was only after we were finished with the Board, which he passed, that his mother told us he had also given his parents $200 of his own money to help with the vet bill. So the kid was humble as well, not wanting to tell us about that bit.
Like I said, he's a good scout.

Anyway, the wife and I finished Clarkson's Farm last night. Great show. Now we just wait for Season 5.
In the meantime, I've got plenty to watch. I've got the Matrix Trilogy that was a Father's Day gift. Then I've got The Outlaw Josey Whales and The Connery Bond film collection, which arrived yesterday. All of these are in 4K, of course.

Part II of the F$%#ing stupid kid.
Apparently, the same young engineer who just left us did an updated stress analysis on a different section of piping for the same project. Yet he NEVER UPDATED THE REPORT FOR THAT SECTION OF PIPING!!!
AAAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!
So I had to do it. For a project I haven't worked on until today. I say again....
F$%#ing stupid kid.

The troop is currently projected to arrive back somewhere around 10 am. I was thinking I can pick him up while the wife is bringing our daughter to art class. When he gets home he can get cleaned up and maybe a little unpacked. By the time he's done with that, it'll hopefully be time to go pick up the girl from art class.
So we can then all go to pick up my daughter, and drive straight over to Five Guys for lunch. The one we'd be going to is conveniently located just down from my comic book store. So while the wife is ordering food, I can be picking up my comics.

I started watching some of my new 4K Connery Bond movies last night. The first two, to be precise. Dr. No is, of course, the one that kick started perhaps on of the most successful movie franchises of the film industry. From Russia with Love is, in my own never-at-all humble opinion, the greatest Bond movie of all time.
Some people might disagree with me on that assessment. They are, of course, entitled to be wrong.

I see it looks like they're going to have Jon Bernthal appear as Punisher in the next Spiderman movie. That could be cool, but the movie is already kind of DOA for me. Not only did they pick a horrible title (if you're an actual Spiderman fan), but they've also confirmed the craptastic Zendaya and that kid playing Ned.
Seriously? Move on from those idiots. Bring in the real MJ. And maybe just bring in Ned to kill him off.

Huzzah! The boy is home. He had fun at camp, earned most of the merit badges he signed up for (they almost always have some stuff that can't be done at camp), and didn't spend too much money.
He did, however, come down with a bit of a rash. We're pretty sure it was from the traces amounts of anti-skeeter treatment we used on his Skeeter netting last year.

I'm sure there are some people who don't think so.
Having seen the big news this morning, I was sad it had to happen. However, I completely understand that it did have to happen. That it was inevitable. And that we probably missed several opportunities over the last few decades to do something like this a bit more peacefully.
