Not that I can't come up with extra stuff to do. Pretty sure I've got a list somewhere.
Even if it's only in my head.
My doctor visit went pretty well yesterday. I really like the new doctor. We were shooting the $%#t about camping up in Canada. And he's going to get me a new cholesterol medicine.
Work was mostly just annoying. I as going to do some stress analysis, but the client still isn't sure about design changes. Morons.
At some point I referred to is as "this thrice-damned project".
The boy left out for his camping trip down to Brazos Bend with the scouts yesterday. They had three of the brand new scouts with them. These are the scouts who just crossed over from Cub Scouts within the last few weeks. They are....very tiny.
This camping trip is supposed to be all about preparing for Camporee in April. That'll be the camping trip where they compete against other troops in various skill and knowledge related events. Our troop won last year (which is twice since the boy joined the troop).
Even with the stated goal of Camporee prep, I told the boy to get some requirements done. He's just got three or so in order to finally earn his Second Class rank. Plus I told him if he doesn't get them done, he can expect to be banned from the computer (and maybe all electronics) for at least a week.
Ugh! I gave in to temptation and had chick-fil-a for lunch. Shouldn't have done that. It's not healthy for me.
On the plus side, the Kentucky PE License stamp I ordered Wednesday was delivered today. Huzzah!
A little bit cooler than I expected it to be today. It's currently in the low 50s. Which means the boy might be a little cold out on his camping trip. All his jackets and his sweatshirt are here at the house.
I'm not too concerned. The temp didn't drop until overnight, when he'd have been sleeping. And he probably packed a long sleeve shirt. That plus his rain gear jacket should keep him at least slightly not cold.
Plus, they'll be coming back early this morning.
Speaking of this morning....
I woke up, looked at the time on my phone, and saw that it was close to 8 am. I was kind of happy thinking I had gotten more sleep than usual, until I looked at the other clocks in the house and realized it was Daylight Savings Time.
Stupid, unnecessary Big Government mandated time change.

Still, there was something good. I made the decision yesterday to wait until this morning to clean up the leaves out front. We got some rain and wind last night, and it looks to have cleared the leaves for me.
Score one for procrastination!
And we'll see if my extra effort at laundry yesterday will spare me a bit of work today.
Especially considering I had a beer while watching TV last night, so this morning I'll be dragging ass a bit. I'm no longer use to the booze.
In the past 2 years, I think I can count on two hands the number of times I've had any booze.
Speaking of watching TV....I finally got around to watching the new animated parts 1 & 2 of Watchmen. It's been awhile since I read the original story, but this new version seemed to be a more faithful adaptation. The animation threw me off a bit here and there, but overall it wasn't too bad.
A bit more good news: The boy FINALLY completed most of his requirements to earn his Second Class rank. All he’s got left is a Board of Review. Since he’s my boy, I can’t sit on it. I’ll have to find three people to do it for me.
Damn those buzzards! There were (according to my daughter) ten of them out in the trees behind our backyard fence. They’re stalking me….again!
Not today, you’d feathered bastiches!
So far, anyway.
It was a bit cool than I'd prefer this morning. However, it was one of those mornings where I don't shave my head (something I do every other day), so getting ready was a bit quicker. I got off from the house with no problems, got around the few jackasses who tried to ruin my morning commute right out of the subdivision, and otherwise had a very pleasant drive to the office.
There was even plenty of good music on the radio. Because...yes. I still listen to the radio. I figure someone has to.
The boy was telling me one of the tales from his recent camping trip with the scouts. Apparently, a racoon got into one of the coolers for another patrol and started eating their bread. Then he left (or got scared off), only to come back a little later and knock over a garbage can.
Stupid trash panda. Or perhaps, not so stupid. I've often heard they are wicked smart.
Anyway, not sure what the week has in store for me. Hopefully something more interesting than the last few weeks.
That reminds me. I've got to send a slack message to the rest of the committee to make sure we have enough committee members for boards of review on Tuesday. I need to make sure they can do a three-man BOR without me.
Of course, first I should make sure there actually is a meeting. After a campout we typically have a Patrol Leader Council Meeting. That's just the elected scout leaders and the scoutmaster. Usually, no BORs are done. For some reason, this week the schedule I have is showing a regular meeting. Might be due to spring break next week.
It's a bit warmer this morning (by about 10 degrees), so very pleasant outside. We'll get up somewhere in the high 70s. And the drive in was pleasant (again), which surprised me. Tuesdays are usually worse for some reason.
One thing I forgot to mention yesterday, the very last bit of my drive, when I take the u-turn under the interstate, the feeder road on the other side was all kinds of backed up. I didn't have too much trouble getting over and turning down my street, so it didn't bother me all that much.
Turns out the traffic back up was the result of a bad car accident with 3 fatalities. Very sad.
Beyond that, yesterday was none too bad. A bit on the boring side.
We've got a lunch and learn today, though. From a company that makes pipe supports and access platforms. Should be cool, especially for we mechanical engineers, since they want us to do more with the pipe supports (makes sense).
And the lunch part is apparently going to be fajitas. Mmmmm....
Scout meeting tonight. So the boy can get his Board of Review and finally advance another rank.
As noted elsewhere, they announced a re-release and special showings of Jaws for the 50th anniversary of the movie. It's only one of my favorites, so you can be sure I'll go see it in the theater.
I heard sad news about the HP series on Max. If true, I doubt I'll bother watching it. The news tells me they have no real intention of producing a faithful adaptation.
As with yesterday, it was a little bit warmer this morning. Though still pleasantly cool. The drive in was a bit busier than usual, but for the most part not too bad.
The lunch and learn we had in the office yesterday was pretty cool. It was a company that does pipe supports and structural steel fabrication. They brought goodies and food. Chicken fajitas. Mmmmm...
The presentation itself was pretty generic. Still, we do a lot of business with them, so it's nice to have names and faces to work with.
Otherwise, the work day was kind of a bust. There was one other meeting I was supposed to attend, but it got cancelled. So I spent the rest of my time trying to find stuff to do. I hate slow times.
Speaking of slow....
The boy finally earned his Second Class rank last night. It only took him something like a year and half. Maybe two years. I can't recall. I'm proud of him for at least finally getting off his lazy ass and accomplishing something. Hopefully, we can keep that fire lit under his butt.
We did one other Board of Review last night. This other one was for the scoutmaster's youngest son. So I sat on his BOR, then the scoutmaster's wife and I switched out so she could sit on my boy's BOR. He's a good kid, with a good future as a leader in the troop.
I also found out that another scout, who turns 18 today, was able to get his paperwork submitted, reviewed, and approved for his Eagle Rank. So now all we need are his Letters of Recommendation. Once we have those, I can schedule his Eagle Board of Review. He's a pretty good kid, so I look forward to him earning that rank.
Our troop recruitment chair, whose son earned his Eagle last year and aged out, was telling us a funny story. The son, who's now in college, was going camping with a bunch of his buddies for Spring Break. None of his other friends were scouts (let alone Eagle Scouts), so he was complaining to his dad about the lack of commitment to proper campout planning exhibited by his friends. It was....amusing.
A vendor brought in some mini Chick-fil-a sammiches this morning, but I resisted that temptation. That stuff is bad for my stomach.
I'm not so sure it will be. I had a decent enough drive to work, but the workday itself will probably be kind of boring.
There's a big push for a problem project I'm not working. And I don't want to work it. The problems are all electrical and structural anyway, so not my field of expertise.
