Of course, there probably wouldn't be the freak out from the PM if said PM wasn't an eager-to-please brown-noser who continuously sucks up to clients by overpromising and setting super-aggressive schedules. It's gotten us into trouble before.
Luckily, as I said, this shouldn't be too bad, and our civil should have no problems moving forward with some basic assumptions.
As for me, I've got plenty to do this morning. And probably the rest of the day as well. I've got ISOs, a Plot Plan, and cover sheet to check first thing this morning. And the (good) PM on my other project has set a meeting for later 8:30 this morning to go over where we stand on the part of the project to be issued today.
Of course, I did see an email from the dude they decided was the head of all mechanical designers. He had a comment on my package that looked like he wants to change line numbers on the site. I don't think so. I'll have to go back and check, but I'm pretty sure he's mistaken about the way the line numbers have to be set up.
Not to mention, changing now would not only cause way more work, it would also cause massive headaches with the line numbers themselves.
Ugh! The rain has stopped until at least Sunday, but it's still very cloudy and cold. I think the wind chill has been staying at somewhere around -10 degF.
My wife refuses to leave the house, except to get the daughter from the bus this afternoon. I can't say I blame her. I only left once, to bring some clothes to the cleaners and pick up whatever I had there.
It looks like we're going to get our package out today, though. So that's a good thing.
I still never got a decent file I could convert over into the Caesar format, but at least I discussed it with the PM and he now understands the civil engineer has what she needs to move forward.
Now I'm just debating what to do for dinner tonight. Maybe Outback? We usually do BBQ, and I get some turkey. Something different might be nice.
It was delicious, but I try not to have it too often. I’ve actually held to that better than I ever thought I would. Not just steak, but red meat in general. Bad for the health.
Now if only I could get myself to cut back on the salt more…..
And cut back on coff…..
Ah, now I’m just talking crazy.
And those f@$&ers in New Mexico have not yet responded to my simple request from earlier today regarding the status of my PE license. On the 23rd of December they received my letter and check to be processed as the last stage for licensing. They started processing it (supposedly) on the 30th. So that’s just about 2 weeks ago.
F@$&ing bureaucrats. They’re the same everywhere. Incompetent fools who don’t give a damn about their job, so long as they can rake in money from taxpayers.
Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if they delay it longer, just because I asked for an update. That seems to me to be exactly the kind of thing a petty government bureaucrat would do.
I saw a story that James Woods was actually like an executive producer or something on Oppenheimer, but that he kept his name off the movie so the Commies in Hollywood would be less prone to attacking it.
Now I’ve gotta watch it at some point. When I’ve got a million hours….
I saw an article that apparently some revelations were accidentally made about the Nintendo Switch 2. Interesting.
For some odd reason, puppy yoga clips are showing up in my YouTube feed. I mean, puppies are awesome and cool. Often quite funny. I don’t mind videos of puppies.
I’m just wondering how yoga got thrown into the mix.
Then again, this is the same app that suddenly started offering me Kpop videos after I had watched some Korean Language shows on Netflix.
Woot! I successfully tricked the wife into taking the dog out to potty. Of course, I’ll be the last one to take her out later tonight, and the first to take her out tomorrow morning. So I’ve probably got it a bit worse.
I was debating not watching B5 tonight, but I’m really eager to finish the series.
I realized when I was finally out of the house and on the go that I had completely neglected my early morning posting. I could hardly believe I had denied you people my presence and wisdom, however brief I normally make my visits.
Work yesterday stayed busy most of the day. And I know there are some folks working today, and probably through the weekend. Not on my project, though. There's one project the electrical dudes are working to get out by Monday.
It was cold again last night, and this morning. It's turned sunshiney though, so that's warmed things up a bit. It's kind of a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
I'm almost done with season 4 of Babylon 5. Got two more episodes to go. After that I'm debating continuing on with all of season 5. I might just skip around a bit. Or I could cut straight to the finale, which is one of my favorite episodes.
Or I could break out my 4K copy of Godzilla Minus One.
That's tonight though. For the remainder of the day, I still have things to do. Especially house things like laundry, emptying the dishwasher, and cleaning up a few things.
I also want to go put gas in my truck, and perhaps air in one of the tires. When we got hit with the cold this week, the pressure in all my tires dropped (as was to be expected). The right rear tire is always a bit worse in that regard, and it's the one which triggered the warning sensor. If I want to reset the warning, I've got to put a bit of air into it.
I might as well get that done sometime later. It'll be a bit warmer. And tomorrow we're supposed to get more rain.
The whole air in the tire thing used to be easier. I had my own air compressor. The bleed valve on it broke , however. I've been meaning to see about getting it fixed, but until then I need to use the compressor at the gas station.
Anyway, I've got other things to do. So it's time to deprive you all of my glorious presence for awhile. I'm sure most people around here will be utterly dismayed.
Ugh. Nail in my truck’s right, rear tire. Well, that explains the slow leak. I brought it to the dealership to get taken care of. Normally, I’d just go someplace closer, but while I was putting air in another tire the pressure went down instead of up. So I’m having them look at that one as well.
The news is on in the dealership waiting room. They’re covering the fires in California. Ouch. Having experienced nature’s wrath in a multitude of ways, I can sympathize.
The waiting area had really cool coffee machines. They take a kind of mesh disc instead of a pod. I assume it’s more eco friendly. If my Kuerig ever poops out, maybe I should look into something like what they have.
Of course, the sucky part about bringing it to the dealership is how busy they are. I expect this to take awhile.
The other sucky part being I stayed up way too late last night, then had trouble getting to sleep. So I’m feeling very run down today.
Hmmm……soda machines you pay for vs free coffee. I’ll take the coffee, thank you very much.
Or water. I’m good with that as well.
In fact, most of what I drink is water or coffee. Soda is a rarity. Booze is even more of a rarity. I think I drank on two occasions all of 2024.
Although, to be honest, I’ve been cutting back on the booze for years. Started right around the time my Thyroid $&@! the bed.
Hmmm…..it’s a bit emptier in here now. I’m hoping that’s a good sign. Maybe that I’ll be out of here soonish.
It looks like they have a room where you can get some quiet and plug in devices. Not surprised, but it’s don’t recall if it was here last time.
I should have brought a book to read.
At least I did remember to bring my phone charger. Just in case…..
At least, I think it has the potential to be a Happy day. We'll see. It's going to be a bit warmer, like yesterday. It's also supposed to be cloudy with rain. So from a weather perspective, maybe not....
We've got some errands to run today, though. So a trip to Walmart, Target, and Michaels (craft store) are in order. Maybe a few other places. We'll have to see.
The important thing is a heavy jacket for the boy. We realized this past week, when it got really cold, that he no longer had one that fit him.
And my trip the the dealership for the tire situation turned out better than expected. Turns out the only real problem was the nail in that one tire. It was such a slow leak, and typically only made itself known when the weather got fairly cold, that I barely noticed.
I reached season 5 of Babylon 5 last night, and continued watching. Not sure if I'll watch the whole season.
