I don't think I have much to going on this weekend, other than the usual. The boy was supposed to pull a 2 hour shift at a scouting event Saturday morning, but that was cancelled due to expected rain. (and generally unpleasant weather).
I suppose. For someone, anyway. For me it’s more like Meh Saturday.
I felt mostly blah yesterday. But kept busy with work. This morning I still felt kind of blah. Though that kind of got pushed to the side since I had stuff to get done.
The weather is horrible, though. Started off in the low 40s and is only supposed to get into the low 50s. The rain is making it seem colder though.
I’m back home now, however. I don’t see myself leaving the house the rest of the day. I’ve had lunch, and now an after lunch snack.
We’ll see how the rest of the day goes.
Maybe we can get around to actually decorating the tree this weekend.
I’m just hoping the rain slacks off or stops by sometime tomorrow. I’ve got to take one of my outside decorations down because it’s not working properly. And I’ve got to install the new thermal cover on my sprinkler system backflow preventer.
In the meantime, I’m content to maybe sit around and do some reading. Perhaps a bit of bagging and boarding.
Last night I watched my 4K copy of Escape from New York. Such an awesome movie. And it looked really great in 4K.
After that was over I watched the animated The Return of the King. That’s the Rankin and Bass production from 1980. Cheesy, but fun.
Stupid dog ate a plastic cup. Well, chewed it to pieces, anyway.
She’s been very bad lately.
At least I hope it will be. I don't have to go anywhere (that I know of), so that's a plus already. Which is good, since it's supposed to be another chilly, rainy day.
We didn't get around to any Christmas Tree decorating yesterday, so I'm hoping we can get it done this morning. Then I can get the containers of ornaments out of my front room/office.
And if I get the front room cleaned out of ornament containers, I can get around to a bit more reorganizing of my comic book drawers.
And if I get that bit of reorganizing done, I can get a move on re-bagging and boarding my older comics.
So the day seems to depend on a lot of "what if?".
On top of all that, I've probably got another three loads of laundry to do. I've got to put some turkey breasts in a brine. I've got a few dishes to wash by hand.
And I'm not sure what I'll have for lunch later today. The turkey breasts are meant for dinner later tonight. Maybe with some air fryer bake potatoes.
Then tomorrow it's back to that evil place that pays me lots of money. I'm hoping it won't be as crazy a work week as this past one.
Last night, just for s%&ts and giggles, I watched Dredd again. Such an awesome movie. Far superior to the one with Stallone.
And that Olivia Thirlby.....MMMMMmmmmm
Now it's time for some mapping. Maybe a third cup of coffee somewhere along the way.
So far, anyway. Slept well. I'm not feeling too blah this morning. Had a decent drive in to the office. And I'm not expecting a super busy or crazy day.
Of course, it is going to be a long day. I've got work, then a Troop Committee meeting later tonight.
No rest for the (only slightly) wicked.
And it's going to be a busy week overall, as well. I've got the stuff today. Tomorrow it's my daughter's birthday, plus work and a troop meeting. Wednesday and Thursday are the usual, but I think we've got another package scheduled to go out.
Either way, we're building up to the week of Christmas. Which means we'll probably be trying to get a bunch of stuff out the door here at work, to compensate for not much going on Christmas week, or the one after.
Speaking of Christmas, I've got to get something for the wife. I seem to recall her sending me a helpful suggestion, but I'll have to go back through my texts with her to see.
Anyway, time to go do stuff.
And the happiest of birthdays to my baby girl. She's old enough to get into Hogwarts now, but I doubt we'll see a letter anytime soon.
Unfortunately, I won't get to see much of her today. Though I did at least get to wish her Happy Birthday and give her a birthday hug and kiss. Then I had to leave for work. By the time I get home this evening, we'll have just enough time to Facetime with Granny before she goes off to her pottery class. While she's gone to that, I'll leave for the scout meeting with the boy. By the time we get home, she should be in bed.
Speaking of work... I had a good drive in today.
It's always easier to face the workday when you don't start off in a bad mood from a crappy drive.
Yesterday was also a pretty easy day. And today should be pretty not bad either.
The building we're in is hosting a Christmas lunch for everyone. I will not be getting any of that food, however. It's Italian, which (a) doesn't often agree with my stomach, (b) is probably not good for my cholesterol, and (c) is vastly overrated anyway.
Besides, it's not like the Italians invented pasta....
That would be the Chinese. One of the actually good things they've contributed to the world.
And, by extension, Kung Fu movies.
My daughter had a happy birthday, yesterday. This despite the dog eating her heavy jacket. And a bowl. And my son's water bottle.
So the wife had to run out and get our daughter a new jacket, since it was going to be very cold this morning. For Houston, anyway.
And it was cold. Started last night. The wind was already crazy, and once the sun went down the temperature dropped quickly. By this morning the wind had died down, but it was in the upper 30s.
Brrr....
I had to break out my big winter coat, since my usual jacket still has a busted zipper.
Didn't find my gloves, but I wasn't too bothered by that. Thanks to my built-in steering wheel warmer.
Had an adequate drive in to work. Mostly because I was just able to get out ahead of a flock of school buses. Then there were these two douchenozzles slowing everyone down by going the same speed next to each other. One of them got in a turn lane after getting me caught at the light, so that butthead was finally out of the way.
Anyway, I suppose it's time to go do other stuff. After I post my other usual things, of course.
Even though I feel kind of blah, and it's a cold morning, I'm still having a decent day so far. Had a good drive in, despite the best efforts of some idiots on the road.
