And, WOOT! I'm back up to about 130 lbs.
That's still about 20 lbs off from what had been my regular weight. Still, progress!
The boy also has his troop swim test today. Let's hope he actually completes it this time.
Otherwise, I'll have to pay for him to go back to the swim class place, practice a bit, then have one of the certified folk there fill out his form.
It's not entirely his fault. He just doesn't get a chance to swim all that much. And our subdivision's pool doesn't open up until near the end of May. So even with the weather being warm enough for swimming, he can't practice.
Meanwhile, the young man we ranked up to Eagle the other day has hopes of becoming an Olympic Swimmer in the near future. And his entire future career is based on swimming.
Anyway, I think I've got time for a third cup of coffee and some map work before starting on my yard work.
I took PTO today. Partly because I just wanted another day off. Partly because I wanted to go downtown myself and deliver the paperwork for two scouts - one who just became an Eagle, the other who wants to become and Eagle.
I probably could have had someone else do it for me, but I wanted to do it myself. Plus, I’ve been wanting to visit the SHAC headquarters, as I’d heard it was really nice.
It did not disappoint.
Anyway, now the Eagle Scout is just waiting for his certificate. And I’ve got to arrange a Board of Review for the one who wants to earn his Eagle.
On the way home, I stopped by another comic book store and found some more back issues.
And the boy passed his swim test yesterday. I’m very proud of him. And made sure to let him know it.
He also helped me spread mulch yesterday.
Then the rain came last night and washed a bunch of it out.
Back in the office today. Forty emails while I was gone.
That's both worse and not as bad as I expected.
At least traffic was only slightly sucktastic.
Speaking of Foggy. I just realized the other day the dude who played Foggy Nelson in the Netflix Daredevil series was also one of the kids in The Mighty Ducks.
It's Wednesday morning! That means work from home!
My wife shared with me news that left her horrified....
Peter Jackson's LotR trilogy is coming back to theaters in June. Remasterd 4K and extended edition! HUZZAH!
And I got my copy of Simonson's Ragnarok Volume 3!
Now if only I could find the elusive Volume 2 at a reasonable price.
Although, at this point, I just have to hope he comes out with Volume 4, and they then decide to reprint older collected editions to drum up some PR.
Well, yesterday sucked ass.
Not as badly as it could have, but I'm just waiting for that other shoe to drop.
It's interesting, however, to be expected to do the work of the lead mechanical engineer, without being otherwise treated like a lead mechanical engineer.
I mean, if you expect me to work on your project, it might be nice to invite me to the kick-off meeting where you provide all the details of what you need me to do.
And maybe make sure my email address is spelled correctly, so I actually get all the emails associated with the project.
Anyway, now I'm job hunting to find a new place before this one drives me crazier than I already am.
Yesterday was a super crappy weather day most of the morning. The wind and rain were crazy strong. The small pond out front of the office where I work flooded over into the road. The building lost power for a bit. Roads in the surrounding area flooded as well, and at least one street was blocked by downed power lines.
So around noon thirty the powers that be said more bad weather was on the way and that we should all go home and work from there.
So I did.
An hour or so later we had bright sunshine.
Overnight the rain started up again. So another crappy morning. The drive to work was rough, but doable. I left a little early, just to be safe and give myself extra time.
There were, of course, a few morons being overly cautious. And a few greater morons being overly adventurous.
Also, when I got home yesterday, our recycling bin had vanished. I assume the wind took it. Where is anyone's guess. My wife put a notice on some next door app thing.
It was also a rather unpleasant work day, but that's becoming par for the course in this place.
At least it's Friday. And I have nothing going on other than "celebrating" another trip around the sun.
Speaking of....
At the beginning of each month, HR sends out a notice of all the employee birthdays for that month. Guess who wasn't on the list.
At first I thought they were trying to tell me something. Then another dude in my group, whose birthday is shortly after mine, told me he also wasn't on it.
There were very few people in the office yesterday. Most took advantage of the offer from management to work from home due to the crappy weather and potential flooding.
I, of course, was a manly man. Ain't no rain gonna stop me.
That being said, with the lack of large numbers of people, and the continued horrid weather, the lady from HR decided to order pizza for whomever was there. So we wouldn't have to go anywhere for lunch.
So I got free pizza. And that's always a good thing.
Tomorrow, I'm going to cook some gumbo.
In honor of Cinco de Mayo. Kind of.
Those who know me, know it's a thing.
Which pretty much precludes most people around here.
