The wife and I did go to lunch together. Sadly, however, we were not able to visit our usual lunch place, the Wacky Mongolian. Apparently, they are now closed on Tuesdays.
Instead we hit up another location nearby called the 242 Grill. I had some boiled crawfish, but only about 5 pounds. They were....adequate. Tasted okay, but a little overcooked, which made them annoying to peel.

Huh! I got a call back from some lady about a job. This was a hiring firm lady who reached out to me through Indeed about an opportunity apparently here in my area (or somewhere relatively close to it).
I didn't recognize her number when she called, so didn't answer the phone. Now that I've had my afternoon coffee, I can take a few minutes to review what her initial message and job posting were about, then call her back.
I doubt anything will come of it, but that's just the pessimi....realist in me.

Well, well...
I spoke to that lady from the hiring firm, and she right away apologized to me because the job she was looking at me for is with....my previous employer.
So the company is looking for a lead mechanical engineer. And this isn't the first position they've been looking to fill based on someone they got rid of back in December. That, plus speaking with a dude who (until this coming Friday) was still with the company, confirms something I've suspected since that day. They weren't "restructuring" so much as getting rid of everyone one particular manager didn't like.
Since that day they got rid of all of us, they've also lost two other managers whom I know this other particular manager did not get along with. Both of those guys left voluntarily though. I always knew that dude was a douchebag.

Tonight was the last troop meeting for a long time adult leader. I’m talking ten years or more. His own sons had long since aged out, but he kept helping the troop.
Anyway, so now he’s fully retired from his old job as a vet. Now he and his wife are moving to North Carolina to be close to kids and grandkids.
Anyway, I’ll miss him. He was a good guy.
