The wife and kids leave this morning to journey to Louisiana, returning my mother and spending a week visiting people.
And last night was when my wife finally realized next Sunday is Father's Day.
She wouldn't have realized it if my own mother hadn't said something.
So I'm working in the office until around lunchtime, then I'll be going home and working from there the rest of the week.
The only reason I came in for awhile today was that we have a new Lead Mechanical Engineer starting. I wanted to see what he might be like before making any further moves regarding my future at this company,
If he's a wanker, I might accelerate my plans to find another job.
Still, this also happens to be the final week at the company for our most recent group head. He's departing for other pastures. Which is cool, since pretty most folk agree he isn't much of a manager.
I mean, he was a kind of nice guy. Even though he was a bit on the young side. And had some overall stupid ideas in his head.
Before I even think of departing this place, I've got to strengthen my skills. I've already started moving in that direction. Trying to get more training on this program called Caesar II. It's a pipe stress analysis program.
That's what happens when you waste part of your career working for the government, then decide to enter an industry that's actually benefited mankind.
Anyway, I suppose it's time to start making something that in no way even remotely resembles donuts.
