Of course, getting to work later than usual means I have to stay later than usual. Probably. They don't like us using anything less than a half day of PTO. As long as I get to work by at least 8:30, I can probably get out of there no later than 5 pm.

Which is good, since I have a scout meeting tonight.

And apparently we're having the meeting outside. Some kind of campfire bullcrap. Personally, I think it's stupid. Especially since it means even I will need bug spray.

We also had a committee meeting last night. The scoutmaster was nearly crying just talking about the scout that died. I honestly don't get that. I'm sad the boy died, but not enough for that.

Then gain, I can be kind of an emotional black hole. The only thing that escapes that gravity well is anger.

And maybe a bit of sarcastic humor.

Anyway, beyond the full schedule, I don't know what's going down at work today. We'll see in a little while. Getting there later than usual, it's really going to suck not having my usual parking space (unless I get lucky).

I sent an email that may or may not reduce two adults to tears. I'm awesome that way.

In my defense, it is for a good cause.

AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!

I set in motion the renewal of my New Mexico PE license last Friday. Sent the chick who does all the licensing the information she needed to get AP to cut me a check for the renewal fee. Talking to her today and it sounds like she didn't even bother moving forward with it.

DAMNIT! I was hoping to get the renewal in the mail today. New Mexico, being the bass ackwards state they are, does it all manually.

In the meantime, I have to once again decide my own path of what to do at work today. Because the bosses have no work for me. Something which has become common over the last several months.

So I've got some technical papers I'll read through. The first one is a real page turner - "Vibrations in Reciprocating Machinery and Piping Systems". It's only 30 something pages, so I'll probably follow it up with "Acoustic Pulsation Problems in Compressors and Pumps".

Huzzah! The big boss asked me for some calculations. They were simple enough: Stored Energy and Safe Distance calcs for a pneumatic test. And I even pointed out some mistakes the construction guys were making.

I skimmed through an article about Warner setting a record by having seven consecutive films open at the box office to $40 million or more. It’s a small win, I think. Still, it’s a win.

Our furry beast ate a McDonald’s BBQ packet today. Thankfully, that was the extent of her badness.

So far, it's a mixed bag. I didn't want to get up but had an easy time of it. I also had a pretty decent drive to the office, despite a few attempted roadblocks.

Then I found out they interviewed another in the continuing line of MEs. Unlike the previous one, this latest seems to have a lot of experience. So I guess they are moving forward with the idea of replacing me.

Ah well, I liked this place at one point but won't be too upset about moving on. I just hope I find something new before they decided to let me go.

Of course, that means I have no hope of decreasing my stress levels any time soon.

Our scout meeting last night was held outdoors. There was a fire and a flag retirement. Fun was had by some people. Not me. Even I had to put on bug spray to keep the damned skeeters off.

And we only had one injury the whole night. One of the scouts ran into a picnic table while playing football. Scraped his leg pretty good. Luckily, the scoutmaster's wife is a doctor.

I have an Eagle Board of Review tonight. This is a scout who transferred over to our troop just so he could do this. His old troop folded just before he could get all his Eagle requirements done. I've never even met him.

So that's another long day ahead of me. I'll be much happier when it's Thursday.
