Most other folks don't start arriving until after 7 am. So....another 10 minutes maybe.
Those damned bureaucrats in New Mexico! On a whim, I decided to check the roster of licensees. It was last updated on 27 December, 4 whole days AFTER my letter and check were delivered. I understand that two of those days were Christmas Eve and Christmas. Still, if they had time to update the roster, they had time to check a gods damned PO box.
F$%&ing bureaucrats.
That remains to be seen, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to be very happy. At least, not for me.
I haven't been feeling well. Again.
At least I had another good drive to the office. That's one of the best things about this time of year. Except for that one point where some douchebag caused me to catch a certain light, which made me miss the green light at the next intersection.
And there's a rumor the big bosses are going to let us go home early today. That'd be fine by me.
Especially considering the wife isn't feeling well either. She's got a sinus infection.
Speaking of New Mexico, I emailed my PoC in the PE Board office early yesterday morning. Probably 6 am their time. She finally got back to me around 1:30 their time (What's 7-1/2 hours between friends?). She said they did get my paperwork and the check and were processing everything.
So I figure I'll probably have my license approved by the end of January.
Oooohhhh...time for coffee.
Did I mention they installed cameras in the kitchen area? I guess lunch stealing is a thing?
In all seriousness, though, they did say it was for health and safety reasons. I can see that. The kitchen is "L" shaped, with the shorter length being out of sight from the entrance. Couple that with sometimes water gets spilled on the floor, creating a tripping hazard, and I can totally understand the need for cameras.
It's quiet. Almost too quiet. Only Old Dude Glenn is here with me. He was here first, actually. He's quiet and keeps to himself though. Kind of like the opposite of me.
(Not so) Happy Wednesday!
It's a mixed bag. The office is closed, so I get a break from work. However, the wife and I are both feeling blah. And New Years is nothing special. We just kind of sit around doing the same thing as most other days.
I think because New Years is right at the tail end of the cursed month of December, it kind of suffers from the same curse.
I spent about 20 minutes transferring all my maps to an old flash drive. I use it to backup those files every few months. And since we're getting a new computer, I'll have to transfer everything over to that. So this was as good a day as any to do a new back up. Something I hadn't done since June.
At least we had a semi-decent night last night. I was able to get the dog to go out and potty, despite a-holes shooting off fireworks. And I only woke up briefly when all the a-holes were engaging in "hey, let's celebrate one day changing into the next in the most annoying way possible".
Maybe if we actually had people to celebrate with, and the month of December didn't curse us with misery, I might enjoy it more. I doubt it, though, because I try to be a responsible pet owner.
Anyway, not much going on today. I'll probably do a bit of mapping. Maybe some reading. Or possibly some bagging and boarding. Maybe a bit of all three.
Oh, yes. Just as I expected, those PoS bureaucrats in New Mexico are still slow-walking my PE license. They've had my approval letter and the $155 check for the final fee since Monday. At this point it was just a formality, but they've decided to delay that as well. Probably because I inquired as to the status a few times over the past 2-1/2+ months they've had my application.
And by a few times, I mean maybe 3 emails since 11 October. So it's not like I was pestering them every day. Or even every week. I imagine just one email asking for a status update was enough to put those petty little bureaucrats in high dudgeon. Thus the slow-walking.
Well, I slept poorly. I'm not feeling particularly well (though not horrid either). And I'm back in the office. So, no. Probably not a happy day. Who knows what the future holds, though.
At least I had a mostly decent drive to work.
And Thomas is back in the office. Huzzah! He and I don't talk much, but I like him.
Well, yesterday went just about like I expected it to go. I did some map work. I did some reading. I did not do any bagging and boarding, however.
I don't expect today to be super busy here in the office, but you never know. I've got at least two major projects going. We were supposed to get one of them out IFA on Tuesday, but it looks like that schedule is slipping due to the client being dumbasses regarding permitting. The other big project is set for a review today, but the next issuance is still a week or two away.
I did have an email pop into my inbox supposedly from IT for some training. Not sure if it's legit. I'll probably report it as phishing. Just in case.
It's quiet. Not too quiet, though. Folks should start rolling in about 20 minutes from now.
Who knows? Maybe today I will finally get confirmation on my PE License from New Mexico. That would be nice.
I won't hold my breath, however.
Still no word from New Mexico. Those douchenozzles are determined to slow walk my application. I bet they already cashed that damned check, though.
I'm just going to assume it'll be a happy day because (a) It's Friday, (b) Since it's Friday, that means tomorrow is Saturday, which for me is comic book day, and (c) It's Work from Home day.
So, until I learn otherwise, it's "Happy".
Of course, the pessimist in me is pretty sure something will come along to make it "not happy".
But the optimist in me is trying desperately to tie the pessimist up, gag him, blindfold him, then bury him alive in a deep, dark forest where no one would ever find him.
Of course, first I'd have to find a deep dark forest....
I don't expect too much work today.
We had a review on one project yesterday, and the other muckity mucks decided to change around my site on me. It was mostly just moving things around. Nothing too horrid.
For the other big project, the designer wants to get a phone conference together to make sure everyone is on the same page and (hopefully) answer any lingering questions we currently have.
On the home front, since I'm working here today, and can supervise things, I'm probably going to have the children begin undecorating the Christmas Tree so we can take it down and banish it back to the attic.
After that, I might have them do some chores around the house. There are things and areas that could do with a good cleaning.
I suppose I could also wait with bated breath to see if those ratf$#%ks in New Mexico finally give me my license. They've purposely delayed things this long, however, so I don't know why they wouldn't try to drag it out another week or two.
I nearly forgot!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PROFESSOR TOLKIEN!!!
