Happy for the kids, at least. They get off the whole week of school. It's a teacher vacation called fall break. We'll just ignore how much it might inconvenience other parents.
Not sure if the girl is sick. The test they ran on her at the clinic yesterday was "inconclusive". So they sent a sample off for further testing.
Hopefully, we'll know more by Wednesday or Thursday.
In the meantime, she has to drink plenty of fluids and cranberry juice (which she already doesn't like). And we have to hope she doesn't get any worse.
It's looking to be a busy week here at work. I've got purge and pack volumes to calculate for at least three metering stations. I've got some hydrotest document comments to review (and possibly incorporate). And it looks like I've got some as-built markups to incorporate.
And that's just the stuff I know about.
With the kids out of school, I don't have to wait around in the morning to get them up. So I get to leave earlier than usual, which typically leads to a nice, easy drive.
I like nice, easy drives.
For some reason, however, that didn't hit me until I was almost done getting ready this morning. Talk about a way to instantly make your morning a little brighter.
Well, I'm sure the dog will be happy to have her kids home. The wife, maybe not so much.
Now that my morning co-worker discussions are out of the way...
Happy Tuesday?!?
Meh. The jury's still out on that one.
If I were a betting man, however, I'd put money on it not being a happy day. Maybe a semi-decent one, at best.
I didn't sleep well last night. And although my drive in was adequate, I had an email right off the bat that's going to make this day more annoying.
It's the client that just won't go away.
My supervisor is supposed to be back in the office finally today. He was out for one week on vacation. Then he was out on a site visit all last week, plus yesterday.
At least by either today or early tomorrow I should have most of my assigned work done.
Well, the stuff that was assigned to me last Friday or yesterday. Who knows what'll come up between now and Friday.
Anyway, time to go do....stuff.
I suppose.
I mean, I did start out with a nice drive to work. Then I got on here and found ads for hookers.
I suppose there are worse ways to start the day.
And it's nice and cool today. Currently in the high 50s outside. Although the wind has picked up, which can be unpleasant. Our high temp is only supposed to be in the mid-70s.
The overnight low is supposed to be in the upper 40s. Then we'll have a few days of lows in the 50s, highs in the 70s & 80s.
I've accomplished all the major things I needed to do at work this week. So now I can delve into some other issues that have popped up. Mostly small ones, it looks like.
Today they'll be serving the birthday breakfast downstairs. Kolaches and donuts.
Mmmmm....donuts.
Today is also apparently Boss Day. Or some crap like that. The boss I do like is out of the office. The boss I don't particularly like is in the office, but screw that guy.
Anyway...
If I recall correctly, they're going to bring BBQ for lunch.
Mmmmm....BBQ
Although, if I eat BBQ these days, it's typically just turkey or chicken. I've been trying to cut back on beef and pork.
The company is having a clothing drive that ends today. I kept meaning to bring a bag in, but also kept forgetting.
Luckily, these days there are bins all over the place you can drive to and donate stuff.
It was nice and chilly this morning. Upper 40s. That full moon was huge and bright, shining on the backyard. Almost made me want to have a chat with Khonsu. Thank him for a nice morning.
Then I had a pretty good drive in to work. Which always helps.
One sad thing, however. I once again forgot to take advantage of the warm weather to get the zipper in my jacket fixed. At the same time, I'm not sure how much good that jacket does anymore. If I'm only wearing a t-shirt under it, my arms are still cold.
I've only had it since 2009. Sad to think it might be time for a new one.
We did have a nice lunch yesterday, paid for (at least I think it was) by the boss for Boss Day. It was some really good BBQ. I had a couple slices of turkey and one rib.
When we were all sitting down to eat, my buddy brought up Rings of Power. I think I shocked a few people with my....vehemence towards that blasphemous, disgusting, should-be-banned-from-the-universe-forever, tragedy masquerading as a show.
Gee, maybe I should tell people how I really feel.
Nah, that would probably get me banned when someone claimed butthurt status.
Anyway, it was during that little lunchtime exchange I discovered at least two other co-workers are fans of The Critical Drinker. And at least one of them watches Gary as well.
One of our newer electrical designers quit the other day. Apparently, he got a better offer from his old employer. I wish him well, but am sad to see him go. I kind of liked him, even though I didn't work with him.
I think this weekend might be time to finally introduce the boy to Train to Busan. And maybe a few other horror movies.
Happy Work from Home Friday!
Not that I have too much work to do. I got most of my deliverables done earlier in the week.
Still, I was finally able to get some new (to me) software installed on my work computer yesterday. So if nothing else comes to me today, I'll spend a bit of time practicing with that.
Although technically it was two programs, but from the same company. One is designed to analyze pipe flow in order to size pipe, duct, and related equipment. The other is designed to analyze pipe flow for water hammer and surge analysis.
Yesterday was a semi-decent day. There was some drama, but hopefully that'll blow over without anyone getting in too much trouble.
Last night I watched Twice Told Tales. It's an anthology starring Vincent Price in three different stories, all taken from Nathaniel Hawthorne. The title comes from one of his own anthology collections. I don't recall if all three stories are from that collection, though I know one of them certainly is.
I had forgotten how long the movie was - 2 hours. When it was over, I prepared to go to bed. That's when I realized I had left a load of clothes in the wash.
So I popped in Diablo 4 and played a bit while I waited for those clothes to dry. I don't like leaving my dryer running while I sleep.
However, that meant I didn't get to bed until nearly 11:30 pm. So I'll be dragging a bit today.
Meh. That's what coffee is for.
