Hey Aberzombie,
If you have Amazon's Kindle Unlimited, you can read all of the Astro City comic books for "free". I have enjoyed the series.
Also, Knights of the Old Republic I and II now work on the XBOX One. Just letting you know.
A reported $6.99 per month for the new Disney+ streaming service. Not bad. I can see myself dropping Netflix in favor of that.
Speaking of dropping something...…
After three years of it pretty much being useless, I closed my LinkedIn account.
Now if only I could bring myself to close my Facebook account.....
Sadly, I still need that one to share pictures of my kids with my mother. Unless I can convince her to move to Texas....
Last night I went to the meeting of another of our scout pack's dens. This was the Webelos. Myself and another of the pack's STEM NOVA councilors were doing a follow-up to a NOVA activity that had been started at our previous pack meeting.
It was fun. I gave an off-the-cuff presentation of the history of the American Space program. Dredged from the darkest recesses of my memory.
Stoopid cold. Now my sinuses are a bit clogged, which is aggravating my TMJ issue.
If middle age sucks this hard, I'm going to be one cranky mother f+@@er when old age hits.
And now it seems I have developed Tinnitus. Whether this will be a temporary or (more likely) permanent annoyance, remains to be seen.
On the plus side, my boy and four of his fellow Den 4 scouts earned their Wolf Rank last night. The remaining three had parents too damned lazy to let me know if their scouts had finished the "homework" requirements.
And my brother informed my his daughter (a year-ish younger than my boy) wants to join our scout pack next year. Which is good, since we lost some of our girls.
At least it's a beautiful weather day.
My baby girl is now registered for Kindergarten next year. Which means I'll have to do a day of Watch D.O.G.S., same as I did when the boy was in Kindergarten.
IN other news, I read the Chinese are planning to build a base on the Moon. This is awesome. At least one country on this planet is taking space exploration seriously.
With any luck, they'll be the first to make contact with intelligent alien life, then try to kill that life, thus starting an interstellar war that wipes out humanity.
Proud of my boy for making his First Communion today. The whole thing went off well, with only one hitch. The switched the sides for the two lines of kids as they marched in, so they were confused about where to go to sit.
1 person marked this as a favorite.

Saw John Wick: Chapter 3 yesterday. Good flick. The story wasn't as good as the first two, but the action sequences and performances were top notch.
I look forward to Chapter 4.
A black cat crossed my path yesterday morning.
Then one of my hardcore characters in Diabo III died, followed quickly by his two replacements.
Then I brought my car in for its state inspection, only to find out the two rear tires will not pass inspection. So....hello new tires, good bye money.
Stoopid black cat.

Agreed, but I liked it more than 1, less than 2.
It appears I have found a suitable replacement for Gillette razors. Huzzah!
I was considering watching that new NOS4A2 show on AMC. Then I saw a featurette where one of the show runners mentioned the apparently undead villain played by Zachary Quinto as being representative of "the patriarchy".
Yeah, no thanks.
The boy is a big fan of old Japanese Godzilla movies. He's upstairs watching Godzilla Raids Again (from 1955), and asked me if there was any color back then.
My niece graduated from high school the other day. She scored a four year scholarship, and plans to study pre-law. So I sent her a copy of John Stuart Mill's On Liberty as a graduation present.
A-zombie,
I wouldn't know about patricarchy so much as I think that Zach can do villainy well as he does Vulcan.

I heard a rumor The Horde briefly had comic book Rick Grimes as a member. Huzzah for The Horde!
The current going theory on my back is that I have a herniated disc. Ouch. Back brace seems to be helping, at least.
Still, it's very annoying.
Watched the new animated movie Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles last night. The boy and I both enjoyed it. I think my baby girl was mildly entertained as well.
It was a fairly decent adaptation of some of the comic work.
Happy Father's Day to me. Got some beer from the wife. Each kid gave me a t-shirt and bluray. So now I have a Venom shirt, as well as one of Deadpool riding a unicorn-cat. Movie-wise I'm now the owner of Venom and Captain Marvel.
I hadn't planned on buying either movie. Venom was decent, and at least funny. Captain Marvel is probably the second worst MCU film. Only Iron Man 3 is worse. However, since they were gifts from the small humans, I must at least pretend to be happy with both.
They boy has been enjoying his cub scout day camp so far this week. And it looks like two other scouts from my den are participating, which makes me happy.
I F%@$ING HATE CLEANING VOMIT OUT OF CARPET!!!
Seriously, it's probably the greatest argument against carpet in the history of arguments against carpet.
Theoretically, this post insults one of my favorite aliases.
Finally got around to watching the bluray copy of Captain Marvel my kids gave me for Father's Day (mostly because the wife had never seen it).
After this second viewing, I think my initial assessment of the film was correct. It's definitely in the top 3 of the worst MCU films.
What???? No way. This film is WAY better than Thor Dark World. And you know I love Thor. :P
I'll have to disagree with you. So will my wife, who knows about as much about comics as a rock.
I have several issues with the movie, most of them small. My big problem was Marvel herself. Either she was poorly written, or poorly acted, but I found her to be unlikable. I suspect it was a little bit of both.
....I think I just had the migraine from hell reading that because honestly while it wasn't the best acted Marvel Movie (I'll agree there) I felt they did a more than decent job on Carol Danvers. ESPECIALLY when you remove the whole "Rogue sucked my life" part out of it. That and Scarlet Centurion too.
To each his own. I put her right up there with Pepper Pots, Drax and most of Peter Parker's classmates on my "least likable Marvel actors" list.
It has nothing to do with "diversity" or conformity to gender norms though right
(I swear, no more reading the Aberzombie safe space thread. Don't know why it keeps popping up in my focus.)
I prefer to think of it more as my "anti-social" thread. Also, as my "bored old habit" thread. I thought for sure most of the more sensitive types had hidden it by now.
I should say "selectively anti-social", since I'm more active over in the "Entertainment" section of the boards.
For the record - Edamame f&*@ing stinks.
I swear to all that's holy and unholy the wife only eats it to torment me.
Let’s be fair, that’s all the reason a spouse needs to do something.
You have a point.
Still, edamame is a low blow. The stench is quite horrid.
Like fish in the microwave bad, or open tuna?
Like the tuna, although maybe not as potent.
That reminds me of one summer I worked in the maintenance department at a New Orleans hotel. This was about 26 or so years ago.
The Orpheum theater was right across the street, and one weekend it hosted a body building competition. All the contestants stayed at the hotel. Apparently, body builders eat A LOT of tuna. We had entire floors smelling like it.
Still gives me the shivering willies, just thinking about it.
Thankfully, I have almost no sense of taste or smell, so my wife can eat or cook whatever she wants.
All I know is when I read some of what A-Zombie likes...it's alright. It's when he hates something...that's when I lose it a little..
I'm not sure I'd want to live in a world where Aberzombie likes everything.
