Existing WOTR party looking for GM for PBP

Recruitment

Hi there! We're a group of players who barely started our campaign, when our GM, Spooky, had to bow out because of real-life issues. Isn't that just always the way?

I personally had been looking forward to playing this campaign a great deal, as had a number of other players, so we're hoping we might find a GM who'd be willing to either take over the campaign from its current status, or start over from the beginning (preferably the former).

Here's a link to the current campaign discussion thread.

So far we've found five people interested in continuing, and we've got a mix of characters. Feel free to take a look and see if it's something you'd like to do.

I wish I had the books for this as I would totally be down to GM for you guys. I was in another of Spooky's groups that he had to leave. :(

Edit: Ordered first book off amazon, let me take a look at it when it arrives on wednesday.

Still in need of gm or are you covered?

Still looking as of now.

Sergeant Hughes - I'm also an orphan from this game, same group as Aleister above. It'd be fun to continue, if there's still space in the group and the fit is right (and if you'll have me...). What other characters do you expect to continue? Is it a mix of the two groups Spooky was running, or just your group?

One thing I've done for GM's who are open to picking up a dropped game but don't have the AP books is just gift them the PDF here on Paizo. We resurrected a Reign of Winter game that way and it's worked out great.

Sure, Aeryx. I see your mythic-path-related trait is for the Champion path, and ours dropped out, so that would be helpful to us, I'm sure.

Bane88: If you want to run this for us, I can personally offer to buy at least one of the books for you in PDF form when you finish running the one you've already purchased.

That would be great! My book should be here Tomorrow or Wednesday. Who is still playing? Classes etc?

I was the Marshal candidate in one of Spooky's games and still ready to play.

I think it's funny that I've seen several people do captain america for this AP. That aside, your character is well built, and I especially like the tropes and may use that site myself in other games.

So far we have

Ranger - Guardian
Bard - Trickster
Ranger - Champion
Ranger/monk - marshall
Sorceror - archmage
Wizard -- archmage
cavalier - marshall

That would be an interesting group, no dedicated healer or Hierophant.

I dunno if anyone wants to switch their characters around.

I think I'll bow out of this one. Seven characters is a lot for a PbP, and three rangers seems like more than we'd need, even if the builds are pretty different. It may also make it easier to recruit a healer, if that's what you want to do.

Have fun!

I might be interested. I have the books. Haven't run such a large group. But if Bane88 want's to run it that be better, I kinda have other stuff to keep me occupied.

I do think we'd probably really, really want a Heirophant.

Though, having said that, I'm still thrilled to continue. :)

Thanks. I hope I can play him more.

I'm running Wrath of the Righteous to our table-top group and it's been a lot of fun.

First time I have ever played a long term campaign outside of my home group and I am really stoked to continue playing.

Who is the other marshal character, the cavalier?

Still interested and checking in

That would be me, yes, the cavalier.

The first book arrived, I'll look it over this weekend and do some prep. It would be nice to have a Hierophant, but whatever, my tabletop group right now is a human rogue, kitsune, duelist, dwarf mystic theurge so... yeah.

I wouldn't want to force anyone to do a path they didn't want to do. That said, Would either of the marshalls consider switching to champion, or dual-pathing? Similarly, would either of the Archmages like to consider another option as well?

I don't really see another path working for this build.

I could switch to champion, but the Captain America theme works better as a Marshal commanding troops. But simple butt-kicking is fine, too.

What about the Alfimar?

I suppose I could, though the original plan was to Battle Herald.

Much as I would dislike to do it, if someone wanted to switch to trickster, I could rebuild as a divine caster (or build one instead) and go heirophant, though it would not be my first choice, I absolutely loathe compromising the character background like that.

Vardan, go ahead. I'll switch Steave to Champion.

If you don't mind, I'll keep the Marshal trait, because I don't want to rewrite the background.

cheers

Once again, this was a suggestion so no one feel they must change their character, if everyone wanted to run only marshalls that would be (weird)OK. Do not compromise your character unless you absolutely will be happy in another role.

If everyone who is being adopted from Spooky's game/s could post their Character Name - Class - Mythic Path - Party Role that would be great.

Character Name - Class - Mythic Path - Party Role that would be great.

Steave Rojerz - mostly Ranger / some Maneuver Monk - Marshal - Front-liner & some face

Aleister - Wizard (Teleportation) - Archmage - Support(Summoning and Buff)

Sergeant Jackram "Sarge" Hughes; Bog-standard Ranger; Guardian; switch hitter, moderate skill monkey, and party "Mom" (He sees it as his personal calling to keep everyone alive)

Iolana Torlinni - Bard (control/whip) - Trickster - singer, dancer, and flirt with a temper. Also the parties defacto trap smith (was given disable device as a class skill since we had no rogue.)

p.s. Sent Kyra a pm to see if she is still interested in playing since she never chimed up, not sure if she ever realized we were finding a new gm or not. If she is wanting to keep going, that means we have our heirophant too.

Vardan Argider - Cavalier (Emissary) of the Star - Marshall, but could go Champion - Wolf-Rider/Skirmisher/Melee/Diplomat

I'm here, I'm here! I'd still be interested in playing, though I'd need DM permission since I'm playing a 3rd party class and then going into a prestige class. Spooky also allowed a homebrew rule I asked about, and I suppose I'll ask the same here.

Kyra Altreas - Oracle (Life Mystery)/ Aetherurgist-Hierophant role.

Her main role is healing, and she uses spirits for defensive assistance/poking enemies.

The homebrew rule I wanted to ask about is:

Individual Spell Changes:
All cure/inflict/healing/restoring spells do not have a cap on effects based on CL and all are considered necromancy (positive)/(negative) spells (but do not counter one another as they draw from different planes and energies)

Cure/Inflict moderate wounds is 2d8+2 per CL

Cure/Inflict serious wounds is 3d8+3 per CL

Cure/Inflict critical wounds is 4d8+4 per CL

Breath of Life is 5d8+5 per CL

Breath of Life/Death, Heal, Harm, Mass Heal/Harm are now included in spontaneous casting of cure/inflicts and automatically added to spells known for oracles, just like the normal cure/inflicts known.

Restoration line are all now standard actions and affect undead/creatures healed by negative energy as the below new Degeneration spells.
This also affects all mass versions of these spells.

It allows healers to still be effective in combat after the first few levels by removing the caps they have on the cure spells.

The only other thing I was going to ask about was a feat from the Inner Sea Gods PDF, but that isn't necessary and wouldn't even be a thing for a few levels.

...This post looks really demanding, and it wasn't supposed to be. ;~;

Yay! It's our heirophant! Woo!

*Bows politely* It took me a while to realize this existed, actually. Iolana sent me a message. XD I'd been visiting the Wrath thread on the Discussion page, so it never showed it as having new messages because of that, so I figured it just died entirely.

Kyra, what PrC are you going into and when?(Just curious).

Alright, some orders of business.

1. This will be the first PbP I've run, and I foresee myself using(Similar to spooky) a descriptive narrative for combat vs a map. If anyone LOVES or wants to help with basic maps, that's fine.

2. How does one go about getting the GM access to threads?

3. It seems we have 6 players, filling all the mythic roles but champion, if anyone wants to be a champion, that would be sweet, but it is ultimately up to you. Has anyone heard from Asmodea? Is she still interested in this?

4.It seems you guys just finished the encounter with the Darkmantles, is this correct?

5. What is everyone's comfort level for content in games, I know some people are very opposed to things that are (in their opinion) overly graphic/violent/sexual. Which is fine and I generally start off at about a PG-13 level. I find this forums general disapproval of anything beyond implied said themes slightly perplexing as the Horror Masters at Paizo generally have disturbingly gruesome settings and atrocities being committed left and right. To me it is an interesting commentary that even in a world filled with horrible monsters, humans are still the worst perpetrators(usually). I don't foresee anything that graphic beyond gore and violence (I mean it's demons, come on) but if everyone would let me know now so I can avoid nasty PMs that would be sweet, as I've been kicked out of games that were "evil" for simply playing an evil character. We shouldn't have that from players in this game obviously but as I am playing the baddies, I would like to hear from you all.

I've been Gming RotRL for my table game and that is filled with horrors and as I watch my players just roll through unscathed, I know that I have a better chance of finding some seriously good Roleplaying due to the nature of this medium. (And those of you I've seen in the gameplay thread are doing a great job so far!)

6.Kyra I generally approve of that house rule as it makes healers more directly effective in combat. The prospective damage doesn't seem to come close to metamagic evocation so no problem there. Lets just retool breath of life/death into cure/inflict deadly wounds. If you could explain your plans for regeneration and degeneration a bit more I would appreciate that.

Actually, one group is three combats into the rebel base.

Maybe you want to describe/handwave the rebel base and start at exiting it?

Maybe you want to start a new Gameplay thread that you control?

cheers

Ok captain Rojerz if everyone is ok with that, I haven't actually looked at the game you came from and have been catching up on the one from whence this thread was created (Sarge's game).

BTW this will be my DM alias.

I think I will start a new thread as it would be much bother to try to wrap up multiple game threads. I'll post a link in a bit.

Discussion Thread

@Bane: I was going to prestige into Exalted (Inner Sea Gods PDF, I bought it if you need me to copy/paste the specifics for Exalted of Iomedae) at level 10/11 (forgot which). That way, I'll have a decent level for my spirits as an Aetherurgist, and my mystery won't suffer.

As for content, I'm cool with all of that.
