When I heard about the demo on kickstarter, I was excited to say the least. I knew then that all they wanted was something to show off, and that I wouldn't get anything other then helping GolbinWorks out. Then the 2nd kickstarter came, and I jumped on it. But I knew it would be some time before I would be able to jump into the game, I have just kept myself reading the blogs from time to time. I decided that groups would come and go during the wait, so I didn't want to get attached just yet. But with the switch over to goblinworks website for accounts, and with alpha starting soon and other things, I have decided to start looking for a guild/chartered company of liked minds to play with.
I still don't know what I want to play as when this game starts. I won't get in till Open Enrollment, but I will be there on day One, ready and waiting.
Should I be a valiant Paladin of Law and Order, a lonesome ranger that stands in the shadows... or an evil Necromancer? Oh the choices!
Just thought I would introduce myself (somewhat) and begin looking at some of the groups out there.
What I am Looking for: I prefer a small to medium group to be part of. Role play heavy, and at least active weekly. If this sounds like your group, I would love to hear more from you and your organization!
BTW, I do a small PC gaming podcast, and apparently one of the jokes aimed at me in it is, "Kommie, do you have any Pathfinder updates?" Well, hopefully in the coming months, I will have tons of stuff to share :D

You can start by looking at this Land Rush settlement list; though those are settlements rather than individual companies, you can get an idea for the kinds of groups that are out there and what everyone's striving to accomplish. You can take the names of some of the settlements/groups there and look them up on these forums to get more info about them, which might help if they either don't have a link in their description or the link doesn't give what you're looking for.

Lawful Good, there are a fair few groups that support that playstyle: The Empyrean Order, Full Metal Syndicate, Peace Through Vigiliance, and Keepers of the Circle.
Banditry, your best bet is the UnNamed Company (UNC) or the Stone Bear Clan.
Necromancy, you'll be wanting Golgotha, a division of Pax gaming.
I'm not sure about the roleplay intensity of the various groups, but I do know that all of these groups are going to be *very* active, and all have subdivisions so you can have your small to medium feel. Best of luck!

I believe you need Crowdforger package or Early Enrollment purchase to vote.
o find a guild to join, first you must create an account and log in to the new Goblinworks website. You must also either register previous purchases through Kickstarter or Paizo, or buy an Early Enrollment package through the Goblinworks store.
Using the link to the land rush "guilds" is a good to get a flavor. But also go through the GW blogs (such as the one referenced above) which should keep you busy for six hours. No need to Rush as things will change by OE. You will not need yo decide until you are ready to start.

Thanks for the all the replies so far.
I am indeed set up for early enrollment from my kickstarter pledge. I am looking over the guilds and land rush stuff right now (while In Eve), and making notes. I just wanted to see some stuff, hope for a response or two ;p Thanks for all the input.
As I told someone else, if I had to buckle down what I want, it would be a good align group, small to medium in size, and active. Beyond that, I am actually open to anything.

You may find some of the information in the Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links list useful.

Glad to see another face!
As others have mentioned there are many smaller groups available, which are most easily found on the landrush page or one of the lists provided.
Best of luck finding the group that suits you best, and you are welcome to stop by and say hi, regardless of what that might be. =)

Welcome TRK,
When browsing the ledger or the lists above provided by Nihimon and WxCougar, be sure to understand first the difference between Settlement, Chartered Company, and Guild.
Be aware also that Paladins and Rangers won't be implemented in the Early Enrollment, but I'm sure you could easily RP them with a fighter or a rogue.
And if you're interested in RPing Elven-style, your Ranger will find a welcoming home at Taur Im Duinath, the candidate Elven settlement in the Land Rush.

Thanks to everyone. I gave seen a couple that seem right up.my alley. Though I am going to say magistry seems like the best fit for now, who knows in the months before we get in. But in the mean time, hope to see you all around.
And to answer, small =~ 10, medium up to 50. Not to say that would stop me from joining a larger group, but I prefer the tight knit, togetherness from smaller groups.
Just a random thought... who here has played shadowbane?
Also.. anyone used roll20.net? I will ask this else where as well, but I am about to introduce some friends to roleplaying, pathfinder, but I need a good module or some tricks for first time rpers

It's important to note that the numbers you see in the landrush are not number of people in the guild. Many of those settlements are co-operations of several "guilds" and what appears to be 20 might be four teams of five working together to get a settlement, but not reflective of how many of them will actually "play" together.

Our small guild (shameless plug: Deathwatch) consists of about 10 definite players, 7 of which being in Early Enrollment. All 7 of us currently play either local Pathfinder tabletop campaigns with each other, or specifically use roll20.net. (two campaigns going at the moment)
We looked around for different free and/or paid software, and roll20 is by far the best we've come across. And the free version has everything we need, too!
Edit: We have about 3-4 more friends on-the-fence about purchasing the game - I think they are just going to wait until Open Enrollment.

Careful! Last time he ate my wonderfully scented Magistry soaps before I got started...

I certainly have played Shadowbane, lead a Mercenary guild there in fact. True FFA PvP game. If you ever feel a desire for barbarians and booze, swing by Freevale and ask for the Stone Bear Clan.

So how much am I hamstringing myself in the foot by not deciding what type of character (or guild / settlement) I want to play until I see more of the game mechanics?
I've played some Pathfinder and I'm very interested in the crowd-forging aspect of the game's creation. I've not chosen a particular guild to join yet, yet I will have alpha access. I wonder how much of the game I'll be able to play without joining a specific settlement (or how hard life will be)?
I'm certainly not looking for guild recruitment messages - I've skimmed Nihimon's master guild listing - but is there some bonus I'm missing other than a landrush vote?

I believe you'll not ham-string yourself in any way by making a Settlement decision before knowing much about your character. Find some people whose personalities mesh well with yours, and throw in your lot with them.
Any character can learn anything in PFO, so there's nothing stopping you--eventually--from being a Fighter today and a Wizard tomorrow, for example. If you're interested in roles or races not in-game immediately, you'll be able to get into those without penalty once they're introduced.
