I just posted this in the "Motto and Values" thread, but then I decided that it fit better here.
In regards to creating a company's motto:
Might I suggest using quotes from Krieg the character from Borderlands 2?
Here are some delightful examples that have excellent imagery:
"I'LL CRACK YOUR MIND AND BEAT YOUR PROBLEMS TO DEATH!"
"I'LL SLICE OFF YOUR EYELIDS SO YOU CAN WATCH THE END!!"
"I know what I have become... I am the inside of this world... I taste the gore, and I smell the crying... AND I WANT MORE! I want to bathe in your flesh, I want to savor your fear. I wanna live inside a castle built of your agony, AND I WANT TO CRUMBLE IT WITH AN AXE TO YOUR CAROTID ARTERY!"

Those are great vivid personal quotes but I wouldn't call them motto's. A motto should be short and precise. Something simple that people will remember and when they hear those words will think of your product or organization. It should tell the audience who you are and what you're about and should be able to be added to the name of your product/org without it taking over or seeming out of place.
Hence the one we have chosen:
Stone Bear Clan - Be Legendary
Being Legendary has a different meaning for different people and by the simple statement allows you to imagine for yourself what that might entail. It's a positive statement and holds no leanings toward Evil or Good. It is an aspiration to greatness that we wish to see in each member as well as the Clan as a whole.

Do you have an artist in your pay roll Ravenlute? I like the bear claw you have on the Stone Bear Clan site.

I asked someone I know very nicely and they agreed to take the time to do a little work for my sites. I'm sure they'll be happy to hear you like it!
You could call the Bear our totem animal and represents our values of Strength, Bravery and Cunning. The logo of a bear paw was an easy choice. We chose the color red to reflect the blood frenzy or "rage" of a barbarian. All of this ties into our namesake, the Legend of the Stone Bear. I plan on having the Legend posted on the site not too long from now. I hope to get some feedback on it when I do.

I think it's important that a group has an identifying theme that makes it easy to single them out from other groups. Making splinter groups probably wouldn't be in our best interest.
I could easily see other companies following a totem and the values that beast represents to them. This isn't something restricted to uncivilized cultures either and in a fantasy world they could be monsters such as manticores, triceratops, golems and of course dragons to name a few.
As an easy out-of-game example, look at Harry Potter and the four houses the wizards were divided into, each one represented by a totem of their own.

Feel like causing a little destruction, a little mayhem? That's cool.
Feel like raging out and taking on the biggest and baddest this world has to offer? Then grab your axes, club or greatsword and join the rampage! The Stone Bear Clan has a spot for you!

Welcome Lord Zodd to the Stone Bear Clan! You'll be a perfect fit. :D
Thank you! I have taken my time to choose a company I felt resonated with my play style, as well as my in-game goals and desires.
I am very excited and proud to wear the bear claw emblem of the Stone Bear Clan.
Since the strongest member will be the chief, I will do everything I can to lead the SBC wisely ;)

If you train hard I'm sure you'll have a shot at being Chief, but how long will you be able to hold the position?
I'm really looking forward to the first few days of EE when we'll be establishing who our first Chief will be.

kneel before Zodd?
Exactly.

I will enjoy smacking any challengers down. If someone does defeat me, I will be relentless in reclaiming my rightful throne as Chief of the mighty Stone Bear Clan.
Hopefully I do a better job of it than those guys in the Game of Thrones. Getting and keeping the throne, that is

kneel before Zodd?
Indeed:
Zodd is a 10-foot-tall barbarian warrior when in human form. When transformed, he resembles a minotaur with a lion's face whose size towers over most humans. He also has wings which he can make appear and disappear at will, allowing him the ability of flight. He is considered by many mercenaries as the "god of the battlefield", as he has lived hundreds of years without meeting a worthy opponent in combat.
Welcome to the clan, I don't think it's necessary to say that we're glad to have you: it's a perfect fit!

You are the first person to realize that I am paying homage to the manga/anime Berserk, not the Superman villain with a similar name.
Glad to have you as a Rage Brother, Wurner :)

Barbarians wanted! Join the Company that let's you be a true barbarian, not a 'civilized' barbarian that is stuffed in a waistcoat or hides in the bushes with a flimsy knife.
Close your eyes for a moment and imagine the havoc, the howls and the glory of combat as you charge down a hillside with your rage brothers and sisters, crashing into the unsuspecting and cowardly knights of your enemy.
Throw off the shackles of conformity and be true to yourself. Become a barbarian!

Ravenlute wrote:The Stone Bear Clan has officially joined the Multi-Company settlement of Freevale.I take it then that you won't be pursuing creating the settlement of Prophecy?
Not at this time. Prophecy has combined with Freevale to form one settlement. Not a lot has changed though to be honest since both settlements were very similar in the first place. Outsiders is likely seeing the biggest change since this settlement is CN but I believe they are planning on being stationed in various settlements of different alignments to cover their needs so it works out.
Stone Bear Clan, Blunt Logic and Outsiders are still separate Companies, we have just agreed to team up under one settlement, Freevale.

Haven't seen any barbarian-suitable outfits yet, we'll have to start a petition for them once the game starts.
Reminds me of my "Quest for the hairy chest"-petition I got running on AoC's forums prelaunch. Got much support on the forums but that wasn't a crowdforged game so it didn't happen. Another dude ran a "spear and shield" petition and got pretty much unanimous support but that didn't happen either :(

Not if you do it around Callambea, AND you do it with some of your fellows around.
If you choose to role with a Mankini, that will be ok, I suppose...

I am looking forward to comparing how safe my several Trader characters will be in and around their Settlements. :D I realize this depends mostly on making smart decisions myself though, like going out with buddies.
Still, the active political landscape will dictate a lot!
Mankini's....thanks a lot, now I have to get rid of that image of Borat in my mind. :(
