Help with Roland from the Dark Tower books

Advice

Silver Crusade

He's a gunslinger duh. But what else would you add?

Nothing. Pistolero all the way.

DM cooperation and lots of time. Most of what makes Roland Deschain work is plot armor and an intricate backstory.

Scarab Sages

Is he a Gunslinger though?

He's described as part emissary, part knight errant and part warrior, which to be sounds more like a cavalier following the Order of the Blue Rose.

Sure, there's parts of him that are definitely gunsligner, but most of the expectations of his day to day role before his quest definitely implied a more knight-errant style skillset.

Liberty's Edge

He's a Gunslinger. The only things he needs that the class doesn't give are a couple of Class Skills. He can easily grab those with Traits and the Cosmopolitan Feat.

He needs nothing else.

He need a pair of revolvers not blackpowder pistols.

This is true...but there are rules for those. :)

Grand Lodge

He needs to be missing half a hand too.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Not until level 4 when book 2 starts;-).

Mysterious Stranger with 3 levels of Trench Fighter. And a revolver.

I actually had a player want this exact concept. We built her a Pistolero/Rogue with Rapid Shot and Two Weapon Fighting, She was happy and it was the most combat effective character in the party by far, advanced firearms are strong stuff.
