I would be interested to see whether they actually got someone who knows how to do Pathfinder stat blocks or whether they intend to do one liners as was stated at one time in one of the forums.
By "one liners", do you mean stat blocks that say something like:
Winston (hm F7)? (Where hm F7 means human male, fighter level 7)

To be completely fair about this Kickstarter, they are doing it the way Kickstarter intend things to be run. They are building up their company, so yeah, things are going to be expensive. It's extremely hard to build a company up to the print process, and they have one(?) other book that has come out recently (more have been released, but its been a little while).
I dont mind the concept at all of them charging for adds. That shows me a business sense, and suggests they are in it for the long haul (which, could arguably be the longest haul in rpgs). It's not like they are forcing anyone to buy things, and if the KS goes well, the adds may be available later on.
I'd rather see JG get some liquid assets and keep going, than give away the farm and this is their last product.
Not harping on anyone, just giving my 2 cp. I got to go do some editing now lol

Thanks Skeeter for the response. I said something because I had never run across that practice before. I don't mind paying for the add-ons either. It was just a first time for me.
Was it JG who produced the Traveler T20 campaign setting? I wish that had worked. I played in a demo of it when it first came out.

Yeah I am a biiiiiiiiig fan of the NG JG stuff. I only have PDFs I have picked up of the older stuff, I don't think much physical made it to NZ! So any JG stuff that I can get over here is a bonus.
For those who don't know JG have released an updated/cleaned up Caverns of Thracia, and it is an excellent PDF.

So all the work that was done can't ever be used again? Sad:( As I said, I wish them good luck and it appears they should not have an issue at least funding.
Well the 3.5 Wilderlands of High Fantasy boxed set is still very usable even with PF. Iirc they mainly used one line statblocks for NPCs...

Thanael |

The IP of the 3.5 stuff is mixed--they cannot use it and we cannot use it. I cannot even give permission for that, nor can they. Lots of players involved.
I'm a little unfamiliar with the old JG Wilderlands stuff. What was used for the 3.5 box?
Also I find the kickstarter description frustrating. For me it's totally unclear what the PF products will be, i.e. what products will be converted and what kind of content the books will have.

A bit confused by this one. I don't recall anyone ever talking about doing "one-liner" stats for Pathfinder. Especially since we really were not interested in Pathfinder until July of last year.

The 3.5 version done by Necromancer and JG was built off of the original products of Guide to the City State of the Invincible Overlord and Wrath Overlord. It was a huge collaboration effort between a lot of different parties, which is why this stuff is not feasibly usable.
As for what the PF products will be, this is from the Book Section on the Kickstarter:
City State of the Invincible Overlord will be written in both JG Universal and the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. You'll be given an opportunity to choose which version you want after the project is funded. The book will contain the following material:
- 350+ shops, inns, taverns, temples, marketplaces, etc. for the City State itself
- Information for exploring the sewers of the City State from Wraith Overlord
- Background and descriptions for Thunderhold, the dwarven citadel
- Background and descriptions for Modron, the city of the River Goddess
- A total of 4 large format maps!
- A 17" x 22" Player's map for the City State and the sewers below on the reverse side
- A 17" x 22" Judge's map for the City State and the sewers below on the reverse side
- A 17" x 22" Player's map for Thunderhold and Modron on the reverse side
- A 17" x 22" Judge's map for Thunderhold and Modron on the reverse side
That makes this version of the City State a compilation of 4 of our past products! This version of the City State of the Invincible Overlord is going to include expanded content. We've used the original City State of the Invincible Overlord, Wraith Overlord, Thunderhold, and Modron as a framework. Then we've expanded on that framework in a way that does not take away from that original Judges Guild sandbox feel. It has really helped fill the gaps to make the presentation and flow of the product more natural.

They are using our printer guys--the binding quality will be bomber. Even if you don't use JG in your game, this one is a piece of history that should not be missed.
Anyone unfamiliar with what the City State is should google it up--I cannot do it justice, and I own every product ever made by JG. It was the first city ever made for the game.
JG was making whole cities while TSR was making short modules back in the day.
Wraith Overlord is the sewers and dungeons below the city (a must have), and Thunderhold and Modron are two closely related smaller cities that create an entire network area around the main city itself.
The maps are Tolkienesque, and are perhaps the coolest world maps I have ever seen.
I pledge to a lot of kickstarters to help support my fellow publishers--but I went big on this one for a reason. FGG strongly endorses this effort.
Bob--make sure your pathfinder converters know it a heck of a lot better than me! I have 3 people who do that for me. I cannot imagine how big those stat blocks will be.

I have the original. It was THE city for a long time in more ways than one, with a huge influence on succeeding products from other publishers. I never used it in my game, but my own cities have always been done in the same style and the idea of how a city should be done / run is there... definitely a great product back in the day. If you want a city that is more than a shopping venue this is great stuff.

Well, I'm in.
I have some old JG material from back in the day but my primary reason was just to support JG in their effort to bring back CSotIO with as much material as possible. I saw them supporting the Metamorphosis Alpha KS (which is burning through their goals right now) and the support that FGG and JG have show to each other has softened my otherwise burnt out, cinder of a heart.
I know times are tough, but these are "our" games. We get the resources that we support and help to flourish. I often complain about the state of options in the realm of rpg land - so here's our chance to make a difference.
I doubt that there will be another CSotIO for PF anytime in the future -(maybe a 2nd ed PF) or Lost City of Barakus for that matter - I would love to see these projects come out as strong as possible for the time the will evetually see release with the best potential final record: The finished book.
Anyway
