reduce / enlarge person - change to movement?

Rules Questions

Is it generally accepted that reduce person and enlarge person do not alter your movement rate?

Logically it doesn't make sense, but both spells call out a number of effects of the size change an neither mentions a change to movement rate.

Thanks

That's correct, movement rate doesn't change, as dated from 3.X.

There was even an Order of the Stick strip which lampshaded it.

"It took you this long to get here"

"Sorry, short legs."

"But you were a giant!"

"Funny how that works out."

As I've found out... having been both enlarged and shrunk, it works out that way in World of Warcraft as well. :)

(RAW)Correct. Neither of them change your movement speed.

(RAI Comparison)Well, much like us in the real world, whether we have long/thick legs or short/thin legs, we compensate to overall move the same speed as one another. Long/Thick legs have a bigger stride and it takes less effort(but movements would be slower) to move those legs. Smaller legs tend to shuffle more quickly since their stride is smaller and they end up burning more energy but achieve the same rate of speed. It's just easier for the long legged people since their potential for speed is higher. It's like the difference between a hummingbird flapping it's wings and one of the regular birds. when moving at the normal leisurely pace, they aren't too different. When going full speed, they could differ a little in both speed and longevity.
