I would stand out on the balcony of my open air bedroom, my hands resting upon the parapet as I gazed longingly at the infinite stars shining in the night sky and my hair flows in the cool breeze.

And behind me I hear the door open. Distant Worlds is there, its shirt unbuttoned. Its hair is flowing in the breeze too even though it's in the bedroom.

I run my hand through my hair. "I was worried you would never come." A tentative step forward.

Distant Worlds approaches with less hesitation. "You knew I couldn't stay away."

We are face to cover now. I shudder as it steps into the moonlight, the scent of packing styrofoam hanging thick about it. "I knew."

Distant Worlds places its hands on my shoulders and draws near, but then pauses. "But what about Wrath of the Righteous? And Mummy's Mask, and the others?"

"Shhhhh..." I place a finger upon its lips. "Allow us this one night. This one night under the stars."

Distant Worlds pulls me closer.

I whisper in its ear. "Take me to the stars. And tell me that you'll keep me safe from the terrible secret of space."

Distant Worlds begins to open its cover.

The stars shine in the night sky, but upon this earth upon that night, there was a supernova.

I believe some of those hints Wes posted on his blog is something he's working on for me and it is not something for Iron Gods.

Crap! I am pretty sure that will actually be for Mummy's Mask..

Turns out... sometimes the most obvious answer is right. If you see a bunch of Egypt-themed stuff and we're doing a mummy-themed Adventure Path... well, there ya go.

Dangit, I was hoping it was for the Swords and Planets "Guardians of Golarion" AP!!! :p

(Still looks like something to do with Gilded Men/El Dorado, but somehow tied into Mummy's Mask to me. Maybe a new monster?)

My assumption is it is for Wes' article on what happens when you die on Golarion. Daigle mentioned it during the AP seminar at Paizocon ot GenCon.

This, of course, does not stop people from making some wildly divergent speculations.

Silver Crusade

It had a few egypt themed things in it. Some of the stuff looked Mayan to me. Who knows what it's for. I just saw he posted it and saw some things that I thought might have to deal with Arcadia not Iron Gods. I mentioned it might be for an AP that Paizo was doing later.

One thing, James Jacobs is the Steven Moffat of Paizo. =) He likes to throw you curve balls. Guess we will all see when we see it.

Danubus wrote:

Some Egyptian, some Mesoamerican, some Indian (or at least, southeast Asian), something Roman, and the comic book (or at least, comics by way of tv cartoons) stuff.

So it's kind of an eclectic mix.

Scarab Sages

I wasn't AT ALL interested in the Worldwound AP because I didn't want Mythic in my game. But, I've since read it, and while I'm still not a fan of Mythic, I thought the AP was excellent and look forward to running it.... which means I need to learn mythic (boo).

It's all good.

So I guess the only way is voting with my wallet. I hope others do the same so we get as little as possible of this sort of thing in the future. It will be interesting to see how popular something like this is going to be.

To everyone looking forward to this, please don't take offense. I hope you have fun with it.

I hope the opposite. We get more stuff off the boring Tolkien beaten path. So sick of Western European only fantasy these days. I want to see more stuff that isn't that and I'm glad Paizo is delivering.

So here's hoping for more stuff like this in the future. If you don't like it, there are countless modules that will cater to your needs. I'm glad the rest of us that want more than just Tolkien inspired RPGs will have stuff to play with. Other people want new stuff. The existence of this will not hinder your precious medieval fantasy. Deal with it son :p

Thank you. Reading it now... this stuff is great. Does it include a rule of thumb on how mythic tiers would bump the CR of a creature? this stuff is just so damn powerful... although it's making me itch to stat out a 1st level commoner pastry chef with 10 tiers of Mythicnesssssss! :)

Every 2 Tiers is +1 CR. It's mentioned in there somewhere. Ditto on APL.

Though if you check out the Wrath of the Righteous forum section you'll find a thread or two that point to that not necessarily being true, in that it underestimates the power of Mythic tiers, while Mythic Ranks(what monsters get) are possibly overestimated.

But that's something better reserved for elsewhere. Like the Wrath of the Righteous section or General Discussion.

But seriously, a Distant Worlds AP would be that keen. Especially if Verces with its augmentations and high technology co-existing with magic and the divine and WUB WUB come into play. :)

And Sarcesians!

So Mikaze has created an Asherahian biolinguistic neurovirus, Dudemeister was Patient Zero, and now most of the Paizo staff are infected. I'm now hoping the PMG is working on creating a "nam-shub" inoculation... and that SKR makes a dramatic reappearance dual-wielding glass knives and a nuke.

Or maybe I should just take a break from editing stat blocks for a while?
